Dear Reader: This book documents documents the history of the Plonkey and Victor NCAA family basketball pool. The pool has meant a lot to all of us lucky enough to be connected to Lennie, through the Plonkey family, the Victor family or in some cases, both families. Some of us love basketball, some of us love winning the lottery, but all of us love Lennie because he has kept us connected as a family because of the thankless, never-ending effort to conduct this pool every year. The tournament has grown, our families have grown, but more than anything, Lennie has grown into a leadership role in our family that he may never have wanted or considered accepting. The voice that speaks to all of us in the letters compiled in this book is a voice of compassion and family authority. We have lost many of the leaders of both families since 1983. But because we find ways to stengthen and renew our ties to each other, we remain a strong family. This pool and Lennie’s effort to keep it going every year are a major reason why.
