What was announced in the Budget? SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYMENT: A guaranteed job, training, or work placement for all 18-24 year olds who have been out of work for 12 months SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE: Allowing you to save up to £10,200 in an ISA, up to £5100 of that can be cash. SUPPORT FOR HOMEOWNERS AND BUYERS: £600 million funding package to build more homes, and an extension of the stamp duty holiday.
I know that people in this country want a fair deal and a bit of common sense. I support the steps taken in this year’s Budget. This extra help gives individuals and families the support they need to get through the recession.
SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS: Increasing capital allowances to 40%, and establishing a £750 million fund to support industrial projects SUPPORT FOR LOW EARNERS: Those earning over £150,000 should rightly pay a little more tax. So from April 2010 those top earners will pay 50% on any income earned over £150,000 SUPPORT FOR CARERS: For the first time, caring responsibilities for grandparents of working age will count towards their entitlement for the basic state pension This Budget is about helping those who need it, not cutting services when times get tough.
