SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CHARTER Our Pathway to a Sustainable Future
Issue 2 – June 2022
Welcome to the second issue of Day2’s Social Responsibility Charter, thank you for taking the time to find out more about our business. In May 2021, we released the first issue of our Charter to set out our vision for a sustainable and socially responsible future for our company. Issue one of the Charter defined our vision, our values, our goals and set out our approach to achieving those goals. In this second issue, released in June 2022, we have reviewed and updated the core elements of the original charter, and shared some of the exciting progress we have made towards our goals over the past year. We understand that we are at the start of a journey and that our pledges will only have impact when they lead to action and measurable results. We hope this document demonstrates our commitment to delivering the pledges we have made.

OUR PROGRESS We will empower our team with the training & resources they need to specify responsibly. o We have developed a set of 9 sustainability criteria to evaluate the sustainability credentials of the products we specify and supply. We have provided our specification and sales teams with training on how to apply the criteria, and created a new ‘Sustainable Alternatives’ template to create a simple side-byside product comparison tool. Our aim is for the sustainability criteria to be used to increase literacy about sustainability internally, and to create an easy to understand engagement tool for our customers and partners. We will take steps towards achieving carbon neutrality at our office at 2 Woodbridge Street, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by the end of 2022. o We have appointed a carbon consultant, Balanced Energy, to support our plan of achieving carbon neutrality at 2 Woodbridge Street, and our plan and actions will be verified to the Future Net Zero Standard and aligned to the UN FCC Race to Zero. o We began collecting activity data at the start of our current financial year in August 2021, and we intend to use this data to create a complete carbon inventory for the 2021-22 financial year.
08 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
OUR PROGRESS We will start the journey towards becoming B-Corp certified in 2021, with the aim of achieving certification in 2023. o Following a detailed review of the requirements of the Bcorp certification process, we have decided to delay applying for certification until we have completed our supply chain sustainability audit in 2022. We aim to complete analysis of the audit in Q3 2022 and begin using the results to understand and reduce emissions in our supply chain from October 2022. o We have created a new freight emissions calculator to help our team and our customers understand the emissions implications of sourcing decisions.
09 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
OUR APPROACH We have built our social responsibility strategy on 4 key pillars; the environment, our people, community and innovation. We have identified a set of key objectives in each pillar, including both short-term and long-term goals. Each objective will have at least one action or activity which can be measured, easily understood and have a demonstrable impact. The output and impact of these objectives will be measured and reported in future issues of this Charter.

Pillar 1
THE ENVIRONMENT As the UN has stated, Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. Combined with the rapid destruction of natural resources and the huge amounts of waste being created by linear economic models, society is faced with an existential challenge that simply must be overcome.
12 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
We recognise that as a responsible member of our industry, and society, we have a part to play in the creation of a sustainable future. Since 2013, we are proud to have held full ISO 14001 environmental management accreditation, which we use as a benchmark to drive our environmental objectives. Our vision is to go beyond the requirements of ISO 14001 to create ambitious initiatives that tackle environmental issues throughout our value chain. We have identified four aspects of our business that we will address to reduce or prevent negative impacts, and increase positive action: 1)
Our activities at 2 Woodbridge Street
2)
Our responsibilities to our clients
3)
Our responsibilities to our supply chain
4)
The impact of delivering our projects
OUR COMMITMENTS & PROGRESS
01 OUR ACTIVITIES AT 2 WOODBRIDGE STREET Our first focus will be to address the impact of our own activities at 2 Woodbridge Street. We will address our Scope 1, 2 & Scope 3 GHG emissions and work to improve recycling and reduce waste sent to landfill.
We will take steps towards achieving carbon neutrality at 2 Woodbridge Street, with the aim of being carbon neutral in 2022. We have appointed Balanced Energy to support our plan of achieving carbon neutrality at 2 Woodbridge Street and will be verified to the Future Net Zero Standard aligned to the UN FCC Race to Zero. We will audit energy usage and implement energy use reduction strategies at 2 Woodbridge Street in 2021. We began auditing our energy use monthly in August 21, at the start of our 2021/22 financial year. We are launching energy saving initiatives with the help of the Day2 Green Team. We will review waste & recycling at 2 Woodbridge Street and set targets for reducing non-recyclable waste in 2021. We launched monthly waste & recycling audits in August 2021 and we will use the data to define waste reduction targets in 2022. We will review the procurement of office consumables, with the goal of sourcing 100% sustainable products by the end of 2021. We have updated the timeframe for this pledge to the end of 2022. We will provide our colleagues with the information and resources they need to act responsibly away from the Day2 office. We have created the Day2 Green Team to help deliver team initiatives, including providing staff with insights about sustainability at home.
13 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022

We will help our colleagues create sustainable home offices and reduce the impact of their commute & workrelated travel.
We will work with our logistics partners to incorporate emissions free vehicles into our delivery & installation service. We pledge to help our suppliers achieve carbon neutrality and deliver net-zero projects to our customers by 2030, or earlier.
OUR COMMITMENTS & PROGRESS
02 OUR RESPONSIBILITIES TO OUR CLIENTS We believe one of the greatest opportunities for Day2 to create positive change is through helping our customers make informed choices. We aim to create a new model for responsible consultancy, focused on data driven insights and education.
We will place a renewed focus on the sustainability credentials of the products we specify, offering our clients improved insight into the environmental impact of the furniture they buy. To achieve this, we will create an easy to understand rating system for our products and suppliers, and make sustainability a key criteria in product evaluation, alongside functionality, design and cost. After researching how best to deliver this pledge, we found that creating a product rating system introduced a complex, and at times subjective, set of value-judgements. We have therefore changed our strategy to focus on transparency and providing evidence-based comparisons of products. To deliver this strategy, we have created 9 sustainability criteria that can be used to directly compare product options. More information about our 9 sustainability criteria can be found on the next page. We will provide our consultants with the training and tools they require to specify responsibly. We have provided our sales and specification teams training on how to use the 9 sustainability criteria and created a simple side-by-side product comparison tool to aid customer engagement. We aim to innovate and develop new procurement models that support the circular economy and enhance our commitment to product stewardship. As part of this goal we aim to develop strategic partnerships with market leaders in furniture remanufacturing, resale and recycling. We are launching Day2 Renew, a new service designed to reduce the embedded carbon of furniture projects, reduce the volume of furniture sent to landfill, and help create the conditions for circularity in the furniture industry.

OUR COMMITMENTS & PROGRESS
03 OUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN OUR SUPPLY CHAIN One of Day2’s greatest strengths is the diversity and reach of our supply chain. We recognise the importance of evaluating our suppliers, particularly in relation to Scope 3 emissions, in order to take actions to reduce our impact across our whole value chain.
As part of our commitment to providing our consultants and our clients with the information they require to make responsible choices, we will undertake a comprehensive audit of our supply chain to measure and report on the sustainability credentials of our manufacturers and their product portfolios. We will use this audit to create a Day2 rating system for manufacturers and their products and in turn use this data to motivate poorly performing suppliers to improve their credentials, creating a positive impact in our supply chain. We have issued a comprehensive sustainability audit questionnaire to our top 100 suppliers and we will be collecting the results in February and March 2022. The questionnaire focuses on key sustainability topics including environmental issues such as climate action, material resources & waste, circularity, material health, biodiversity, and social issues such as Modern Slavery, equality, diversity & inclusion, health & safety and corporate philanthropy. We aim to analyse this data in Q2 of 2022 and begin using the ratings generated to help guide responsible specification from August 2022 onwards. We will review the performance of our logistics & installation partners and create targets for reducing their impact. Our current audit focusses on sustainability in our product supply chain. We will begin auditing our logistics and installation partners once this audit is complete and in August 2022, with a view to completing the audit by December 2022.
22 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
OUR COMMITMENTS & PROGRESS
04 DELIVERING OUR PROJECTS Delivering major projects is a complex logistical challenge and we recognise our subcontracted delivery vehicles are one of the biggest contributors to emissions in our value chain. We aim to work with innovative partners who share our values to reduce this impact.
We will measure the carbon miles travelled by our delivery vehicles to quantify our impact and investigate ways to maximise efficiency and reduce mileage. We have created a freight emissions calculator to quantify the emissions generated by transporting products between our suppliers, our warehouse and our customers. We will have the methodology used in calculator verified by our carbon consultants, Balanced Energy, and create a spend-based emissions factor tailored specifically to Day2 to measure future performance. We will measure the amount of packaging waste removed from site after installation and investigate ways to reduce packaging waste sent to landfill and increase the volume of packaging that is recycled. We are currently investigating practical and achievable ways to quantify the amount of packaging generated during installation, and we will begin measuring waste and recycling from targeted major projects in 2022. We will create Product Stewardship initiatives to help our clients refresh, re-purpose, recycle or re-sell their existing furniture. See pages 19 & 20. We will investigate the viability of the use of emissions-free and low emission vehicles in our logistics mix and commit to an achievable target for implementing this goal. We aim to launch a new zero-emissions transit van with a key 3PL partner in 2022, and we are currently researching the time horizons for the roll out of zero-emissions heavy-goods vehicles in the UK and Europe.

04 VOICE Integral to our long term success is a belief that everyone's voice matters, as we know everyone brings different experience, expertise and ideas to the business.
We actively encourage contributions that are listened to, respected and valued often leading to better ways of working and innovation. We do not underestimate the impact that enabling a strong voice ethos has on individuals professional and personal growth. We have identified a number of initiatives that support our drive to encourage a strong voice culture: o We will hold monthly town hall meetings where the senior team will provide an update on performance and future plans, and invite the team to ask questions and share ideas, along with presentations from the wellbeing and green teams. o We will create an innovation notice board to provide a forum for colleagues to raise their ideas, views and comments on a particular theme for discussion at the monthly town hall meeting. o We will carry out and annual staff satisfaction survey, asking a variety of questions about the business and how they feel. o Our staff handbook is reviewed regularly to ensure there are formal mechanisms to support our voice commitment including areas such as whistleblowing.

TEAM CHARITY OF THE YEAR 2022 ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY The Day2 team has chosen the Alzheimer’s Society as the recipient of the team fund in 2022. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. DAY2 RENEW Our aim in creating the Day2 Renew service is to offer our clients an innovative new way to think about how they source, use and retire their furniture assets. RENEW PRODUCTS One of the most powerful ways we can facilitate circularity in partnership with our customers is to ensure the new furniture we supply is high-quality, designed for a long life, and designed for disassembly and remanufacturing or recycling. We will advocate for this message with our stakeholders to ensure we supply product fit for the circular economy.
42 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022

43 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
DAY2 RENEW TAKE-BACK SCHEMES Leading manufacturers in the sustainability space are committing to formal take-back schemes for their furniture in the UK. Take-back schemes will be a critical element of the circular economy and we will highlight and promote products offered with take-back guarantees to help our clients make positive sourcing decisions.
44 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
DAY2 RENEW EXTENDING PRODUCT LIFE The market for second-life and remanufactured products is growing in the UK, however the often negative perception of used furniture is still a barrier to achieving circularity in the industry. Our aim is to create case studies that demonstrate the value and viability of second-life products and to help shift thinking to favour multiple product lifecycles.
45 / Day2 – Social Responsibility Charter – Issue 2 – June 2022
DAY2 RENEW SUSTAINABLE DISPOSAL We understand that organisation’s needs change and that the product they retire will not always align with the needs of the second-life market at that time. We have partnered with a network of sustainable clearance contractors who prioritise material recycling and offer a zero-to-landfill guarantee.
