Mort Künstler
Mort Künstler, born in 1931, is a historical artist in the United States of America. He studied art at Brooklyn College and his work mainly focuses on history of USA, American Civil War, American life or national’s stories, from prehistorical American life to the odyssey of the space shuttle. His name is well know to the publishers of illustrated books and magazines and to the art directors of agencies. Mort Künstler was among the greatest illustrators of the men’s adventures from the late 1950′s and 1960′s.

Consider, for instance, the luminous string of actresses who have portrayed her on stage and screen over the course of the past four decades: Audrey Tautou, Katharine Hepburn, Shirley MacLaine. And like the lady of the hour, their talent was unmistakable, incandescent, one-of-a-kind.Chanel’s name first transformed, then epitomized, the luxury womenswear market in the 20th century, with thousands of 2.55-toting pilgrims journeying to her quarters at 31 Rue Cambon since her death in 1971. But the designer—born 128 years ago — did not always operate from a position of privilege.

If Raf Simons weren’t the influential fashion designer behind Jil Sander and his own eponymous line, he’d like to be a ceramicist. “There’s something so romantic about it,” he says. “I think about the South of France, the nature of clay, working with your hands. Fashion is such an octopus. You’re connected to so many people: suppliers, pattern makers, production teams, marketing teams, vendors. . . .” Six years ago, the 43-year-old Belgian went from being the under-the-radar, trenddriving menswear designer of Raf Simons to the top man at Jil Sander.

Vintage Photos of Rock Stars In Their Bathing Suits by Emily Temple It’s the last weekend of July and summer is in full swing (it won’t last forever, though, so if you haven’t busted out your bathing suit by now, you’d better do it soon). We already know that many of the literary greats we admire liked to flit around the beach in their bathing suits, but what about their sonic storytelling counterparts? Turns out they fancied a swim now and again too. Not surprising, since their days were most likely filled with sticky tour bus rides and sweat-inducing live performances. Also not surprising: they tend to look just a little better in their next-to-nothing duds than our dear group of authors, since for many of them, part of their job was inspiring teenage lovesickness.
