Who we are FOLE- (Facilitators of Learning Experiences) is a dynamic company run by educators that specializes in connecting students from all over the world to American schools, Universities and education methods. We provide personal and online training, education services and American connections to education organizations and schools throughout the world. And we assist individual students with education counseling and application services to American schools and universities. We also run summer programs for teachers and students to train key 21st century skills and in understanding American education methods and culture. This year we are excited to be holding our FOLE summer programs at the prestigious Saint Anselm College campus in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The Program In today’s schools and workplace knowledge is common, students and workers already know a lot. But they often do not understand HOW to take that knowledge and use it effectively. They do not know how to “think outside the box” and be creative in finding solutions to problems. Our program changes that! FOLE’s summer program challenges students with problem based education skills. It teaches leadership, communication, teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity in a very safe and fun environment. The program is designed around the 21st Century skills that are the real keys to success in todays and tomorrows world and workplace.

5

Our program teaches students how to learn those skills and then use them to solve problems in an exciting and fun learning environment. Another key part of our program is we build confidence and personal strength in our students. Real confidence comes from within you; you have to believe in yourself and your abilities! That comes from not just what you know, but more from what you believe you can do! The FOLE program teaches you how to overcome challenges, how to see setbacks as not obstacles but as real opportunities to grow, innovate and succeed. The daily activities and lessons are designed to not only teach important skills, but also to challenge students so step by step they mature and grow in confidence and abilities!

English Immersion and Personal Challenge The summer program is also an English imersion program with all classes taught in English. With daily reading, writing and speaking lessons students will see definite improvement in their English abilities. A key part of the Summer program experience is the personal challenge. Shortly after arrival each student will meet with staff and agree on a personalized challenge. This “challenge” will be some specific personal area or areas that need improvement. Daily and weekly goals are given and students will meet daily with staff members to discuss their progress and receive advice and personal counseling. By the end of the camp every student will know much more about themselves and what they really are capable of and grow more mature and confident!

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it will not change you!”

The Location

New Hampshire is located in the Northeast part of the United States. It is consistently rated one of the best and safest states to live in, near many of America’s best colleges and schools and close to Boston, Massachusetts, the Atlantic Ocean and the White Mountains. This allows us to have day excursions to visit to Boston to see cultural sites there as well as visits to Harvard University and the MIT Campus.

The College Campus

You will be staying in a modern well equipped residence Hall on the campus. You should expect to be assigned to a room with two or three occupants. There are a very limited number of single rooms available for an additional fee and those are allotted on a first come first served basis based upon the order in which we receive the student completed registration forms indicating the request for a single room and the $500 non-refundable deposit. You will have access to a communal, single sex bathroom with showers. Your room will be furnished with a single bed, dresser, desk and chair for each student. Rooms have an overhead light and window blinds. Bed linens will be provided. The residence hall has several floors and multiple wings so there will be single sex wings or floors ensuring same sex privacy for the students. For safety a staff member will be present overnight on each floor that has students!

The residence building has secure locked access, includes classrooms, an entertainment area plus several common areas for students to meet. There is also a kitchen area for snacks as well as a laundry room where students can do laundry if necessary.

Each student is responsible for keeping their room, the hallways and common areas clean, neat and free of personal items and trash. The housekeeping staff is there to keep a sanitary environment, NOT to clean up after you; your parents also will not be with you- so please 12

clean up after yourself! Note that quiet hour in the rooms and hallways begin at 9:30 PM. Any disturbances after that will be dealt with by FOLE staff. Except on some planned excursions, students will be part of a structured program and will not have free time to leave the campus or do activities not organized by FOLE! Students are required to be in the residence hall or immediate surroundings for all personal times. Important note to parents- Although students will be part of a structured learning environment, there will be times during student personal time and during some activities and excursions where students will NOT have 24/7 direct supervision by FOLE staff. Staff will often be available and in most cases nearby but there are times where the student WILL NOT be directly supervised.

Program Tuition/Fee The program fee includes the cost of program activities and classes, scheduled meals, residence hall housing, scheduled airport transportation to/from the Logan International airport on arrival/departure day), linen pack rental, and recreational activities sponsored by the Summer Academy. NOT included in the program/tuition fee are airfare, textbooks, and any food items or meals purchased that were not part of the FOLE meal program. Please inquire with FOLE Associate or Agency for specific pricing and details.

Food and Meals Breakfasts, Lunches and dinners will be provided to all students at set times and costs are included in the program fee. A FOLE student ID will be required to get meals at the Saint Anselm colleges dining hall. 13

14

Dining Hall The dining hall provides an assortment of nutritious food in a buffet environment. There will also be several meals eaten during excursions and at several event nights (such as Pizza night and Barbecue night). Those meal costs are also included in the program fee. Any other food, snacks or food items purchased by students will be their responsibility and at their own expense. If students wish to purchase food or any other items you will need cash (USD) or a credit/debit card.

Laundry Laundry washing machines and clothes dryers are located in the residence hall. There is a small fee for use of those machines. Students are responsible for providing your own detergent and laundry supplies though some are available for sale on-site. Like any common area you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself in the laundry room and not leaving any mess behind.

Banking and Shopping How much money should each student bring? That answer really depends on each individual. The program tuition provides for organized activities, housing and meal costs. So there is no real need for any significant amounts of money during the program. A small amount $50 to 100 is reasonable for most students and would cover incidental and textbook costs. In fact we advise that students DO NOT CARRY large sums of money or have valuable items with them. FOLE is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items and program staff cannot hold money or valuables for students or be responsible for any of their 15

finances in any way! Please plan accordingly! Note that there will be excursions, including one to a shopping area, where students can purchase items and souvenirs. So, some may wish to have more money. Many of those areas may have ATM machines available in case your student needs funds but a credit/debit card that works in the United States is preferable.

Health and Well-being The health and well-being of students attending FOLE student summer program is an important concern for us. Please be sure to fill out the medical form accurately and completely when you register your student. IF there are any changes to their medical condition after the form is sent in please notify FOLE (in writing) of the changes and updated information so we can be sure to notify medical professionals should that become necessary. Students will be responsible for the care and administration of ANY medication the student needs to take during their time at the FOLE summer program. Staff members are NOT authorized to administer or hold any medication for students! Students should keep all medication in its original prescription bottle with its RX label. Notify FOLE staff if your medication requires refrigeration so we can help you obtain refrigeration if needed and bring it to them immediately on arrival to the campus. Students will be responsible to keep their medication secure at all times.

Health Insurance Health costs in America can be very expensive. As part of your tuition FOLE will provide basic Health insurance through a plan issued by the MEDEX - Travmed Choice plan. Please note that the insurer will pay medical expense benefits for covered expenses that result directly from a covered accident or sickness and no other cause. Benefits are subject 16

to deductibles, benefit periods, benefit maximums and/or limits shown in the schedule of benefits. See the website for details and schedule of benefits. https://www.medexassist.com/ and https://www.medexassist.com/Individuals/Products/DetailChoiceIB.asp x for more details. Note that there are limits to this coverage and any and all costs not covered by this insurance are the responsibility of the student and student’s family and in no way will FOLE be responsible for any medical payments or costs. If this is a concern it may be advisable to purchase additional health insurance.

General Health and Sleep If at any time a student feels ill or has any medical situation or injury they should notify a FOLE staff member as soon as possible. Also the program can be a very exciting time for students; however they should try to get enough rest so they can take full advantage of the program and its opportunities. Part of learning to be mature is taking responsibility for eating and sleeping habits during times like this.

Because the summer program experience stresses personal responsibility and growth you will not be directly supervised by a summer program staff member at all times.
