SUMMER CAMP 2017© PROSPECTIVE PARTICIPATING STUDENT INFORMATION FOLE has a summer program that challenges students with problem based education skills. FOLE teaches leadership, communication, teamwork and collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity in a very safe and fun environment. Our program is designed around the 21st century skills that are the real keys to success in todays and tomorrows world and workplace. Real confidence comes from within you; you have to believe in yourself and your abilities! And that comes from not just what you know, but more from what you believe you can do! Learn how to overcome challenges, how to see 1|P a g e
setbacks as not obstacles but as opportunities to grow and innovate to succeed! Learn what you really are capable of doing in a FOLE summer program. Learn how to be the confident young men and women that will be leading tomorrow’s world!

FOLE Summer Camp Program Schedule
You will be staying in a residence hall on the beautiful campus of Saint Anselm College in Manchester New Hampshire. Saint Anselm’s is a prestigious liberal arts college and one of the many colleges and Universities in the region.
Two Summer Sessions are being held by FOLE at the beautiful and prestigious Saint Anselm College in Manchester New Hampshire, USA:
This program is totally run and organized by FOLE and Saint Anselm College does NOT administer or run any part of this program and is not responsible for any part of it!

Tuition and Expenses for the 2017 two week FOLE Summer Student Program No application fee is due – just complete and submit your application. Tuition for 2017 is $2,500 USD and includes the following: • Housing in a secure, airconditioned campus residence hall • Meals - breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items • Books and supplies • All program-sponsored academic and residential activities • Health insurance • FOLE T-Shirt • FOLE ID • FOLE Summer Camp Graduation/Completion Certificate • 5 Day & 4 Night Tour
- ATTENTION – Application Fee, travel to and from USA, Documentation, Visa, and personal expenses are not included. Please contact Travel or Academic Agency for necessary arrangements.
Eligibility To be eligible for the FOLE summer program at Saint Anselm college students should:

Be mentally and physically fit and able to handle being away from home for several weeks and able to handle traveling to and from the United States unassisted.

Have an academic average of B+ or better.
•
If a non-native English speaker => must have at least intermediate English level skills (equal to a TOEFL score of at least 55).
HOW TO APPLY To apply to FOLE summer student program at Saint Anselm College all students must: 1. Complete the online application https://foleusa.com/new-page
2. Complete the three student short essays on application form; and 3. submit the following supplemental information • Teacher recommendation (Attached and to be submitted to FOLE email fole.usa@gmail.com Once a completed application and supplemental information is received applicants will be notified by email of the admission decision within 10-12 business days. Qualified applicants will be admitted until all spaces in the program are filled or the application deadline of May 10, 2017 is reached. Please note that many of our programs fill
up well before the application deadline so we strongly encourage you to apply early.
IF ACCEPTED You will receive an admittance email admitting you to the program. In order to secure your spot we must receive a $500 USD non-refundable deposit within 15 business days of your admittance email. In that email you will also receive payment information - FOLE will forward specific instructions on the transfer of fund to FOLE – USA Bank Routing numbers and SWIFT code, as well as additional program information and a link to the registration forms that must be completed and mailed (NOT EMAILED) to us and received (Not postmarked) no later than May 31, 2017. CANCELLATION POLICY Should unforeseen circumstances require a student to withdraw from the program, we will issue a partial refund of the program fee, excluding the $500 nonrefundable deposit, as follows (refunds shall be on a Bank-to-Bank basis through the use of routing numbers and Bank SWIFT code for accurate accounting of all funds): •

Prior to 10 days before start date of program: 100% refund of program fee balance, excluding $500 nonrefundable deposit. Within 10 days of program start date: 75% refund of program fee balance, excluding $500 nonrefundable deposit. During first five days of program: 50% refund of program fee balance, excluding $500 nonrefundable deposit.

What are 21st Century Skills, and why so important?
21st century skills are a series of higher-order skills, abilities, and learning dispositions that have been identified as being required for success in 21st century society and workplaces by educators, business leaders, academics, and governmental agencies. This is part of a growing international movement focusing on the skills required for students to master in preparation for success in a rapidly changing, digital society. Many of these skills are also associated with deeper learning, which is based on mastering skills such as analytic reasoning, complex problem solving, and teamwork. Learning and innovation skills: critical thinking and problem solving, communications and collaboration, creativity and innovation

Goals of Summer Camp 2017 By

COMPARE AND CONTRAST CULTURES CHINA/USA
Education Goals for the camp: English immersion and essay writing; Introduction to American Culture and NH, Ma and Me region; High school/college visits; Confidence building; • collaboration & networking, • teamwork, • critical thinking, • public speaking, • thinking out of the box, • problem solving, • grit and perseverance; and, • Fun and games!
Understanding by Design - UBD Students will have multiple opportunities to experience American culture in relaxed and directed activities. The FOLE SUMMER CAMP 2017 is built upon UBD.
FOLE individual student goals for the camp Arrive nervous - leave confident with lot of personal great memories, new friends and fun experiences - Participant return home feeling more capable and able to handle new situations.
Experience and Learning Students will have hands on and personal opportunities to compare and contrast cultures. Essays will be built out of personal experiences. Experiences giving transfer to student participant’s own life and knowledge base.
Travel For some this will be their first opportunity to travel outside their native land and experience a different culture.

Programs start at 9:00 with announcements, day’s plans and celebrate any special days (birthdays etc.) 9:00 to 12:00 Classes/Activities with students being in smaller group sessions for most activities •
Problem solving activity- Small teams given Survival game scenario to solve. Staff observes with class discussion about solutions! (Teamwork and critical thinking skills) • English speaking activity- Each camper will share with group one life experience in English for a minimum of 5 minutes. Graded by staff with results shared in individual counseling session later in day. Todays topic- My biggest success in life. • Introduction to todays English essay writing lesson. Topic today is “ Choosing the best vocabulary to support your essays theme” Essay will be graded and discussed in counseling session! 12:00- 12:45 Lunch and personal time
Group discussion- solutions and methods! • English vocabulary lesson- Todays word list- words involved with sports and teams. • Team mental/physical sports- Todays objective- Team distance egg toss. (Strategy and solutions) • Class- American culture and EducationTodays topic –sports and influence on American culture. • Leadership Lesson- Todays topicWhen to personally lead, when to delegate. 5:45- 6:30 Dinner and personal time. 6:30 -8: 00 Individual counseling with staff and Game night (Various strategy games) 8:00 -9:30 Personal time then lights out!
