Currier’s 200th WIN In his second season as head coach at Dayton, Dennis Currier achieved his 200th career win in a 3-0 triumph over the Belmont Bruins on Sept. 4, 2006. A burst of offensive productivity that has been missing in action for the Flyers up to that point in the season helped carry them to victory and bring home win No. 200 for Coach Currier.

TWO FOR ONE The electric environment of night games at Baujan field saw another epic match, as well as a goal for the ages, on Sept. 29, 2005, when the Flyers tied the Michigan Wolverines 2-2. Senior midfielder Terry Alvino sent a blistering laser of a shot worthy of his current professional status over the helpless Michigan keeper from 35 yards out to even the score.

X MARKS THE SPOT The heated rivalry between the Xavier Musketeers and the Flyers continued in a classic clash on Oct. 28, 2005. An invigorated UD squad trounced the Musketeers 4-0, adding another notch in the win column for UD in the on-going Dayton/Xavier grudge match.

GOING TO THE BIG DANCE The 1997 Dayton Flyers came from out of nowhere to take the Atlantic 10 conference by storm. After conquering the Atlantic 10 regular season and post-season tournament, the Flyers found themselves only one game away from the NCAA tournament. The NCAA play-in game that ensued saw the Flyers lose a heartbreaker to the Rider Broncs 3-1.

DRAW THE LINE

WIN IN A MINUTE

The steady rainfall that soaked Baujan field right up until kick off could not dampen the spirits of the then-unranked Flyers when they took on No. 12 Oakland Golden Grizzlies on September 26, 2003. The Flyers fought valiantly and earned a draw against a nationally-ranked opponent, the first step in a series of victories that would eventually propel them to a No. 8 national ranking for a brief period later in the season.

Yet another nationally-ranked opponent fell under the mighty boot of the Flyers in 2003 when UD defeated the Massachusetts Minutemen on October 12 in dramatic, come-from-behind fashion. The Flyers twice fell behind, with UMass going up 1-0 and then again 2-1 after the Flyers evened the score in the first half. UD then went on to score two unanswered goals and added another notch to their giant-killer belt with the 3-2 victory.

Baujan Field, has undergone nearly $1.2 million in renovations over the past five years. It is recognized as one of the nation’s most unique collegiate stadiums. The facility boasts a wellmaintained natural grass surface with an irrigation system as well as a lighting system, allowing for a great atmosphere for night games.

2009 :: MEN’S SOCCER

Baujan Field has played host to a number of postseason soccer events. The Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship was hosted in 1998, and again in 2002. The Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship was held there in 1996, 1999 and most recently in 2007. A first round match of the 1999 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship called Baujan Field home as the Flyers advanced with a 3-2 win over Evansville. The Flyer men’s soccer team has twice played NCAA Play-In games at the historic venue in 1997 and 1998.

A veteran head coach who has achieved resounding success on the college level with three programs, DENNIS CURRIER has earned the reputation as an outstanding tactician, leader, organizer and motivator. During head coach Dennis Currier’s tenure at Dayton, six former Flyers currently play professional soccer in North America and Europe. Chris Rolfe and Dasan Robinson are with the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer. In the United States Leagues First Division, Terry Alvino plays for the Minnesota Thunder, Mark Schulte with the Cleveland City Stars and Omar Jarun with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Lubo Bogdanvov is a member of Said in the Czech Republic First Division. The University of Dayton has had six Major League Soccer draft picks since the 2000 season. Mark Schulte started it all as a fifth round selection of the Tampa Bay Mutiny in the 2000 draft. Other Flyers in the MLS Draft included Denny Clanton who was picked in the 2004 Fourth Round (38th Overall), Chris Rolfe in the 2005 Third Round (29th Overall) and Dasan Robinson in the 2006 Supplemental Round. Dayton was one of six schools with multiple selections to the 2007 U.S. Soccer’s National Training Camp as Chris Rolfe and Dasan Robinson were invited. UCLA led with three former players, while Dayton, Virginia, Portland, Furman and Wake Forest each tallied two. Chris Rolfe participated with the U.S. Soccer National Team in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Rolfe was one of 26 players named to the U.S. national team’s roster. Rolfe was also a 2005 MLS Rookie of the Year nominee.

6

Following a successful rookie campaign in 2006, Dasan Robinson once again proved to be the latest in a line of “diamond in the rough” draft picks in his second Chicago Fire season. The University of Dayton product appeared in 23 regular season league matches with 21 starts for a total of 1,820 minutes played in 2007. The Flyers seek to build upon a record-setting 2008 season which included a program-best 15 victories, a record-tying 46 goals scored, a third A-10 Championship title and an appearance in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. The Flyers are the favorites to win the 2009 Atlantic 10 title and are in the Top 30 in three national preseason polls. Dayton went into the season ranked No. 18 by the College Soccer News preseason rankings, No. 19 in the Top Drawer Soccer 2009 Men’s Tournament 48 Ranking and No. 30 in the NSCAA National Preseason Rankings.

2

The Dayton men’s soccer program has enjoyed a winning record in 10 of the last12 seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three time – in 1997 and 1998 and just this past season in 2008. Since 1992 the Flyers have excelled at Baujan Field with a 99-34-12 record, good for a .724 winning percentage. Last season UD went 9-0-0 at home. Since becoming the exclusive home to UD soccer, Baujan Field has grown into one of the top soccer venues in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Dayton twice has played NCAA Play-In games at the historic venue 1997 and 1998.

DAYTON Flyers in the COMMUNITY

The UD Men’s Soccer team is dedicated to achieving excellence on the field and in the classroom, but the program is also highly committed to being actively involved in the Miami Valley community. When the Flyers are not dominating opponents or hitting the books, the men’s soccer team can often be found participating in various volunteer activities around the city. In the past the Flyers have participated in Drive 75, which is a service event sponsored by the Red Scare to benefit both The Dayton Area Food Bank and Secret Smiles Organizations. Players assisted the event organizers with collecting money and food donations outside of UD Men’s basketball games. The Flyers have also been involved with a number of off-campus volunteer activities. The team has participated in volunteer camps and local recreational centers, as well as helping put on free soccer clinics for children nearby suburbs. The Flyers also have volunteered at local elementary schools where they read to students and play games with them at recess. One of the bigger events on the Flyers’ volunteer schedule comes at Christmas time, when the team will put together a number of care packages containing presents and food for families in need during the holiday season.

With a disciplined, attacking style of soccer, Dennis Currier builds succesful programs everywhere he coaches.

Dasan Robinson, who was drafted and signed with the Chicago Fire of the MLS, also was invited to the U.S. National Team tryouts.

The most recent evidence: Currier and the Flyers raised the 2008 Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship trophy and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, culminating one of the most extraordinary seasons in University of Dayton men’s soccer history. His UD squad went 154-3 overall, claimed the Atlantic 10 Tournament championship, earned UD’s first-ever berth to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament and finished No. 1 in the NSCAA/adidas® Middle Atlantic Regional Rankings and No. 19 in the national rankings. During the course of the season, the Flyers also won two tournaments, beat No. 15 Saint Louis - a first for the program - in the midst of a six-game unbeaten streak to start A-10 play.

Other Flyers in the professional ranks include Omar Jarun who was drafted by the USL’s Atlanta Silverbacks, Terry Alvino, who earned a starting role for the USL’s Minnesota Thunder, and Lubo Bogdanov who signed with Cheml in the first division of the Czech Republic.

With a 42-22-13 record at Dayton over the previous four seasons, Currier is fourth on the all-time wins list. He has produced the Flyers’ impressive results on and off the field based on the principals of dedication, a commitment to excellence, discipline and open communication with his players. Four former Flyers under Currier’s reign have played professionally in North America and Europe.

NCAA -

The Flyers have enjoyed home field dominance under Currier’s direction. UD went 9-0-0 in 2008 and 7-0-2 in 2007 at Baujan Field. Heading into the 2009 season, Dayton is on a 20-game unbeaten streak (17-0-3) on their home turf that dates back to Oct. 28, 2006. Players have excelled with Currier as their mentor as 11 different Flyers have earned some form of postseason honors. In his first year as UD’s coach, Currier led the Flyers to an 11-5-4 overall record in 2005, finishing tied for second in the Atlantic 10. Currier, named UD’s head coach on January 24, 2005, opened the 2005 season with a 2-1 exhibition win over No. 18 Ohio State. The Flyers also won their season opener, 3-2, at Cincinnati and won both games of their home tournament, the Dayton Marriott Flyer Classic. Currier charged his team with continuing the Flyers’ excellence at its home facility and the team responded with a 6-1-1 record at Baujan Field in 2005. As head coach of Incarnate Word for four seasons, Currier’s squads racked up a record of 62-15-7. His first team at UIW in 2001 was 12-8-1, and won the first of four straight conference championships. In 2002, Currier guided the team to a 16-1-3 record, a No. 12 national ranking and the school’s first NCAA tournament bid. In 2003, UIW was 16-2-2, returned to the NCAA tournament and was ranked 10th in the nation. In 2004 the team finished the season ranked fifth nationally with a record of 18-4-1 and a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament’s round of eight. In addition to the four conference titles, Currier’s teams were ranked No. 2 in the region three times. He guided Incarnate Word to a school-record 34-game regular-season unbeaten streak from 2001 to 2003. His teams had the highest grade point average in the conference two of his four seasons at UIW.

NAIA Final Four

Currier has led every program he has coached to the National Tournament.

Currier has coached eight NSCAA All-Americans, three NSCAA Scholar All-Americans, three conference Players of the Year, a conference tournament Most Outstanding Player and he recruited three players who went on to be named conference Freshmen of the Year. Before his stop at Incarnate Word, Currier coached for seven seasons at Harris-Stowe State College in Saint Louis, Mo., where he amassed a 126-34-5 record. Harris-Stowe was ranked nationally from 1996 to 2000, and advanced as far as the 2000 NAIA national semifinals. While at Harris-Stowe, Currier was named Regional Coach of the Year three times. During his 16-year career, Currier’s coaching record stands at 230-71-26. Off the field, Currier and the Flyers are actively involved in the Miami Valley community. The Flyers mentor students in elementary school, give free soccer lessons and visit patients at children’s hospitals. Currier is a 1992 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He and his wife Tonya are the parents of two daughters: Sydney and Morgan Elizabeth.

13

2009 :: MEN’S SOCCER

In addition to breaking the record for wins in a single season, Dayton tied the school record for goals scored in a season (46). The Flyers racked up more honors during the season than any team in UD history, including Dayton’s first ever consideration for the Hermann Trophy Award in Alex Torda. For Dayton, 10 players amassed 27 postseason honors. On top of that, the Flyers have earned the NSCAA/adidas Team Academic Award for the past two seasons.

THE COACHES CHASE BROOKS ASSISTANT COACH 3RD SEASON AT UD ECKERD, 2003

Chase Brooks enters his third season on the Dayton Flyers staff, helping head coach Dennis Currier on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Off the field his focus is on recruiting, scheduling, travel and player development, as well as serving as co-director of the UD Soccer Academy. He helped the Flyers to their first Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship in 10 years as UD won three games in four days to capture the title. Dayton went 15-4-3 overall in 2008, earned UD’s first-ever berth to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship and finished No. 1 in the NSCAA/adidas® Middle Atlantic Regional Rankings and No. 19 in the national rankings. Brooks’ coaching was one of the primary reasons goalkeeper Zac Gibbens earned an Honorable Mention, All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2007. Under Brooks’ guidance Gibbens went 10-4-5 with a 0.89 goals against average, showcased a .783 save percentage and recorded six shutouts. As part of the NIU coaching staff for two years, Brooks helped guide the Huskies the Mid-American Conference tournament championship, the MidAmerican regular season championship, and an automatic bid to the NCAA National Tournament. Brooks assisted in training the defenders and goalkeepers that ranked No. 1 nationally in team shutouts and goals against average. Prior to NIU, Brooks worked for his alma mater, Eckerd College. After a fouryear letter winning career, he remained at EC as an assistant coach while he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in management in May 2003. 2009 SEASON PREVIEW IN CURRIER’S WORDS Experienced. Hardworking. Competitive Winners. That’s how University of Dayton men’s soccer coach Dennis Currier describes his 2009 squad. 10 SENIORS ARE BACK FOR 2009 - KYLE BASIL, RANDY DENNIS, RYAN HANDBURY, RYAN HARTMAN, ISAAC KISSI, BEN MURRAY, JEFF POPELLA, SONNY RENNER, ALEX TORDA & ZACH WEISS: “This is a very special class for Dayton and our program. We certainly want the seniors to have their last year be the best. They’ve accomplished a lot since they’ve been here so there would be nothing better than to celebrate that departure with another championship.”

THE WALL - THE UD DEFENSE POSTED EIGHT SHUTOUTS IN 2008: “Randy Dennis, Jack Pearson, Ryan Handbury, Tommy Watkins and Sonny Renner have been together and have lots of experience. That experience will certainly help us this year. They were very organized last year and played a big role in our success and I think they have been the foundation of our team for the previous two years before our offense really turned it on.”

FRONT & CENTER - THE FLYER OFFENSE OUTSCORED OPPONENTS 2 TO 1 AND WERE RANKED 9TH IN NCAA SCORING: “Talking about key contributors on offense you have to mention senior Alex Torda. He’s coming off another successful year so we are going to look for big things from him again. Senior Isaac Kissi has been a guy that has the attributes to be one of the better attacking players in the A-10. Senior Jeff Popella needs to have a big year. He has the qualities to be a very successful forward at the Division I level.” “Leadership is a critical factor in winning championships. We return four captains with Ben Murray, Zach Weiss, Ryan Handbury, and AlexTorda. It is a dynamic group because they each lead in a different ways. Torda leads by example; Handbury is more of an outspoken leader. Murray and Weiss lead the team both on and off the field.”

THE MIDDIES - DAYTON LED THE A-10 IN ASSISTS PER GAME IN 2008: “Seniors Ben Murray and Zach Weiss are very experienced and they continue to get better each year. They will be the key players this year in the midfield. Freshman Ryan Bauer looks very good this preseason. He shows some promise and is going to vie for some time and really push some of the returning guys.”

THE FLYERS ARE PICKED TO DEFEND THEIR A-10 TITLE: “Any time you come off winning a championship you have to expect to get some accolades and have more pressure on you. The pressure we put on ourselves far outweighs any other pressure that can be put on us. Everybody remembers how great that felt last year to win a championship and that stays with you.” 15

2009 :: MEN’S SOCCER

“We have an exciting style of soccer that is fun for fans to watch.”

THIS KID’S A KEEPER TYLER PICARD POSTED A .97 GAA, SECOND BEST IN UD HISTORY: “We have Tyler Picard coming back as part of the defensive set up. He had a tremendous first season with us and is an extremely composed goal keeper. I think you can look for Sam Cooksey to be that steady backup.”

NCAA COMPLIANCE

WHAT IS A PROSPECTIVE STUDENTATHLETE/”PROSPECT”?

A prospect is any student who has started classes for the ninth (9th) grade, any student who receives financial assistance or other benefits from UD and/or its athletics representative that are not normally provided to prospective students generally. You become a “recruited prospective student-athlete” at a particular college if any coach or representative of the college’s athletics interests (booster or representative) approaches you (or any member of your family) about enrolling and participating in athletics at that college. Activities by coaches or boosters that cause you to become a recruited prospective student-athlete are: • Providing you with an official visit* • Placing more than one telephone call to you or any other member of your family • Visiting you or any other member of your family anywhere other than the college campus * You may take a maximum of five “official visits” with no more than one to any single institution

NCAA COMPLIANCE THE NCAA AND YOU

The University of Dayton is committed to the principle of institutional control in operating its athletics program in a manner that is consistent with the letter and spirit of NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations.

34

STUDENT LEARNING SUPPORT

Academics works closely with the Student Learning Support (SLS) office on campus to provide students with tutoring and disability support services. The intent of the tutorial program is to provide academic assistance in areas that include review of class discussion and notes, study strategies, and other information that is imperative to the respective class, while services from DSS include adaptive technology, extended test time, and note-taking.

AWARDS

• All-Academic Team Recognizes student-athletes who earned the highest cumulative grade point average on their respective teams. • 4.00 Flyers Award Given to those who achieved a perfect grade point average during winter or fall semesters. • 3.50 Honorees Student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or above during either the fall or winter semesters. • Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award The Presidential Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award is designed to be the most prestigious honor presented by the Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes and the Office of the Provost. It serves to recognize two student-athletes, one male and one female, who have demonstrated academic excellence, qualities of leadership and service to the University of Dayton community.

The University’s commitment is to maintain control of its athletics programs through cooperation between responsible administrators, coaches, faculty, all institutional staff members, studentathletes and representatives of the University’s athletics interests.

A MESSAGE TO PROSPECTS...

To participate in varsity athletics, student-athletes must receive “qualifier” status determined by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Please visit www.NCAAClearinghouse. net for further information. It is never too early for student-athletes to start planning for college. Call the NCAA’s “Wanna Play? Know the Rule” hotline at 1-800-638-3731 to hear recorded information and order your free copy of the NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student-Athlete.

ASK BEFORE YOU ACT

The importance of following all NCAA rules and regulations is imperative to maintaining the integrity of the University of Dayton. We ask all alumni, current student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, their families and friends to help the University protect the athletic eligibility of our student-athletes and the reputation of the University by adhering to the rules and regulations of the NCAA and by contacting the UD Compliance Office or the NCAA with all questions. With questions regarding the information above, contact Matt Tanney, Coordinator for Compliance, in the UD Compliance Office at (937)-229-1285 or Matt.Tanney@notes.udayton.edu.

At the University of Dayton, the health and well being of our student-athletes is a primary concern. We strive to prevent injuries through pre-participation physical examinations, well-designed conditioning programs, warm-ups, proper practice planning, and appropriate equipment selection. When an athletic injury occurs, our goal is to provide the best medical care possible from the initial first-aid to the follow-up care and rehabilitation.

All student-athletes perform basic strength training with a general emphasis on explosive lifts that involve as much of the body as possible. Conditioning programs are designed to prepare student-athletes for the specific metabolic demands of their sport. Core training, agility work and sport specific exercises are then incorporated into each program to prepare each student-athlete for competitive success.

ADMINISTRATION DR. DANIEL J.CURRAN UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

VICE PRESIDENT/DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

Daniel J. Curran is president of the University of Dayton, recognized as a top-tier national research university and one of the 10 best Catholic universities in the country. The Philadelphia native became the University of Dayton’s 18th president and first lay leader on July 1, 2002. By almost every measure — from enrollment to research dollars to rankings — the University of Dayton has grown in stature during his presidency. Since 2002, the University of Dayton has established centers of excellence in nanotechnology; fuels and combustion; ladar and optical communications; and advanced sensor technology. The University launched the nation’s first accelerated law curriculum, started a doctor of physical therapy program and introduced one of the nation’s first bachelor’s degrees in human rights studies.

A former Flyer student-athlete himself, Tim Wabler is the seventh man to serve as the University of Dayton’s Director of Athletics. As UD’s Vice-President and Director of Athletics, Wabler is responsible for the oversight of 17 intercollegiate athletics programs, on-campus athletic facilities including Baujan Field and the Frericks Center, and the University of Dayton Arena with the surrounding Arena Sports Complex.

The University also constructed an Innovation Center in the School of Engineering; built a sports complex; and opened the Dayton Early College Academy, a charter school on campus that prepares first-generation college students to earn a high school diploma and college credits at the same time. In the residential arena, the University built two facilities that combine living and learning — Marianist Hall, a residence hall with learning spaces, and ArtStreet, an imaginative housing and arts education complex in the University neighborhood. RecPlex, an ultramodern fitness and recreation complex, opened in 2006.

Since Wabler has been part of the Dayton Athletics Division, the Flyers have experienced significantly improved competitive success. Since 1998, UD has had 26 conference championships and had 20 teams reach the post-season. In the nine years prior to 1998, the Flyers had only seven conference championships and one tournament appearance.

Curran’s forward-thinking, innovative approach also translates to the playing fields. As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division I board of directors from 2004-2008, Dr. Curran helped shape academic reforms designed to improve the graduation rate of student-athletes. He also has served on the executive committee and Division I-AA/I-AAA Presidential Advisory Group and the Higher Learning Commission. A sociologist by training, he is passionate about issues of social justice. In 2007, he received the Joseph E. Lowery Human Rights Legacy Award from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference as well as the Humanitarian Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Dayton for his “personal advocacy and energy toward building a more inclusive community.” In 2005, Dr. Curran joined University of Dayton students on a relief trip to hurricane-stricken Mississippi. In 2002, he received the Eternal Flame Award, an international award given for “exceptional contribution to the field of Holocaust education.” Dr. Curran spent 23 years in various administrative and faculty positions at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, most recently as executive vice president and vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Curran and his wife, Claire, have two sons, Sean and Aidan.

Megan PEASE

Assistant Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator Flyer student-athlete and administrator Megan Pease returned to UD in August 2008. Pease was a standout volleyball player from 1999 to 2003. After graduation, she first worked in the Athletics Division as UD’s Compliance Coordinator for all 17 Flyer sports teams from 2004 to 2006. She assisted UD’s Associate Director of Athletics in all areas of NCAA and A-10 regulations. She then was Dayton’s Assistant Director of Marketing for one year before taking a position with Paychex, Inc. in Dayton. While working in the UD athletics administration, she also served as the Faculty Advisor for the Flyer Student-Athlete Advisory Board. During her first stint at Dayton, Pease implemented the community service element of the NCAA Life Skills program at the University of Dayton, the successful initial marketing of the 2007 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional at UD Arena, and the monitoring of squad lists, initial eligibility and continuing eligibility for UD’s nearly 400 student-athletes. Pease came to UD following a prep career that concluded with her being named the Ohio Division I Player of the Year in 1998 at Mansfield (OH) Madison High School. She was part of a UD volleyball program that won 102 matches, including an A-10 Regular Season Championship in 2001 and UD’s first-ever A-10 Tournament title in 2003. She was a senior leader of the Flyer team that won UD’s first-ever NCAA Tournament match with a stunning five-game upset of host Michigan State. She was a three-time recipient of the Dr. R. Elaine Driedame Coach’s Award. As a junior and senior, she was the president of UD’s Student-Athlete Advisory Board. Pease holds two degrees from the University of Dayton. She earned her Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems (with a minor in Operations Management) in 2003, and her MBA (specialization in Marketing) in 2004.

36

Tim Wabler

Wabler first returned to the University’s Athletics Division as an administrator in 1993 as Associate Director Athletics. As Associate AD, Wabler worked in every area of athletics administration -- overseeing UD’s sports programs, student-athlete support services, development and major facility projects.

In the last two years, Dayton athletics has reached even higher heights. Flyer teams have combined to have their best winning percentage than any other period in school history and set milestones in several sports while still maintaining graduation rates that are among the highest in the country. The highlights include the following: Women’s soccer has earned five NCAA tournament appearances (including a berth in the “Sweet Sixteen” in 2001) and has won eight of the last 11 A-10 regular season championships. Women’s volleyball has earned four NCAA tournament appearances and has won nine A-10 titles (regular season and/or tournament). Men’s soccer has won five A-10 titles and played in the 2008 NCAA tournament. The baseball team’s record for wins in a season was 25 after the 2000 campaign -- since then UD has won at least 30 games six times and won the A-10 regular season championship in 2009. And the Flyer football team has won the Pioneer Football League championship nine times in the 16-year history of the league, and has taken home the 2002 and 2007 NCAA Division I-AA Mid-Major National Championships. As success on the field has improved, UD student-athletes have also performed in the classroom. The Flyers’ combined cumulative grade point average has risen to a school-record 3.235. UD has had 34 Academic All-Americans in the last nine years. Only Nebraska, Rensselaer Poly and Rice had more. The Flyers had three Arthur Ashe Scholar-Athletes in 2005-06, the most in school history. Dayton is consistently among the league leaders in placing student-athletes on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, even though the Flyers participate in fewer A-10 sports than all but one school. UD had the most players on the PFL Academic Honor Roll for the ninth consecutive year in 2008. Wabler is also the administrator who oversees UD’s athletic fund-raising efforts and long-term finances. Radio and television agreements have been expanded to increase exposure for Flyer athletics. Wabler has been actively involved in numerous A-10 Conference committees, including the Championships Review Committee, Baseball Committee and Soccer Committee. His committee work also extends to service to the University community. He currently serves on UD’s Campus Master Planning Committee, and has been a past member of UD’s Committee on Diversity in Community and Resource Allocation Steering Committee. Wabler is also an NCAA Peer Reviewer and a member of the Greater Dayton YMCA’s Board of Trustees. A 1974 graduate of UD’s School of Business Administration, Wabler has also completed the Sports Management Institute Executive Program. A former member of UD’s Athletic Board, Wabler was a four-year letterwinner and three-time Pitcher of the Year for UD. He served as team captain as a senior. A 1970 graduate of Chaminade High School in Dayton, Wabler is the first Dayton native to serve as the University’s Director of Athletics. Tim and his wife Arlene have two daughters, Sarah and Leigh Anne.
