Creative Drama Classes - Ages 3-5 Our Creative Drama classes lay a foundation for exploration through drama, developing imagination and encouraging our youngest campers to gain confidence in sharing their own ideas while learning to work as a team.
Drama Duos - Ages 3-5 Designed for you and your child to enjoy together, Drama Duos takes you both on an adventurous romp through stories, picture books, and nursery rhymes using creative play.
Drama Makers - Ages 4-5 In this class, students play with their favorite stories and picture books through theatre, crafts, song, and dance. Growing artistically and socially in an independent environment, campers let their imaginations go wild and harness their creativity to collaborate with others.
Playbuilding Classes - Ages 6-10 Our Playbuilding series forms the core of our classes and provides opportunities for children of all experience levels to get in on the fun! They are designed to be repeated, so students can continue to develop through a process that emphasizes play, encourages discovery, and builds foundation skills in theatre arts.
Storybook Adventures - Ages 6-7 With picture books serving as a springboard, children have the opportunity to develop fundamental acting skills while working as a team to bring the stories off the page! Exercising their natural creativity through the actor’s toolbox of body, voice, and imagination, students gain confidence and presence on stage.
Treasure Trunk Theatre - Ages 6-7 In this class, a magical treasure trunk with ever-changing contents becomes the basis for a collaborative drama experience. Using movement, vocal work, improvisation, and creative drama techniques, students will stretch their imaginations and take ownership of their words, actions and ideas to develop a story like you’ve never heard before!
Staging Stories - Ages 8-10 Students develop characters, explore plot, and create stories based on folklore, fables, myths, and legends. Staging Stories provides students with the creative tools to build the essentials of acting, commitment, and teamwork.
Playvention - Ages 8-10 Playvention is a made-up word combining play and invention. Playvention is also a class in which your child will have the best time ever inventing a play. Students in Playvention test their creativity as they develop a basic story outline as a team, work together to create their own lines and staging, and then bring it all to life.
DRAMA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS CONT. Emerging Artists Series - Ages 11-18 The Emerging Artists Series allows students to explore their interests in a rigorous, yet highly supportive, environment. All classes are designed to be repeated, and students explore new content in each session. This process provides them with new characters and stories to explore —reinforcing existing skills while building new ones.
Acting - Ages 11-14 Students focus on acting and character development through exercises, techniques, and improvisation. They also engage in intensive, script-based scene work to find deeper meaning in the written word.
Scene Study - Ages 13-18 Designed for a variety of experience levels, this class develops skill and confidence as students analyze, rehearse, and perform scenes from classic and contemporary plays. This class emphasizes working with other actors to develop relationships onstage.
Auditions - Ages 12-18 Teachers help students prepare a monologue and a song that they can confidently take to their next audition (or two contrasting monologues for students who prefer not to sing). The class also explores audition formats and gives students the opportunity to participate in a mock audition. Pre-requisites: Acting, Scene Study, or comparable experience.
Young Artists Company This dedicated ensemble strives for excellence through a range of challenging performance opportunities throughout the year. Audition Required. Contact Ashley Cartagena at acartagena@nashvillect.org for more information.

NCT welcomes all kids and families to our performances, but we know that some families hesitate to bring their children to live theatre without knowing how they might react. The sensory friendly performances are designed to be a safe and accepting environment where children with disabilities and their typically developing peers are free to speak and move in reaction to the story being told onstage. NCT provides a Comfort Room in the back of our theatre where audience members can always adjust both light and sound levels. This Comfort Room is available for any performance at NCT.
