Stretch wrap is a strong and flexible recycled material that is used regularly to provide maximum protection from dirt, dust and stains for fine fabrics and delicate upholstery. It won’t damage wood or metal trim and we supply it routinely at no extra charge. Pad wrapping is also used for all wooden furniture during packing, loading and while in transit on the truck. A crating option is available for precious antiques and heirlooms. And when we’re in your house every vulnerable surface that we will be near is protected — from the carpeting and flooring to the woodwork. Finally, when your belongings are in a moving van for an interstate move, they are supported by full air-ride suspension (tractor and trailer) for the smoothest ride. By using a tablet alongside a wireless barcode scanner, your Professional Van Operator or crew member can quickly scan the contents of your move and note their condition (to create the Household Goods Descriptive Inventory). Most important, the inventory is uploaded to Atlas systems and accessed at destination to securely identify your items as they are rescanned or checked off upon delivery.

Your Atlas point of contact will meet with you before the move to learn your details and specific needs. Your Atlas Account Representative answers your questions, performs the moving survey to arrive at an estimate of moving expenses, and initiates the move with all other members of the Atlas team...and remains available to you throughout your move. If your move is a corporate relocation, your Account Representative can also assist with questions about your employer’s relocation policy.
Your go-to person during the move. He or she handles all the details of a moving checklist, coordinates packing dates, schedules your preferred pickup and delivery dates with the agency crew, works through any change of plans with you, and knows how to answer any questions throughout the move.
Your Atlas Professional Van Operator He or she is your on-site point person who knows how to handle your possessions safely, load them securely, and supervise the crew. He or she will provide a “Moving Day By Day” guide, “How To” brochures and introduce you to moveAtlas — a free mobile app with expert advice, planning tips, checklists, and even a shipment tracking feature.
Protect your belongings by choosing the option that’s right for you. Valuation refers to the amount of liability that Atlas assumes, and, therefore, the amount you may receive if an item is lost or damaged while in the care of your Atlas Agent. Before you agree to a valuation option, take the time to discuss your options with your Atlas Account Representative. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions. We’re working together on a great relocation for you, and we want you to understand your options and be confident in your decisions.
Estimating Accuracy We work with you to provide the most accurate estimate possible. So, for the best results, take your Atlas Account Representative through every room and storage area, the attic, basement, garage and tool shed. Point out things that may require special handling and packing, such as fragile porcelains, family heirlooms or valuable antiques. Your Account Representative can also assist with the planning for larger special items such as boats or automobiles.
Exploring All the Pricing Options You have several pricing programs to choose from when relocating to another state. Established rates are published in a tariff and are available to customers upon request. Pricing is based on weight, distance and services. Your Atlas Account Representative can help you understand your options and select the services that are best for your unique relocation.
Full-Value Protection Unless you specifically agree to other arrangements, Atlas assumes liability for your shipment based upon your purchase of Full-Value protection — an affordable choice for peace of mind. When you select this option, in the unlikely event that articles are lost, damaged or destroyed, the items will be repaired or replaced at Atlas’ option. You will either receive articles of like-kind and quality, or a cash settlement for repairs or replacement at current value — regardless of the age of the articles.
Basic Protection This is the most economical option, offering basic protection at no additional cost. Claims for loss or damage are based on weight multiplied by an amount per pound. Think carefully before agreeing to the Basic protection option. It may not provide enough coverage in the unlikely event something is lost or damaged. If you choose it, you must make a specific statement on the Order for Service agreeing to it.
Preferred Pick-Up and Delivery Based on your input, your Atlas Account Representative and Customer Service Representative will schedule these important moving dates for you, including the packing that takes place before the move. Once we commit, your packers and movers will arrive on scheduled dates.

Moving Special Items
A designated Customer Service Representative (CSR) is your personal point of contact throughout the move. He or she will contact you early in the process and stay in touch throughout your relocation as your partner. This experienced service professional is just a phone call or email away if you need any additional information or questions answered. After your move, you’ll receive a follow-up call from your CSR to see if there’s anything else we can do for you.
Every item is special, of course, but some items require extra arrangements for packing or transporting. Your Atlas Account Representative and Customer Service Representative will have already made the arrangements with your Professional Van Operator and crew.
Packing Days Packing is among the most important aspects of your move. Simply stated — there are items the pros should pack, things you can pack, and things you should pack yourself. Plus, there are perishable and hazardous items that can’t be moved. See “Packing” on Page 10 for the details, and how Atlas can help in this very important part of your move.
Protected House On moving day, we go to great lengths to protect your items and home, including using special padding for staircases and other interiors.

Loading It’s like solving a giant jigsaw puzzle in three dimensions. Your Atlas Van Operator does it right, so your things travel safely and securely.
Household Goods Inventory The Household Goods Descriptive Inventory Form — it’s an important and proven system for your peace of mind, and it’s required of the Atlas team. Participation by the customer can be waived, but must be waived at origin. An Atlas team member documents all cartons and separate items on the form at origin, noting descriptions and conditions of each. Upon delivery, the customer (if not waived) and an Atlas team member review the Customer Check-Off Sheet and verify that all items were received. In select locations, the inventory process involves wireless barcode scanners, and allows the data to be uploaded to Atlas systems for retrieval at destination.
Shipment Tracking Atlas monitors the transportation of your possessions using advanced satellite and information systems. Your Atlas Account Representative and Customer Service Representative will always have your tracking information, or you can easily visit atlasvanlines.com or use our convenient moveAtlas mobile app. TM
Placing Your Furniture Your Atlas crew places your furniture where you want it in your new home. They’ll carry cartons to the kitchen, bedrooms, basement and garage as marked. They’ll unroll rugs, reassemble beds, and place them in rooms as requested.
Unpacking Service If you choose the unpacking service, your Atlas crew will unpack every plate, cup, glass and spoon, place them on the kitchen counter, and take away the packing material when they leave.

There are things the pros should pack. Did you know that improper packing is the most common cause of breakage during relocation? The good news? Atlas packers and movers bring proven skills to prevent breakage. Our trained packers understand that moving fragile, delicate items involves more than simply placing them in boxes. It takes special care. It also takes knowledge of the right packing materials and techniques. Whether you’re moving an aquarium, or treasured antique furniture, they understand which packing materials work best. And they’re experts in the proper packing methods to ensure safe transit. Your Atlas professionals routinely use stretch wrap and pad wrapping. They also use wooden crates for things like crystal chandeliers, pool table slates and antiques. When you trust your entire relocation to Atlas, our packers and movers save you time, worry, and the costs from breakage that can occur with improper packing.

There are things you can pack. Whether you wish to reduce costs, or simply prefer to handle the packing, we can supply the materials and advice you need to do it yourself. If you decide to do your own packing, we recommend you use the same material as our professional packers and movers: double-and triple-cell constructed cartons, cushioning wraps and packing tape. There are things that can’t be moved. Before your possessions are packed and loaded, know which items cannot be shipped because they are either hazardous or perishable. It is difficult to overemphasize the dangers that hazardous materials can pose to your household goods in the way of contamination of combustion. Perishable materials can also cause great inconvenience at destination if they die or spoil during transit.
