Drinking Water: An Invaluable Resource Taken for Granted Water utilities and other stakeholders invest more than $12 million each year in the Water Research Foundation to sponsor research that enables water utilities, public health agencies and other professionals to provide safe and affordable drinking water to the public.

(NewsUSA) – You turn on the tap, and water comes out. Period. Safe, plentiful and affordable drinking water is one of our nation’s most precious resources and something most of us take for granted. But what if you turned the tap and nothing happened, or if the water you drank made you sick? While pouring a glass of water may seem simple, before it arrives at your tap there is a complex process of collecting, storing, treating and distributing that helps ensure its availability and quality. In fact, water utilities implement comprehensive water management plans to ensure that adequate amounts of drinking water are available. These include conservation and reuse, reclamation and sourcing strategies. Drinking water supplied by utilities is always treated to remove contaminants and harmful micro-organisms. That treatment process typically consists of clarification (to remove dirt and other particles), filtration (to remove even smaller particles) and disinfection (to kill bacteria and most viruses). The water is then delivered to residential and commercial customers via an extensive pipe network. Drinking water utilities are committed to protecting public health and constantly monitoring and reassessing their methods for treating water to ensure its quality. In part, this is due to changing government regulations, which periodically alter water quality standards. In addition, they may undertake other forms of treatment not expressly required to comply with regulations in order to ensure that drinking water meets and often exceeds the standards and needs of local communities. For example, they may seek to remove trace compounds that are not currently regulated, and to enhance the aesthetic quality of the water. Drinking water utilities carry out these services while also managing costs and minimizing environmental impacts of their processes; they are committed to keeping drinking water affordable. So the next time you pour a glass of water from the tap, take a moment to honor the commitment and significant investment made to ensure the quality of that water. 10 Questions to Ask About the Medicines You Take

(NewsUSA) – Sponsored News – How many times have you been prescribed medication by your healthcare provider, only to arrive home to find that you’re unsure about possible side effects? Or the correct dose? Or the risk of taking the new medication together with other medicines you already use? Have you ever felt too embarrassed — or too rushed — to clarify medication information or instructions with your provider? If you’ve experienced this, you’re not alone. Nearly half of Americans take a prescription medicine, and more than 20 percent of Americans take at least three. However, according to a recent study conducted by the National Council on Patient Information and Education (NCPIE), more than 6 of every 10 patients are not aware of the risks associated with the medicines they take. Communication with your health care provider about your medications is critical. Yet too few patients speak up, or even know the right questions to ask. In an effort to open the lines of communication between patients and providers, NCPIE, in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)*, has created the Talk Before You Take campaign, a public education initiative to increase communication about medications between health care professionals and patients. “Open and effective communication between patients and health care providers is important and helps to ensure patients make informed decisions about their health care and the medicines they take,” said Dr. Janet Woodcock, director of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “The Talk Before You Take campaign provides a list of questions and other resources that can make it easier for patients to talk with their health care providers about medicines.” Talk Before You Take urges you to ask your health care provider these 10 questions about your medicines: 1. What’s the name of the medicine, and what is it for? 2. How and when do I take it, and for how long? 3. What side effects should I expect, and what should I do about them? 4. Should I take this medicine on an empty stomach or with food? 5. Should I avoid any activities, foods, drinks, alcohol or other medicines while taking this prescription? 6. If it’s a once-a-day dose, is it best to take it in the morning or at night? 7. Will this medicine work safely with my other medications, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and other supplements? 8. When should I expect the medicine to begin to work, and how will I know if it’s working? 9. How should I store it? 10. Is there any additional written information I should read about? Asking your doctor, nurse or pharmacist these 10 simple questions can help you stay healthy and safe. For more information, visit www.talkbeforeyoutake.org.

St. Louis is known for a lot of things, including most dangerous to some. However, its startup business buzz is popping up in every aspect of the community. What else that is catching on in this metro gateway of 2.8 residents, are several Independent media productions gaining momentum. Let the Beats Get You Started a unique reality TV show created by Rodney Maurice Norman, and coproduced by Dynasty TV Is making waves and it hasn't even taped but 4 episodes.

The prizes for the potential winner include a huge music building package from Not Only Street Records LLC., and later more to be announced. For more information about the show or to sponsor email rnorman37 mo@yahoo. com, to request a package.

In the meantime fans will be able to view the show upon airing early winter on Roku TV, Charter TV or DynastyTelevision.com; streaming to over 152 countries and 7 continents.

The show will star 7 (soon to be back to 8, after Wildcard) talented Hip Hop and R&B performers, who are well skilled in their crafts. These are not your average television series talents in training.

Some produce, write and arrange their own music; continuously in the local studio creating new music. They also stay relevant on stage at the many showcases in St. Louis. But now coupled with the hottest Independent PR, and talent promoter Rodney Maurice Norman, they are Destined for Dynasty TV. Rodney's big break came when he met up with the bosses at Dynasty TV Studio, and after reviewing his proposal, a show was born. The cast includes: Rodney N.-host, JB and Shawn C.-co-hosts, Jay B Johnson-Judge, Courtney C.-Judge, Yvette Hicks-Judge, and special guest Judge, and Co-associate producer-Mike Tree; the contestants are: Cookie Natari, J-Streetz, Rickey James, Feva, Buzz the Navigator, Mookie Tolliver and Ain't EZ. The cast is subject to change as the series rolls on to the second half of taping. Let the Beats Get You Started is slated for 13 episodes for the first season with talk of a Season 2 already in the works; possibly distribution with a major cable network. This is not your typical reality TV show competition series, the contestants will be taking to the stage to perform in front of the judges. However, they also will be reaching out into the community, providing services and helping with raising awareness for a cause on air.

St. Louis is known as a giving community, so the show will reflect such, the best way possible. Most shows never have the creator involved as a cast member, but look forward to seeing Rodney Maurice Norman guide his crew to the Destined for Dynasty TV crown.

These guys are very seasoned and well prepared for what lies ahead!
