T

he Department of the Navy Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (DONSAPRO) has contracted social justice performance troupe,

interACT, to facilitate sexual assault and awareness training through interactive live performances — and they’re bringing the show to NAS Patuxent River. During the two scheduled July 22, at Center Stage Theater, audience

members will be given the chance to rehearse bystander intervention and assertive communication strategies that are key to sexual assault prevention. “The interACT troupe presents complicated, realistic scenes about

sexual assault and then invites audience members on stage to practice intervention tactics,” explained Lt. Jackie Pau, public affairs officer with the Navy Office of Information. “It helps Sailors, Marines and other audience members learn [what to do]

when they see these types of situations happening, and gives them a safe space to rehearse bystander intervention strategies.” Pau noted that audience

hen a cup of plain black coffee just won’t cut it, the folks at Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) are making it easier to grab that flavored espresso or blended frappuccino. Two new locations now brewing Starbucks coffee — one in South Engineering Building 2187 and the other in River’s Edge Conference and Catering Center — will soon hold their official ribbon-cutting grand openings. In Building 2187, the Starbucks was added to the existing Eddie’s eatery and the hours of operation were expanded to include

At River’s Edge, the Starbucks will be set up in the same room as the Bald Eagle Pub, and pastries or sweets will be served. “River’s Edge is a bit off the beaten path to do the volume we’ll do at Eddie’s in the business centers,” Arnett said. “But we’re hoping that during the day, people who need to have a quick meeting will come over with a few co-workers to sit at a table, have some coffee and conduct their business.” Arnett is also hoping people will grab a cup of coffee to take back to their desk after eating lunch in the dining room, but the
