Snake BITE!
RATTLESNAKES ARE ONE OF THE MOST FEARED REPTILES IN THE WORLD! NOT EVEN THE BRAVEST PREDATOR WOULD IGNORE ITS VIBRATING RATTLE! BEWARE! Rattlesnakes are named after the rattle that is found at the very end of their tail. They use this when threatened as a warning device. The tongue is composed of two slender cylinders which part at the tip. They flick this in and out of the mouth quickly, bringing in samples of the outside air with all its smells for the snake to hunt down food. Rattlesnakes have a special sixth sense. Special organs, called pit organs, are located on either side of the snout. These organs are heat-sensitive and allow the snake to track, locate and capture their prey in total darkness. When a rattlesnake strikes their prey or enemy, the fangs unfold from the roof of its mouth. Just before it strikes the fangs become fully formed. The fangs are hollow and act like needles to inject the venom into the prey.
