2022 Breeder’s Choice Heifer Futurity

November 14, 2022

The People’s Choice Gelbvieh Futurity Heifer was initiated to increase participation in the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Gelbvieh show and sale and to identify outstanding female genetics within the breed. The annual futurity will be held in November each year, during the NAILE Gelbvieh show in Louisville, Ky. A new Balancer division will be added to the 2022 Heifer Futurity. The Gelbvieh & Balancer futurity winners will be selected by scored balloting of the futurity members present or their designated representative, not by the show judge. The Gelbvieh and Balancer heifers will be voted on separately by the paid futurity memberships from each division. Members may be a part of the Gelbvieh division, Balancer division, or both. The owner(s) of the top three placing Gelbvieh & Balancer heifers will receive cash prizes based upon the futurity membership and entry fees received, less all costs, expenses and administrative fees associated with conducting the futurity. One futurity member from the Gelbvieh division will be drawn as the recipient of the champion Gelbvieh futurity heifer. One futurity member from the Balancer division will be drawn as the recipient of the champion Balancer futurity heifer. Each futurity member (except the consignor of the winning heifer for the Gelbvieh division or the Balancer division) will have one chance in the drawing. Members do not need to be present to win either the Futurity Champion Gelbvieh heifer or Balancer heifer.

Carolina Justice CCRC 586K was the last natural calf out of our joint venture donor cow, Carolina 3326A ET, with R&D Owen Farms. Homozygous black and homozygous polled, Carolina Justice has an excellent EPD profile that would be easy to mate with most bulls. Carolina Justice sports a clean neck and head, but also has that deep soggy middle that makes such great dams. We believe she has the potential to make someone an excellent future donor cow.

Sara has been our standout true purebred from day one. Sara’s pedigree combines two breed leaders. She is an ADS Godfather daughter out of a CCRO Leverage cow. This combination offers calving ease, growth and carcass traits. She ranks in the top 15% of the Gelbvieh breed for Calving Ease while posting a yearling weight of 100. She also ranks in the top 3% for marbling top 25% for $Cow and top 10% for FPI. It’s hard to find a true purebred that can excel in that many areas. Be sure to check her out Nov.14. Thank you for your consideration.

If you like power, performance, and spring of rib then you will love “Kel”. LHC 0193H is a powerhouse female who is backed with maternal excellence on both sides of her pedigree with TJB Anissa 921U on the top side and LHC 25A as her dam. LHC 25A is bound for the donor pen with Kel being the top purebred heifer in the 2020 calf crop and her 2021 bull calf was the heaviest weaned calf in the crop. Kel is easy fleshing and we think is a “can’t miss” female. AIed 3/26/2022 to DBRG Desperado 0085H (AMGV1483403). Pasture Exposed to LHC Ricky Bobby 0183H (AMGV1519365) from 4/13/22 to 6/15/22. Confirmed bred.

Ms. Flare has been my FFA project this year. I bought her dam last year as a bred heifer. Ms. Flare is sired by the past National Champion Balancer bull TJB Rebel Yell who has made such an impact on the Balancer breed. Her dams sire EGL Lifeline also was a past National Champion Balancer Bull. Ms. Flare’s pedigree and EPD’s make her a unique breeding piece. Thank you for looking at my heifer and thank you for considering voting for her show day!

We are proudly offering this black, polled Spring bred 50% Balancer heifer to this inaugural Balancer division of the NAILE Heifer Futurity. She was our granddaughter, Braylin’s, first, and class-winning show heifer at numerous state and national junior shows. Our herd consists of a mixture of Balancer and Purebred Gelbvieh cattle that are adapted for production on Kentucky fescue and tolerant to our four-season weather swings. We demand our females have great udders and to calve every 12 months, with big weaned calves, that are docile, polled, and structurally sound, with acceptable EPD’s. We hope you find this female to your liking and make her your first choice. We cordially ask for your vote! AIed on 6/30/2022 to EGL Lifeline B101 (AMGV1298079). Confirmed bred. Calf will be 50% GV/50% AN.

We are excited about the SAC Conversation calves out of our elite donor, Niki 701E. We have shown 4 of these heifers and they all have made it to the backdrop. LHC 0178H “Carley” has made it to the winner’s circle 5 times as a show heifer. I believe she has a brighter future ahead of her in the donor pen. Carley has 4 donors in her pedigree and those 4 have produced countless champions. Longevity is built into this cow family with 10 generations of females having an average productive age of 16 years. AIed 3/26/2022 to JRI Probity (AMGV1351990). Pasture Exposed to LHC Ricky Bobby 0183H (AMGV1519365) from 4/13/22 to 6/15/22. Confirmed bred.
