OFFERING 26 LOTS Gelbvieh and Balancer® 7 BULL LOTS • 10 OPEN HEIFER LOTS • 2 BRED HEIFER LOTS 3 EMBRYO LOTS • 5 FLUSH LOTS

Gelbvieh and Balancer® Enthusiasts,

Each year Gelbvieh and Balancer® cattle are on display during the National Gelbvieh and Balancer Show and Sale. Breeders travel from across the country to exhibit their cattle, which will be in the spotlight at the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, January 1 through 3, 2023.

During this week, several events are held to showcase the breed which include Gelbvieh and Balancer Futurities, the National Gelbvieh and Balancer Shows, and of course the National Gelbvieh and Balancer Sale. Within the sale, breeders will find genetics they can put to work in their respective herds to positively influence their operations well into the future.

In addition, the junior members, who are the future leaders of our breed, play a role at these events with their junior heifer show as well as their annual heifer raffle ticket fundraiser. The winner of this year’s heifer will be announced during the national sale. Further details about this fundraiser can be found within this catalog. Thank you to Rumfelt Gelbvieh for donating the heifer this year.

On behalf of the American Gelbvieh Association board of directors and staff, we invite you to join us at the National Gelbvieh and Balancer Sale and set the tone for a new year and the 2023 spring sale season.

Sincerely, Megan Slater, Executive Director American Gelbvieh Association

PICK OF CATTLEMEN’S CONGRESS BULLS - JUDD RANCH

2PICK OF PEN BULLS

• Here’s a tremendous opportunity to purchase your pick of Judd Ranch’s National Pen Show Bulls. Judd Ranch has been honored as the #1 Dam of Merit cowherd in the Gelbvieh breed for 21 of the past 25 years (1998-2022) and they have won a record 57 National Champion Pen Bull honors over the last 25 years including winning the Champion Pen of Five Gelbvieh bulls; Reserve Champion Pen of Three Gelbvieh bulls; Champion Pen of Three Balancer bulls; and Champion Pen of Five Balancer bulls at the 2022 National Gelbvieh and Balancer Show at Cattlemen’s Congress; while in 2021, winning Grand Champion Pen of Three and Grand Champion Pen of Five Gelbvieh Bulls, and Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Five Balancer Bulls. Within this tremendous offering will be herd sire prospects from the top of their bulls. With over 20 head it’s

impossible to catalog each individual bull, so check out these Pen Bulls in Oklahoma City where Judd Ranch will have a brochure with full details on the bulls included for this offering. If you can’t make it to Oklahoma City, this brochure will be attached to the National Sale catalog on the AGA website. Judd Ranch will be selling full possession and half semen interest on your pick of the bulls they offer. You might want to call Joe Moore of Carverdale Farms in Tennessee, as Joe will tell you one of the best investments he ever made in the Gelbvieh breed was the day he purchased a one-half semen interest with no possession on a yearling Judd Ranch bull named JRI Pld Free Agent 125J3… one of the breeds all-time leaders in semen sales. Selection must be made on sale day.

• It is not often the outcome of genetics that a breeder puts together results in a calf crop that reaches the goals of the program. We are excited that we have several individuals that combine the best of years of genetic selection. ProHart has selected three Gelbvieh herd sire prospects as our Pen of Three for the National Sale. These bulls are unique in their genetic makeup, but because of our emphasis

on breeding solid cattle across the board focusing on phenotype, performance, maternal attributes, fertility, and carcass traits these boys come together as a pen. Any one of these bulls will be able to complete the puzzle for a breeder’s cow herd. ProHart is offering a pick of our Pen of Three which includes full possession and half semen interest.

• Kryptonite has been a standout since the day he hit the ground at 72 lbs. to ratio 89. His accelerated growth became evident when he posted a 790 lb. weaning weight to ratio 106. 23K’s EPDs are balanced across the chart and rank at the top of the breed. Positioning this prospect to be a highly sought-after elite sire. Those of you who follow pedigrees will find his registration stellar. The top side combines Legacy, Leverage, and Sam. The Dam combines two of ProHart’s strongest maternal sires, BDCG DC 401 A4ET and Flying H Mr. 184U 316Y. 23K’s Dam, ProHart Rose 822F, is the epitome of femininity and maternal production. Kryptonite is a long-spined, soft-sided herd bull prospect that travels with fluidity and ease. 23K has already been hanging banners including Reserve Grand Champion Gelbvieh bull at the 2022 NILE in Billings. Homo-Black and Homo-Polled, he just gets better every day. Look him up, you’ll be glad you did.

• Ranks in the top 2% for Marb; top 3% for FPI; top 10% for CEM; top 15% for PG30, ST; top 20% for YW, HP; top 25% for BW, YW, Milk.

• ProHart has been breeding Gelbvieh cattle since 1986. We started out with a base of registered Angus cows and a few Purebred females from the Broken Fork Ranch and Powers Gelbvieh. We have continued to develop the cow herd in-house for over 35 years. We recently introduced Knight Star’s dam into the herd to add a new female bloodline and wow, did we get a winner. Knight Star is MCCA Hattie 018H’s first calf and McCarty’s breeding decision hit a home run. His sire, Lone Star D027, also sired MCCA Gunner 947G, one of the hottest red purebred Gelbvieh bulls on the market today. His Dam is a Judd Pendleton 253F4 daughter and a Cornhusker Red Grand Daughter. Stacking up quite the royal pedigree. When you study his performance, he had an unassisted 85 lb. birth weight and weaned with a 791 Adjusted 205 to ratio 107, all out of a first calf heifer. When it comes to EPDs, 232K ranks in the top of the breed: CED 35%, WW 10%, YW 10%, HP 30%, DOC 1%, MB 15%, FPI INDEX 10%. This Homo-Polled prospect is powerfully built with a huge top, level hip, and flawless structure. Help yourself! This could be a decision that puts your program at the top of the breed.

• Ranks in the top 1% for Doc; top 10% for WW; top 15% for YW, Marb; top 25% for HP, CW.

• Kinetic Energy is across the board GOOD. It is hard to find a fault with this guy. 220K is a moderate, stout made individual that is set on a flawless structure. He is so agile in his movement and loose in his joints, you can expect him to be sound for years to come. This calf started life out with a 82 lb. birth weight to ratio 100 and left his mama at 792 lbs with a 107 weaning ratio. Kinetic Energy is a Homo-Black and Homo-Polled son of Mr. Sam Adams 8472F with EPDs that make him an elite candidate for a progressive breeding program. They included 9 in the top 25 percent of the breed: CED 25%, WW 5%, YW 15%, MK 10%, TM 2%, CEM 4%, CW 1%, MB 20%, and FPI INDEX 4%. All we can say is WOW. His pedigree combines great programs like Rippe, Chimney Butte, Bar T Bar, Flying H, and Rupple. 220K’s dam is from the PHS Donna cow family, which has been one of our most consistent genetic lines. Producing sale toppers, show ring winners, and replacement females. Kinetic Energy combines many generations of ProHart concentrated selection for moderate, easy-fleshing cattle that produce calves with explosive growth and a carcass with exceptional marbling quality, all the while being sustainable in today’s world market. If you are looking for that competitive edge to dominate in the commercial bull market, ProHart Kinetic Energy 220K is the bull to get it done. • Ranks in the top 1% for CW; top 4% for CEM; top 5% for WW; top 15% for YW, Milk, Marb; top 25% for CED, Doc.

BY: CIRCLE S RANCH, CANTON, KS • PE’d from 5/1/2022 to 8/1/2022 to Over Hired 507H. Due approximately, mid-March. • It was a very hard decision for us when we decided to put this female in the National Sale! We went back and forth numerous times with her dam being an 8 almost 9-yearold, however her dam’s still going strong! This cow family is flat no miss, hands down the best uddered females on the place and always has a calf in the top pen! Her maternal brother is out working in a purebred operation and his calves are flat working! This female has DONOR cow written all over her, so long made, yet so attractive and powerful, and yet still so sound! We think the world of this female’s future in the donor pen and thought we would offer one of our great ones! She’s bred to a bull we bought from Overmiller Gelbvieh and Red Angus 5/1-8/1 OVER Hired 507H an outcross red purebred for an estimated March Calf! • Bred AI to GHGHF Cowtown D536. Due approximately September 2023 • Saterra is a Red Homo Polled Diluter free purebred. Here is a great female we could write a book on that has all of the pieces and the proven pedigree to get it done in the show ring and the donor pen. Saterra has had her share of show ring success over the last year with many division wins on the state and national level. Most recently she is coming off of a division win at the Royal this fall, and we have always thought she would continue to be more and more competitive as a bred this spring and summer. She is attractive and well balanced with a great maternal look yet she is stout made, big footed, has great bone and tons of center body dimension. Saterra like her dam, Emma, and full sibs is great in her joint angles and really flexible and athletic on the move. The Astro x Emma mating has been stellar producing multiple national level winners. Most notably is the Empire bull who is the reigning National Champion and Ring of Gold Champion who in 6 times out was Grand Champion 4 times and Reserve Champion twice having only ever been beaten by his 2 maternal brothers and stallmates Butch and Sundance. Saterra is also a full sister to Nikki who was a many time champion over the past 2 show seasons and doing a great job with her first calf. Candy who was reserve division at the Royal on her first trip out this fall. Her dam Emma was a many time champion including winning Jr Nationals, the Jr show at the National Western, and the American Royal. Besides the success the Astro x Emma, her 2 sons by Red Directive, Butch and Sundance, combined to win Jr National, Royal, Iowa State Fair and anchored a produce of dam and get of sire that was unbeaten for 2 show seasons. AI’ed for a September 2023 calf to the Cow Town bull from Green Hills who has produced last year’s National Champion female and Ring of Gold winner. Selling full possession and full embryo interest with seller retaining the right to one successful flush

• Wow, where to start on this young female! The first heifer to be offered out of the $27,500 high seller in the Circle S Production Sale a few years ago CIRS Halen 717H! His first calf crop has been everything and more we hoped for! Jess and I had a hard time deciding to let this one go but decided to offer one our best ones! This gal is loaded with Cow Power, out of a first calf heifer that goes back to Powerbuilt and Cocoa! This gal is so unique with the amount of power, true depth of rib, with a modern day look with an extremely clean front end tied all together in a 94% purebred package is incredible in my opinion! • The name “Bitter Sweet” came to mind when naming this elite female. Offering her up for grabs is quite “bittersweet” for me as she is one of the most complete females I have ever offered, and she represents our latest A.I. Sire, BARG High Stakes 21H. High Stakes has created a significant impact in both our replacement heifer pen as well as bulls being offered in our production sale. The females are all bold ribbed, broody females, that are super easy fleshing and sure to create a ripple effect on our herd and future production while the bull calves are showing great expression of growth, muscle definition, and soundness, and are beginning to resemble his exact build. 251K is also the first progeny of her dam, BARG 053H, a picture perfect first calf heifer expressing a great udder quality, easy fleshing ability, and great disposition. Let my bittersweet decision to offer this elite female be your shining opportunity to invest into your herd with the first ever female offered out of these premium genetics!

This beautifully designed, puppy dog gentle, April born heifer calf is the result of an outstanding ET mating from the Cedar Top Ranch program and T Bar S Giddy Up 102D. We are extremely proud to offer this big ribbed, sharp looking female to the public. She has the kind of balance, look and flexibility that we all strive to produce. She is also 35% or better for CEM, DOC, and YG. Perhaps the thing we are most excited about on this Homo Black and Homo Polled stunner is the mating flexibility.
