Dear Gelbvieh enthusiasts, This will be the 24th Judd Ranch Annual Cow Power Female Sale I have worked for the Judd family. And I don’t think you will find a harder working ranch family than the Judd’s. This includes Dave, Cindy, Nick, Ginger, Brent and Ashley and I can tell you, the grandkids are also a big, big help around the Ranch. Breeders, when looking for a seedstock supplier I think you want to keep some important things in mind. Foremost are integrity/honesty and Dave and his family exemplify these traits daily. Next is finding a source that has superior knowledge about the livestock industry and a basic approach to raising purebred cattle. When you combine Dave Judd’s combination of honesty and extensive livestock knowledge, they come together in a program that has always emphasized superior females or Cow Power. Last spring Judd Ranch’s Bull Sale featured 267 bulls with an 82 pound average birth weight/861 pound actual weaning weight average and that is why Judd Ranch has been honored as the #1 Dam of Merit program in the Gelbvieh breed for fifteen consecutive years (’98 thru ’12). Flash: Judd Ranch was recently honored as the 2014 #1 Dam of Merit program with an amazing 97 females honored as Dams of Merit and 23 were crowned Dam of Distinction females. Judd Ranch constantly strives to add more earning potential to the females you purchase from them, and one significant way to increase that potential is to have homozygous polled genetics available for you. Over the last few years Judd Ranch has been DNA testing for the homozygous polled factor. This sale offering features 109 homozygous polled females and Gelbvieh breeders, I don’t know of any convenience trait in the registered cattle business that will give you a better return on your investment than homozygous polled genetics. Our Cattlemen’s Connection AI semen sales feature over 100 Gelbvieh and Balancer A.I. sires and for us, over 90% of all sales are homozygous polled sires. Every homozygous polled bred female in the upcoming Cow Power sale is safe in calf to a homozygous polled Judd Ranch herdsire and you will be the beneficiary when you start selling these homozygous polled progeny. Now let’s key on the Cow Power selling as 99% of the sale offering features Judd Ranch Dam of Merit females and/or daughters of Dam of Merit cow families. Also please consider the fact that 93% of the sale offering is sired by breed-leading AI sires. Affordability is another reason to join us on October 11th, as the past fifteen “Cow Power” Female Sales have only averaged $2,149 on 1,623 head and folks, the last fifteen Judd Ranch bull sales have averaged $3,908 on 3,108 head. Do the math here and you’ll note the females have averaged just 54% of the average price for the bulls-their very offspring. If you have questions about any female in this catalog or would like assistance in selecting females for your program, please give me a call toll-free at 1-800 743-0026. If you are unable to attend the sale, I will be happy to purchase a female(s) for you within your price range, and we will guarantee your satisfaction with the animal(s) selected, with no fee for order buying. Annually, 25% of the Judd Ranch gross sales are purchased through this time and money saving program, and you pay only the bid price, just as if you were bidding yourself. You can reach me at 1-800-743-0026 until October 6, after that date, please call my cell phone 785/547 6262 during the day, as I will be at Judd Ranch. In the evenings, please call my cell phone (785)547-6262 or the sale motel headquarters, Comfort Inn, Ottawa, Kansas 785/242-9898. Roger Gatz Cattlemen’s Connection

The Judd Family Dear Gelbvieh friends, Our family invites you to our annual Cow Power Female Sale events on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11. We are pleased you are taking the time to look through our catalog. Our 24th annual Cow Power Female Sale is fast approaching and we are really looking forward to it. We appreciate our returning customers who choose to visit us every year. The whole Judd family would also like to extend a special invitation to any newcomers. Many of our repeat customers started by attending a sale or two before buying anything from us. We hope you can make it to the ranch on Friday to look over the sale offering, meet our family, have any of your questions answered and make some new Gelbvieh friends. Some things never change here at the ranch; we strive to produce Gelbvieh cattle with an emphasis on calving ease, fertility, growth and carcass. Next we expect our females to begin calving by two years of age and maintain a tight calving interval after that time. And yes, our females must maintain their body condition and keep a high quality udder. Thanks to our females we were named the #1 Breeder and Owner of Dam of Merit females for fifteen consecutive years (1998 thru 2012). Mercy, you talk about a Cow Power genetic package! JRI Ms Peppermint 270A762 ET’s incredible donor dam, JRI Ms Pd Blackstar 270K75 ET, is deceased so Peppermint will be one of your last opportunities to get in on this Judd Ranch powerhouse cow family. Donor dam 270K75’s natural born calves only averaged 84 pounds at birth with a whopping 733 pound average 205 day weight. Six 270K75’s natural born calves were sons and those calving ease/meat wagons averaged a scalebusting 1,271 pounds on yearling weight. Sounds like Dam of Merit production and as you probably already guess 270K75 has been honored five consecutive times a Dam of Merit female. These X Factor daughters are moderately framed attractive ladies with an abundance of natural fleshing ability. JRI Ms Triple X 406Z35 had the misfortune of losing a quarter so she only milks on three quarters. Mercy, you talk about a young calf raising machine. JRI Ms Expresso 270X20’s three babies to date have only averaged 79 pounds at birth with a scale smashing 731# average 205 day weight on the trio. Man oh man, you talk about one awesome first calf heifer and boys, she is raising one exceptional purebred Secret Instinct heifer calf. This Judd Ranch 285 cow family is mighty powerful and to date twenty-nine Judd Ranch 285 cow family daughters have been honored as Dam of Merit females. Raising exceptional babies also runs deep in this cow family as Hot Cake’s three brothers have averaged $4,983 in the annual Judd Ranch bull sales. Gather up these young first calf heifers like Hot Cake’s as they are just coming into their prime production. 2014 Fall EPDs:  CED 12; BW 0.4; WW 55; YW 81; MK 24; TM 51 and CEM -4.

Judd Ranch purchased a semen interest in this powerhouse homozygous polled purebred 2012 Canadian National Champion Gelbvieh Bull from Scott Severtson, Severtson Land & Cattle in Canada in the spring of 2013. SLC Outback 142X would be a total outcross to all genetic lines in the USA. Outback topped the Severtson Land & Cattle 2012 bull sale and note his tremendous performance levels...1,028# 205 day weight coupled with a 1,417# yearling weight. Outback’s dam features a flawless teat/udder system with a boatload of milk so her genetic makeup definitely fits into Judd Ranch’s honored Dam of Merit program. Semen sales are closed on SLC Outback 142X so here’s your opportunity to purchase some of his first daughters and services sell.

Top Recruit’s first calf crop born in the spring of 2010 was flat awesome. That first calf crop produced eight sons in which two were members of Judd Ranch’s 2011 National Champion Pen of 3 and Pen of 5 Bulls. Judd Ranch kept the pick of the eight as a herdsire and to date 45 Top Recruit sons have averaged $5006 in the annual Judd Ranch bull sale. The Top Recruit daughters are calf raising machines and to date 10 sons out of Top Recruit daughters have averaged $7,025. The Cow Power runs mighty deep in Top Recruit’s pedigree as his grandam, great grandam and great, great grandam were all honored numerous times as Dams of Merit and Dams of Distinction.
