Dear Gelbvieh Breeders, It has been my pleasure to help with the previous twenty-one Judd Ranch Annual Cow Power Female Sales and from working closely with the Judd Ranch family; I can say you won't find a harder working family than Dave, Cindy, Nick, Ginger, Brent and Ashley Judd. Every year I like to emphasize what I believe are two of the most important reasons for buying Judd Ranch females. First, after 25 years working purebred sales, I have had the opportunity to work with a number of programs and the honesty and integrity demonstrated by Dave and his family is unmatched. The second reason is Dave Judd's knowledge of all facets of the livestock industry and his down to earth approach to raising purebred cattle. He firmly believes “Cow Power” makes a great program. Believe me folks, the beef industry is all about Cow Power and nobody features true “Cow Power” like Judd Ranch. Last spring Judd Ranch's Bull Sale featured 226 bulls with an 820 pound actual weaning weight average and that is why Judd Ranch has been honored as the #1 Dam of Merit program in the Gelbvieh breed for fifteen consecutive years. Judd Ranch is always striving to add more earning potential to the females you purchase from them, and one significant way you can increase your earning potential is by purchasing homozygous polled genetics. Over the last few years Judd Ranch has been DNA testing for the homozygous polled factor. This sale offering features72 homozygous polled females and Gelbvieh breeders, I don't know of any convenience trait in the registered cattle business that will give you a better return on your investment than homozygous polled genetics. Our Cattlemen's Connection AI semen sales feature over 100 Gelbvieh and Balancer A.I. sires and for us, over 90% of all sales are homozygous polled sires. Every homozygous polled mature bred female is safe in calf to a homozygous polled Judd Ranch herdsire and you will be the beneficiary when you start selling these homozygous polled progeny. Now let's key on Cow Power selling as 100% of the sale offering features Judd Ranch Dam of Merit females and/or daughters of Dam of Merit cow families. Also please consider the fact that 99% of the sale offering is sired by breed-leading AI sires and 100% are Judd Ranch bred and raised. Affordability is another reason to join us on October 13th, as the past thirteen “Cow Power” Female Sales have only averaged $2,010 on 1,401 head and folks, the last thirteen Judd Ranch bull sales have averaged $3,534 on 2,614 head. Do the math here and you'll note the females have averaged just 57% of the average price for the bulls-their very offspring. If you have questions about any female in this catalog or would like assistance in selecting females for your program, please give me a call toll-free at 1800-743-0026. If you are unable to attend the sale, I will be happy to purchase a female(s) for you within your price range, and we will guarantee your satisfaction with the animal(s) selected, with no fee for order buying. Annually, 25% of the gross sales are purchased through this time and money saving program, and you pay only the bid price, just as if you were bidding yourself. You can reach me at 1-800-743-0026 until October 9, after that date please call my cell phone 785/547-6262 during the day, as I will be at Judd Ranch. In the evenings, please call my cell phone (785)547-6262 or the sale motel headquarters, Comfort Inn, Ottawa, Kansas 785/242-9898. Sincerely,

The Judd Family Dear Gelbvieh friends, Cindy and I and our family invite you to the ranch on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 for our annual Judd Ranch Cow Power Female Sale. This will be our 22nd Annual Cow Power Female Sale and we are as excited about it as we were our first sale. We feel humbled that many of our repeat customers tell us they look forward to our fall female sale and treat it as a yearly vacation. We would also like to extend a special welcome to anyone who has not been to Judd Ranch before. It is very common for customers to attend a sale or two before buying anything from us. If possible we hope you can make it on Friday, October 12th to analyze the sale offering, have your questions answered and make some new Gelbvieh friends. Some things never change here at the ranch; one thing is our goal of producing Gelbvieh cattle in the complete package of calving ease, fertility, growth and carcass. We have stringent requirements our females must meet, a female must maintain a tight calving interval beginning at two years of age, wean off an above average calf, maintain her body condition and keep a high quality udder. We were truly honored to be recently named the #1 Breeder and Owner of Dam of Merit females for fifteen consecutive years, and we owe it all to our “Cow Power females. Our judging contests have been popular in the past, so we have made plans to again offer both adult and junior judging contests. We will have three divisions: adults (over 21 years), senior (13-21 years) junior (for the 12 and under set). The events we have planned include: Thursday, October 11

What a beautiful homozygous polled purebred Pop A Top daughter to lead off this year’s Judd Ranch Cow Power Female Sale. JRI Ms Butterscotch 27Y6 nursed an 8-year-old Free Agent daughter who has already been honored twice as a Judd Ranch Dam of Merit female and wow, she has been a producer. Dam of Merit mama’s first baby sold in the ‘07 bull sale for $7,000 and that’s the super stud photographed above. I might add, that super stud featured a 76# BW, whopping 792# 205 day weight with a scalebusting 1,480 # yearling weight...pretty impressive stats for a first calf heifer. 2012 Fall EPDs: CE 113; BW -2.1; WW 26; YW 57; M 13; TM 26; GL -1.6 and CED 102.
Take one glance at JRI Ms Alley Cat 285Y4's super dam, photographed above in her working clothes, and you'll soon note where all of Alley Cat's beauty stems from. Alley Cat's full brother 285X4 was an alternate Judd Ranch Denver Pen Bull and that meatwagon sold as Lot 172 in the 2011 bull sale for $5,000. Fertility runs deep in this cow family as Alley Cat's grandam was honored five consecutive years as a Dam of Merit female and Alley Cat's dam sports a profitable 366 day annual calving interval. Alley Cat should make one super producer for your program with her rich cow family heritage. 2012 Fall EPDs: CE 111; BW -0.7; WW 33; YW 65; M 14; TM 31; GL -0.6 and CED 103.
Pasture exposed to JRI Secret Instinct 254U83 (1106390). Examined safe in calf to the black, homozygous polled purebred herdsire Secret Instinct for an estimated late Feb./early March baby. Secret Instinct was Judd Ranch’s pick of the fall ‘08 calf crop and the calving ease/beef machine is producing phenomenal progeny. The Judd Ranch fall 2011 bulls were recently weighed off gain test and producers, Secret Instinct will have a boatload of top selling sons next spring’s bull sale. Guaranteed homozygous polled purebred baby!
Pasture exposed to JRI Top Secret 1 ETN (1221770). Examined safe in calf to the homozygous polled purebred herdsire Top Secret 1 ETN for an estimated late Feb. baby. Top Secret 1 ETN is a Top Secret clone and it was a no brainer for Judd Ranch to clone Top Secret as 353 Top Secret sons have averaged $4,570 in the annual Judd Ranch Bull Sales and that equates to $1,613,191 of revenue. If Alley Cat has a heifer calf it shouldn't be a problem as the Top Secret daughters were key matrons in producing Judd Ranch's record setting $5,400 bull sale average this spring. Guaranteed homozygous polled purebred baby!

These are unbelievable stats for any first calf heifer to produce. Unbelievable birth to growth spreads are a common occurrence for this Judd Ranch 68 cow family. I might add Goldilock's dam is one of Judd Ranch's top donor female and Goldilock's grandam and great grandam were both honored numerous times as Dam of Merit females. 2012 Fall EPDs: CE 108; BW 1.2; WW 33; YW 67; M 15; TM 32; GL -0.9 and CED 100. Several of these fall bred females were still out in the big pastures at Judd Ranch so we didn't get an opportunity to pull hair for homozygous polled DNA testing. To date 85% of the animals DNA tested for the homozygous polled factor have proven homozygous polled at Judd Ranch. That success rate of 85% doesn't come as a surprise as almost every female on the ranch features at least two generations of homozygous polled sires in the pedigree. And genetically any animal featuring two homozygous polled sires in the pedigree has a 75% or greater opportunity of being homozygous. So with that said basically every female in this sale offering that's not identified as homozygous polled by DNA has a 75% or greater opportunity of being homozygous polled. 2012 Fall EPDs: CE 107; BW 1.9; WW 36; YW 66; M 16; TM 34; GL .0 and CED 103.

It's all about Cow Power and producers, wait until you see the powerhouse bull calf 03Z32 this homozygous polled first calf heifer is raising. JRI Ms Journey 03X21 will have her powerhouse Secret Instinct bull calf 03Z32 at her side on sale day for display only and the powerhouse pounded the 205 day weight scales at 683 pounds. For sure 683 pound 205 day weights off first calf heifers is flat turning a crank especially when you pencil in these spring born calves receive no creep prior to taking 205 day weight…not to mention they were raised during the worst drought in modern history of the ranch. This 03 cow family flat knows how to bring home the beef and I might add longevity is all part of the complete package as 03X21's twelve-year-old grandam 03K is still cranking out babies. 2012 Fall EPDs: CE 120; BW -6.4; WW 16; YW 41; M 15; TM 23; GL -1.6 and CED 107.

This is the first AI calf crop sired by HXC Conquest 4405P at Judd Ranch and wowsa, the Conquest calves are flat impressive. Ms Judd Conquest 25Z31 nursed a first calf heifer and note her awesome low birth to super growth spread. Sixty-seven pound birth weights are not uncommon for Red Angus babies but 690 pound 205 day weights are flat turning a crank for first calf heifers to produce. This Judd Ranch 25 Red Angus cow family flat knows how to spread birth to growth. Ms Judd Conquest 25Z31’s grandam Monu 4X 25S1 is a prime example in the birth to growth spread category. Judd 25S1's first baby pounded the 205 day weight scales at 720 pounds and sold for $5,500 in the '09 bull sale. Grandam 25S1 does it every year as her second baby pegged the 205 day weight scales at 731 pounds and flat hammered the yearling weight scales at 1,364 pounds and man oh man, you talk about a beef machine bull calf. This year's sale offering only features four purebred 1A Red Angus heifer calves and you'll note all four are sired by breed leading Red Angus AI sires. Ms Judd Copper Rob 225Z started pretty small at 49 pounds as she was twin born to a heifer calf and being twin born she had to learn to share from day one.
