The Larson’s 12866 Lindberg Lake Road Clearbrook, MN 56634 Welcome to our 5th annual production sale. Again this year, we are happy to welcome Richard and Debbie Pletschett with RCP Livestock and Arlan Dahlke and Family with Dahlke Red Angus, both consigning a terrific set of bred heifers. These heifers fit very nicely with our program and we are confident you will be pleased with the added offering. We have made a subtle change to our bull development program. We invested in a TMR mixer this year and it has been a great decision. Our ration is high roughage, consisting of corn silage and hay, and a grain mix. Perhaps more important, our bulls were fed on a 60 acre pasture most of the winter and are much harder than years past. We are excited to see how the bulls look sale day and know they will be better breeders because of the exercise. A quick note about scrotal circumference, we will have all the bulls semen checked and scrotal measured about 2 weeks prior to the sale this year and all data will be available sale day We have made change in auctioneer. We have asked Jay Elfeldt from Sutherland, NE to call our sale. Jay knows Gelbvieh cattle and will be an asset to our buyers. Our auction format will remain a video auction with no live lots in the auction barn, however all will be penned outside for review. All sale videos will be available on our website, www.lostriverlivestockmn.com 3 weeks prior to sale day. Again this year, we will broadcast our sale on the internet using DVAuction. Please register with DVAuction if you intend to view the sale on the internet. If you have any questions, please call one of us or stop by the farm and take a look. Thanks, The Larson’s

Jolt B31 ET has a pedigree that is as tried and true as any around here. His donor dam, Sarah 120N has had at least one bull on our sale since 2012. And this may be her best calf to date. Jolt is a very complete individual; he has a clean front end, a soggy middle and a very deep rear quarter. He should definitely provide a “Jolt” to your cowherd.

What can I say about this guy’s mama? She is a bull producing machine, even at age 13! Next Step A200 is his dam’s 12th natural calf and she is currently raising her 13th this year. That’s some serious maternal ability. A200’s maternal brother sold last year to Ed Jensen of Blackduck.

Dylan Larson, order buying a nice set of steers in Bagley!

What is a Balancer® Balancer® cattle are registered hybrid seedstock and have documented pedigrees and EPDs. Balancer animals are 25 to 75 percent Gelbvieh with the balance Angus or Red Angus. Balancer cattle combine the Gelbvieh growth, muscle, leanness and fertility with the maternal and marbling of Angus. Producers can chose the percentage of each breed to best suit their marketing target for their calves.

The Profitable Blend of Gelbvieh and Angus Genetics Balancer hybrids offer a simple and powerful way to maintain hybrid vigor and the proper blend of British and Continental genetics in your cow herd with complicated crossbreeding systems. Registered Balancer hybrids combine the Angus advantages of calving ease, moderate mature size, marbling and convenience traits with Gelbvieh growth, muscle leanness, fertility and unequaled pounds of calf per cow exposed in a single animal. And, documented research proves that Balancer hybrids offer the same consistency as their purebred parents with improved uniformity of composition. Plus, Balancer bulls and females are registered seedstock, complete with documented percentage and EPDs.

We here at Lost River Livestock are really excited to be starting to sell open heifers on our annual sale and what a tremendous pair of heifers to start with! First in lot 46A, we have a SUPER flashy and functional female that traces back to the great N605 cow. Not only will Nellie B99 be highly competitive in the showring, she will turn into one fantastic cow. So if you’re a junior looking for next year’s 4-H project or you’re looking for a female that will become a centerpiece

These heifers all have the potential to be serious contenders in the showring and even better mama cows. And Blackstar B105 is definitely that kind of female. She is long bodied, square hipped and has great feet and legs. She also comes from the great line of LRL developed Blackstar females, the same cow family that produced lots 8, 12, 16, 18, 21, 33, and 52 in this sale. That’s some major production from one cow family and Blackstar B105 will be another great producer for her new owner.

Rose B27 is the only purebred Red Angus open heifer we offering on this year’s sale but don’t overlook her. Just by studying her picture, you can see that she is tremendously deep bodied and has terrific flash and style. She is a daughter of the great Brown JYJ Redemption, the same sire as lots 42 and 43 in this sale. Also, check out the strength of B27’s EPD’s. Her CED, BW, YW, and STAY all rank in the top 25% of the breed!

Here is another great young female tracing back to one of our top donors, Snazzy 114L. Snazzy B79 is very well-made, thick topped female out of a terrific young Prime Cut daughter. B79’s mother is the exact type and kind of cow we are looking for here at LRL. She is moderate framed, deep ribbed and has a fantastic udder. I see B79 developing into a cow that is very similar to her mother. And if she does, B79 will become a top producer for her new owner for years to come.
