Welcome...

Welcome to the 2014 Prairie Gelbvieh Alliance sale on behalf of the sale partners and consignors. We, as partners, have taken turns writing this welcome over the years. It has been several years since I did the job. Wow, has the world changed since I wrote it last time! Clearly the cattle industry is seeing times that we have not seen before. Obviously this is well-deserved and long overdue but still exciting to see none the less. Please scrutinize the offering that we have for you in 2014 with confidence. Definitely the best group of females we have assembled as an overall group to date. We are the longest running Gelbvieh female sale in Canada. Please join us on December 13 to find out why

Pick of the 2015 Born Heifer Calves

We are offering your pick of all the AI or Natural service sired heifer calves that will be born in 2015.This is a very unique opportunity to choose from the heart of our program that has never been offered before. Over the past twelve years we have extensively used AI, ET and top end natural service bulls and elite females to build a cow herd. We strive to raise a functional easy keeping cow herd. Some of the sires used in this up coming calf crop are Top Recruit, Xterminator, Beas 2806Z, Rockstar, Subban and SLC 512T to name a few. Then mated to females like the ones pictured, these matings will yield tremendous results for you to choose from. Also as an added carrot to this offering, we will offer pick of two straws of semen on any bull in our semen tanks, to accompany this female for future breeding. Pick is to be made by September 1, 2015

I should of named her “Big Potential”, cause I WW YW see her maturing into a 1400+ lb cow that will produce great bull calves. This heifer is out of an easy calving sire and a first calf heifer that didn’t have any problems calving a 90 lb birth weight calf (8.09% of dam at weaning). This docile female received no pampering till 5 weeks before pictures, she is at that growth spurt but still has that eye appeal and balance that makes her a good one that must be seen at the sale.

BW 83 DSL 39B is a moderate correct calf. Her sire 17Y continues to impress WW 608 YW with his second calf crop. We looking forward to his daughters coming into production this spring. A paternal sister sold to Joe Ness in last years PGA sale. Her dam produced our top bull calf as a first calf heifer. 39B will be halter broke and would make an excellent junior or 4-H project. Don’t overlook this march calf come sale day .

PGA Heifer Lottery The partners started a heifer lottery in 2010. Individuals that have made purchases in the previous three fall sales will be entered into a lottery.
