We hope that you are a ll we ll and that Spring brings you a Great Calf Crop!.

2015 was quite a year s tarting out dry and looking like we were back in the drought pattern, the n ca me April a nd May and m ore rain and snow tha n we normally g et in a year, green g rass followed a nd the ca ttle had a good summe r grazing seas on. This winte r has be en one of those that kind of makes us all work for eve rything tha t we ge t, but the bulls have done well and are looking really good.

We summe r the ca ttle on dry native g rass a nd winter and calve out on corns talks and afterfeed. O ur cattle are not babie d a nd we e xpe ct them to work for us, bring a good ca lf home in the fall and ca lve in a 60 pe riod sta rting a round Feb. 1st. T hey don’t do the ir pa rt and they are gone. We have developed our he rd of m other cows to thrive a nd s urvive in this harsh western environment that we all know.

T he bulls a re deve loped on a ration of g round hay, s ilage , wet distillers g rain a nd a s mall am ount of flake d corn, we targe t a ga in of 3 lbs. per day and feel this makes for a sound solid set of bulls tha t will go out and cove r a lot of toug h country.

This year’s offering is packed with performance, maternal and calving ease and we feel there are bulls to fit anyone’s program and also help improve what we call cowability around here. Our definition of cowability is trouble free females that calve on time, breed back and bring home a good calf each and every season. Udder quality in our herd is second to none, as we don’t have the time or patience to suckle calves. To be a SEGA cow she must calve on her own, nurse that calf on her own or she is down the road. Life is far too short to put up with problem cattle and we feel that our culling strategy has sure made our herd trouble free.

We have worked ha rd to increase the carcas s quality in our cattle without giving up fe rtility and keeping ability. Once again this year, you will find ultrasound informa tion and als o PAP s cores on all all of the bulls. We fee l this is good informa tion to help you in making your bull buying de cisions , you won’t find any e xtreme E PD ca ttle he re as we truly believe in a m iddle of the road com mon sens e approach to cattle breeding.

SEGA GELBVIEH AND BALANCER Production Sale

March 5th, 2016

Viewing starts at 10:30 a.m.

Lunch at High Noon The cattle will have a base price. If more than one party is interested in a lot, there will be a bid off at 1:00 p.m. A complete supplement sheet will be available on Sale Day. We hope this makes a relaxed enjoyable buying experience for you – our valued customers.

• Health: The cattle have had all their vaccinations and will be semen tested and available for interstate shipment within the U.S. • Terms: Cash or cashable check on sale day unless other arrangements have been made with us.

• Delivery: We will deliver your purchases at no cost to you within 250 miles. If you haul your bulls on sale day, you can take $25 per bull off.

We will keep the bulls until April 1st, at no charge.

We will deliver the bulls to you at an agreed upon time. The bulls will be cared for as if they were ours, but we cannot guarantee against sickness, injury, or death.

• Transfers: Cattle with registration papers will be transferred to the new owner.

• Guarantee: All bulls in the sale are guaranteed to be breeders if not allowed to run with the herd until at least 14 months of age, and if not subjected to gross negligence by the purchaser.

• Liability: You attend the sale at your own risk and we will not be responsible for any accidents or injuries that might occur.

Directions to the Farm: - From Ault, Colorado: 2 miles north on Highway 85, then 1/8 mile west on County Road 86. From Pierce, Colorado: 2 miles south on Highway 85 then 1/8 mile west on County Road 86.

Care of your yearling bulls: We would encourage you to take a little extra special care of your investment(s). Yearling bulls are still growing and we all expect a lot out of them. Limit the breeding season and number of cows that they will have to service. Do not turn young bulls out in the same pasture with mature bulls. A yearling in good condition can be expected to service 15-25 cows in his first season, but he will need to be brought in early and given a little extra care after all that work. Yearlings will start losing their teeth at 15 to 18 months of age and need a little TLC if you expect them to grow and develop to their full potential. A little extra care up front will make your purchases last a lot longer and also make for healthier, better bulls down the trail!

When you first turn your bulls out, watch them and make sure that they are getting the job at hand done.

Also, if they start getting a little run down rest them or give them a little extra energy, it will pay dividends in the long run!
