“We are a one-stop shop when it comes to event planning; we will do your traditional and online marketing, design your website, produce promotional items, staffing, vendor arrangements, accounts and event sales, promotions for annual campaigns, and more.”

HOW DID WE COME UP WITH THE NAME? Jeanene We are two women-owned business entities in a Joint Venture. Two talent sets coming together and two smart persons with experience in emotional intelligence, and together – Two Top Talents actually is the most logical title. Ebru loved it and we agreed that we are just this – Two Top Talents.

mercial mindset. From our location, in the Shreveport-Bossier area, we reach out to people in the Four States Area and give to that regional resident-client a comfort zone. From weddings with two weeks out, to business events nine months out – no matter what the location, Ebru is an artisan at reach. The web is key to our successes. We got a one year lead on an opportunity in Cyprus for the coming year or maybe two. Amazing.

WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL MARKETING? DEFINE. Jeanene Global marketing is a web-based outreach, dynamic and real-time marketing to the world. Ebru is from Europe and I am from the Americas. Together we master seven languages. I speak two of those and the others are her skills set. The coming together of two women of diversity is the key; know your MARKET and one cannot give what one does not have... We know to reach out to the client with ease and grace of business acumen, and respecting cultures and customs. We deal (locally) with a concise and com-

Ebru –

I'm lucky to meet a smart, intelligent and beautiful lady, who is extremely creative and talented when it comes to arts and crafts. I'm also honored to call her my business partner; she designs and handicrafts most of the decorations and centerpieces. Each piece is unique to the particular event and won't be re-used again. She performs her magic by creating some of the most beautiful and unique pieces I've ever seen. We both believe in class, elegance, uniqueness and style in, around and at all of our events. She is more of a black and white and pastel colors and French colonial

style, while I'm more of a glitter, silver and gold type of person. However, this does not mean we won't plan goth weddings; on the contrary, it simply means it will be the best goth wedding ever! We are a one-stop shop when it comes to event planning; we will do your traditional and online marketing, design your website, produce promotional items, staffing, vendor arrangements, accounts and event sales, promotions for annual campaigns, and more. Jeanene Having a career in my own realm, I work many hours as an expert in my field of contracts, grants and research. Two Top Talents is the most wonderful way to create and benefit through our talent of organization and coordination - I get to be creative! I love it. I have met so many people, and Ebru has met more, so when we start a project, we just brainstorm and know from experience who will bring the A-game to the court. We are the best combination of creative and strategy, so coming together in this joint venture has been an extreme delight. There are no negatives. Ebru and I work so well together. From event planning and venue and vendor coordination, with music and concert coordination and media exposures, to writing compositions, and professional services…I even share recipes from my travels on our social pages. I have worked all over the US. I have worked and travelled in Mexico. From coast to coast and the Gulf to Canada - Two Top Talents knows that Grits and Shrimp will not be the faire in Nebraska – Two Top Talents best talent is knowing the client! Ebru has been all over the world, so let me say that she trumps me on kosher and customs – I make up that deficit with the creative designs and art.

DESCRIBE PROVEN TECHNIQUES AND POWERFUL MARKETING AND SALES…. Jeanene We master the web and are perfectionists in every aspect. Unique approaches to toll free and internet, news media and social media are the pushes. The pulls are: We are recruited and recommended by clients. And we have something no one else offers – The Favorite Five. Ask us about this offer. A firm in North Carolina called and talked with me to ask how this concept was known. The answer is...I created it based upon Ebru describing a scenario of how to sell global in a certain short time frame. I design, paint, construct, and make many of the designs used in floral and art displays. A lady in my professional realm is a genius at certain signage and she and her daughter are our vendors on event by event basis. I am the business and hands-on in accounting, compliance, laws, taxes, and business processes, also. Ebru is the genius at web-design, organizing client experiences, planning and procurement of graphics. She is the person handling all of our websites. Her skills in social media have made us known. She is a clean-sweep in the arena of customer capture and interactions on a public basis. OFFERING DIFFERENT COURSES ???? Jeanene Oh Deb, so glad you asked this question in the catering aspect. We have relationships with people in the area to support the local economy - buying local takes front page on all of our plans. This is important – buying fresh here in the Great State of Louisiana and using some of the menus of Louisiana are success points in catering in Shreveport and Bossier. The recipes are ‘teasingly’ shared on our Face-

book – I am sparing on those. We have a secret for you – a wonderful chef called us from Florida. He grew up in DeSoto Parish. He will be handling all the special things. He makes a Beef Tips and Rice entrée that is truly fabulous. He is a dessert chef and has his own business... reached out to us 'specifically', as we are nuevo-forward movers in diversity. He appreciated the world-view beaming brightly from his 'neck of the woods'. We are just about to plan a Spring wedding and one of my suggestions is Confections and Cordials with Champagne, only. Come on people – it is a great thing to have a large spread and lots of attendees, but some couples just can't afford a mega-catered event. This motif and faire is nothing but classy and served in 1920's motif or French white with chalk and white linens – it is beautiful and affordable. Some events call for uniqueness in serving and set-up, this is where we suggest – say... Mimosa Punch and Tarts with fruit and flavored coffees with whipped real cream. Confections and Cordials or Benginets or Bagels, we work on YOUR budget. In one of our motif names called Peachy Keen – all soft peach colors, accents in tiny lace and wood, burlap stained and wrapped candles...we have that motif posted. It is a number-one pick. In some cases, not in all - we try to keep our numbers under 200 – although – in a conference and events venue, we get the juices flowing and can manage 500 or more. Ebru will shop the locations, plan for contingency and the we layout the plan. Ebru and I will color coordinate all foods and offset hot with cold – an example of Opposites Attract, that is the name of the Venue: Hot homemade rolls with spiced butter, Fudge Cake with Ice Cream, and Blow-overs (ask us). Breads and butters are the southern region favorites; our specialty is a drink combination likely named Cabo-True (Jeanene created in

1981) and Royale Palais – ask about these specialties…you can only get this from us. EBRU, I WANT YOU TO TELL ME WHY TWO TOP TALENTS IS ABLE TO BREAK THE GLASS CEILING AND PUSH THE WALLS DOWN IN GLOBAL MARKETS. WHAT IS YOUR INTERNATIONAL TAKE ON WHY TWO TOP TALENTS IS A RISING STAR?

Ebru – Two extremely talented, culturally diverse, well-educated and uniquely qualified ladies are the co-founders of Two Top Talents.

We are event planners who go far beyond the cookie-cutter events that most people have become accustomed. We live in a culturally diverse society; from the foods we eat, to the music we listen to, and the ways we decorate our homes and offices, or even to the clothes we wear. At Two Top Talents, we pay special attention to details...those special insights influenced by different cultures from around the world. We place a high value on cultural diversity, understanding and respecting the beliefs held by others! We believe that there are very few, if any other event planners, capable of performing the level of service and professionalism that we offer. v

Q&A with Owner and Trainer Lee Hudson

ABOUT THE COVER Anytime Fitness wins Fitness Achievement Award, Congrats to owner Lee Hudson (2 Locations on Airline Drive, and Benton, LA)

By Debbie Dillard

In today's society, it is utmost important we discover the power of God's love for the United States of America. We are a divided nation financially, racially, and denominationally. There is only one true church and that is Unity, and oneness with God. He is a Sovereign God whom carefully fashioned mankind in His very own image. He loves us unconditionally and created you in love and we are his royal ambassadors in his kingdom of heaven. This verse below represents God's power. 18 This is the message that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:2 “Jeremiah, go down to the potter’s house. I will give you my message there.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house and saw him working with clay at the wheel. 4 He was making a pot from clay. But there was something wrong with the pot. So the potter used that clay to make another pot. With his hands he shaped the pot the way he wanted it to be. In our study of the Potter, the clay and the vessel, we need to note the potter's wheel as it relates to the plan of God for the human race. Let's begin with a reminder of the Potter's wheel. The potter controls the potter's wheel. This is simply a reminder of COL 1:16-17, For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created by Him and for Him. Now, what does the word clay mean in the Webster dictionary? It is defined as a fine-grained soil, or water-soaked earth, colorless, and worthless. But, when the clay is in God's hands, he makes the clay as he wishes, and shapes it to his beauty and perfect vessel. In this case, God is the potter, and we are the clay. The wheel represents the turn

and twist of life directed by the potter, (God). He breathes air into mankind as we are an expression of his love. Make no mistake that a miracle is made by the masters hands and there is a hand print of God in every single soul on this earth! Even his son, Jesus was made from clay! This verse is meant to teach us lessons, that failure is not an option. America is facing disasters, and only God Almighty can change our future. In this verse, the pot represents resistance to the word of God. It is no secret that there is bitterness, anger, and sorrow in many people, but God's love can change hearts of each person, if only they received his offering of his Godly love. It is time to do our part as Americans and fulfill our purpose in life, and that is to love one another in Godly love, versus worldly love. 1 John:4 Jesus teaches us God's love. 7Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them

and they in God. 16And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. Now, In contrast, our love is usually conditional and based upon how other people behave toward us. For instance, most of our lives has been shaped by the way people loved us. A spouse promises you his/her love, affection, loyalty, all the days of your life, but the promise was broken, a parent abandoned you early in childhood, or a friendship was broken by selfishness. Most often, love is confused with infatuation - that elated, "high" feeling we get when we "fall in love." This kind of "love" is something that lasts typically less than a year, and unless replaced by true love, results in broken relationships. This kind of love is based upon familiarity and direct interaction.

broken, the scholars, as he has the whole world in his hands! The power of God's love ignites in Jesus Christ. No one takes his life from him but he laid it down for us! His Authority was to serve others, not to enslave them. He actually washed his disciples feet in leading by example on how to treat others. But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these. (2TI 3:1-5.

Christ is the perfect example of charity. In His mortal ministry, He showed tender compassion for the poor, afflicted, and distressed. To develop Christ like love, we must seek it, pray for it, and follow the examples in our thoughts, words and actions to others. We must love our enemies whether they deserve it or not because he who loves one another full fills God's law! God's love has no limits! 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. God is re-creating us, but he does not force this change upon us — he tells us to do it: to put on, or to clothe ourselves, in something new. We are to make choices in the light of who we are. We are to become more and more like Christ is, because that is who we are. “No system of ‘dos and don’ts’ can create the image of God in humans…. The new life of obedience does not depend on [our] own feeble moral resolve but comes from being united with Christ” He can change your life, He can change our nation , but first we need to change our power! He takes our sins and forgives them, and it is time to receive his holiness and righteousness from him. The chief virtue, the umbrella term that includes all good behavior, is love — which is also the one-word description of God’s nature. “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity” (3:14). v

Expects returns from God Go to every length possible to help others May be disappointed but never discouraged Sound familiar? We are watching a phenomenon of a nation which has forgotten God. Corruption is spreading in the land, the government increasingly unable to govern properly. The American life being shaken by frequent panics and torn with with dissension--all this is exactly in line with the prediction of the Scriptures. Colossians 3:15-17King James Version (KJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

All The Way Health Center Q&A with Dr. Kim Woods 1. What techniques do you practice? Our primary goal at All the Way is to get your spine in a more stable position so we use manual adjusting and different instruments to assist with that. 2. What do your patients expect when getting their first adjustment? On a patient’s first visit they can expect to fill out paperwork, have an exam, consultation, and myovision scan. We take X-rays in our office if necessary. We like to have time to create a care plan and review x-rays before adjusting but will adjust a patient in acute pain on the first visit. 3. Do you employ a deeper joint popping adjustment or a low-force adjustment? We adjust patients based upon their needs. Some people’s bodies respond better to manual adjusting and some to instrument adjusting and some a combination. 4. How long do you recommend for a treatment plan to become effective? That completely depends on the person and what is going on with them. I will say that we like to be see people more at the beginning of a care plan in order to get the most effective results. 5. Do you take x-rays when necessary? We absolutely take X-rays when necessary. 6. What kind of payment plans are available? We work with a couple of different finance companies and do in-house financing if necessary. 7. Are consultations Free? As a result, he excelled in athletics and experienced unparalleled health. For over 100 years, his company has spread the gospel of health by providing natural products and a library of information. LEE HUDSON

Margaret Wolf Weight Loss: 30lbs When I first met Lee I was a member of the gym where he worked. I only came in occasionally and the only exercise I got regularly was walking the dog. I was entering my mid-forties and finding it harder and harder to keep my weight down. In fact, I was getting bigger and bigger every year. I had tried everything. I would lose a little and it would come right back. I talked to my husband, Ed about it and how depressed I was getting and so the following Christmas he gave me the best present I've ever gotten! He gave me a gift certificate for a personal trainer. I started working with Lee in January of 2005 and he was just the motivation I needed. I had never even thought of working with weights before but once I started I was hooked. I began using Weight Watchers on line, weight training with Lee three days a week, and doing an hour of cardio five or six days a week. The weight started falling off and I felt better than I had in my twenties! I lost thirty pounds and went from thirty-four percent body fat to about thirteen percent at present. For me, the key was my motivation and accountability. I was accountable to Lee every

Owner/Personal Trainer

week for what I ate and what I weighed! It has not been easy, but I have kept my weight off ever since. Ed and I moved over with him to Anytime Fitness where I still train with him once a week and he still motivates me! Being fit and strong feels amazing. I hope I can be an encouragement to others that think they "can't do it". I kid with him that he's the "gift that keeps on giving"!

Angela Ray Anytime Fitness has completely changed my whole life for the better! Weight Loss: 60lbs I (Angela Ray) started my fitness journey at a starting weight of 195. I started working out on my own at first then I met Lee Hudson and he became my personal trainer at Anytime Fitness in Benton, Louisiana and he became my mentor. He has been a wonderful influence in my life and now a year and a half later I am down 60lbs and even got certified and became a personal trainer, working for Lee at the very gym that changed my life. I want to inspire everyone to see their full potential. I have had three C-sections and I never thought I would be comfortable with my body ever again, but now I proudly show off how fit I have become. Anytime Fitness is so convenient, I

have a five year old, a 15 yr old and my disabled father to take care of at home, so it was really hard to find time to work out, but with the 24 hour access it made it possible for me. If I could make it to where I am now, then so can each and every person that doesn't feel comfortable in their body. Anytime Fitness is there to help you make that change. I strongly recommend hiring a personal trainer to help you because there are so many things they can teach you that make your goals more attainable and doing things the right way makes a difference in keeping the weight off. I will continue to help as many others as I can…I want someone to look at me and say “because of her I didn’t give up!!”

PREPARE YOURSELVES! WINTER IS COMING!

There are several Mayhem commercials that make light of winter problems. The main point the commercials intend to get across is for homeowners to be prepared. Disaster can strike at any time, and no one wants to be caught unprepared. This year, Roach Plumbing wantes to offer our clients a few helpful plumbing tips. Prepare yourselves! Winter is coming! While this is not Game of Thrones, the classic line is still vital. No one wants to be in the middle of the coldest months of the year and have a broken water or sewer line. Avoid this problem with these helpful winterization tips. FALL PLUMBING MAINTENANCE TIPS • Hoses and sprinklers should be disconnected and stored • Inspect all hose bibbs or outdoor spigots, faucets, fixtures, and pipes for drips or leaks. Be sure to have these repaired before winter. • Insulate all exposed pipes in areas such as crawl spaces or along exterior walls. • Have your hot water heater inspected. This ensures your unit will continueworking through the winter months without

problems. Our plumbing technicians can spot potential problems and offer solutions before it gets too cold. • Schedule routine maintenance for your furnace and sewer/septic systems. • Clear all gutters and downspouts of leaves and debris that have collected. Be sure to do this regularly throughout the fall so that they are always clear. Debris can cause major problems if not cleared before winter. As the water collects and freezes, the weight can become too much for the gutter, causing it to rip from the wall. The water could also collect and freeze on the roof, causing serious damage. Now, these are only a few of the many tips you can follow to be prepared for the winter months. For more information or to schedule a routine maintenance inspection, give Roach Plumbing a call today. We are always available to help answer your questions and resolve your plumbing problems. Remember, no matter what issue you may experience, it’s Roach Plumbing to the Rescue! 318-631-4533

Jay Covington

The Forum News publisher and president The Forum News publisher and president Jay Covington, a native of East Texas, entered the publishing business as a graphic artist in Shreveport in 1983. At an upstart weekly publication, UpState Newsweekly, he quickly rose to the top of the creative department and began to learn about and take on responsibilities in the other areas of publishing business. Covington was the last of the original employee of the company. After the publication folded in 1987, he opened his own advertising agency and, in 1988, he put together the first edition of the grass-roots publication Forum Magazine -- now principally and widely known as The Forum -- and established the magazine as a leading voice in Northwest Louisiana. The Forum, with a print run of 23,000, is the largest circulation print publication of its kind in all of Northwest Louisiana. The parent company, Venture Publishing, Inc., also owned by Covington, produces other titles as well, including CityLife Magazine. CityLife Magazine’s circulation of 13,000 makes it the largest glossy and largest women’s magazine in this corner of the Louisiana. Many honors and awards have been presented to both Covington and his publications over the years. He serves on numerous community boards and is recognized for his philanthropy and support of the arts.

He says he still relishes his job and being part of Shreveport-Bossier. “There is still no job too small for me to consider at the company. If the trash is full, I’ll take it out. If I need to run take a photo, I do. That’s just part of my work ethic,” Covington said. The real truth, he says, is “It’s an addiction. Ink does just seem to get in your blood. I still get excited when the printed edition is delivered. I get a huge thrill previewing it online the day before when it is so vibrant and colorful and modern. I love sharing it.” Covington added, “And then, the cycle begins again and the big question looms, how do we top the last issue?” It’s never dull, he says. “I’m never bored. I’m always trying out how to make Page 1 jump out and grab the reader.” he said. “I absolutely love to watch people take magazines from the rack. I feel a little like Sally Field and my inside voice says, ‘you like me, you really like me!’ Of course, it’s really the paper they enjoy, but it’s personal, too. It means a lot to me that The Forum is well received.” Many, many millions of printed pages later, more than 1,000 various printed publications and their accompanying front pages, and tens of millions of dollars in advertising, Jay Covington’s company -- and his print legacy in Northwest Louisiana -seems assured. Well done!

Ed Walsh

Gremillion & Pou Integrated Marketing Manager of Public Relations and Community Engagement Ed was raised in Canton, Massachusetts, which is a small community just south of Boston. Canton is probably best known as being the retirement for American Revolutionary War hero Paul Revere. Ed’s mother and brother still reside there. After graduating high school, Ed attended Emerson College in Boston. After four years, he joined the ranks of other famous Emerson graduates like Jay Leno and Henry Winkler. Ed landed his first job in television in Northern Maine. Ed was an anchor and reporter for WAGM-TV in Presque Isle. The station was so far north, it would start snowing at the end of September and usually melt sometime in June. It was a one station t-v market and carried network programming from every television network. After 5 years in Maine, Ed followed the path of the Acadians and landed in Louisiana. His first stint was in Monroe at KNOE-TV. That’s where Ed got his first taste of southern hospitality and Louisiana politics. While in Monroe, Ed had the opportunity to cover the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Ed would spend 5 years in Northeast Louisiana, before he was lured to the Big Easy. Ed worked as a reporter for WGNO-TV, the ABC affiliate. Ed enjoyed working in New Orleans, but just months after moving, he got a call from his former news director in Monroe. They wanted Ed to come back as their main anchor. Ed was torn, but a twist of fate helped him make up his mind. Ed’s s-u-v was stolen from his apartment complex. That was enough to help Ed make up his mind and he headed north to Monroe. By the way, Ed’s vehicle was found by New Orleans Police. After it was stolen it was used in a crime spree, but that’s an entirely different story. Ed returned to KNOE where he was the

main anchor of the 6pm and 10pm newscasts for 3 years. One day, Ed received a call from former co-worker Sonja Bailes. She was the morning anchor at KTBS in Shreveport and they were searching for a co-anchor. I submitted my resume and was soon called by News Director Jan Elkins. After an interview and a screen test, I had the job. That was the beginning of a career that spanned for more than 10 years. Ed likes to say he was the number one rated male morning anchor in the Ark La Tex during his time at KTBS. The real story is he was the only male morning anchor at the time. While at KTBS, Ed covered most of the major stories that impacted the Ark La Tex, the country and the world. Shortly after starting at KTBS, Ed found himself in a farm field in East Texas that was littered with debris from the Space Shuttle Columbia. Ed was in New Orleans the day before Hurricane Katrina and evacuated with his crew to Hammond to ride out the storm. Ed would return to New Orleans to cover the Saints win in Superbowl 44 in 2009. But getting up at 2am every day took its toll and Ed decided it was time to make a career change. That’s when he was called to the bright lights of casinos. Ed was hired by Caesars Entertainment to supervise communications, advertising and entertainment at the Horseshoe Bossier City and Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. During his time there, Ed worked with entertainment greats like Diana Ross, Loretta Lynn and Tony Bennett. Ed would eventually join Gremillion & Pou Integrated Marketing to become their manager of public relations and community engagement for their many clients. Ed works closely with University Health Shreveport and Conway. He works to tell the incredible success stories at the hospitals. Ed is also working with many other clients that run across the business spectrum.

Working for Stargem records and at Stargem studios (now Curb studios), Robin performed with and directed some of Nashville’s biggest session musicians, including The Nashville Edition, Buddy Harmon, Hoot Hester, Hargus “Pig” Robbins, Phil Baugh, Terry McMillan and others. Lloyd Green, an award winning producer himself, called Robin a “true prodigical genius,” and began affectionately referring to him as “Ears.” This national experience and exposure introduced him to what would eventually become his niche in regional music-producing/engineering and arranging. He has easily produced and/or played on hundreds of sessions over the years, with such notables as James Burton and Joe Osborne. Burton has called him “the best guitar player anywhere near here!” Exact quote. Robin is now 54-years of age, married to Karla Mathis Vosbury. He still travels to Nashville on a fairly regular basis. His son, Cole Vosbury, has turned out to be an extremely gifted musician/vocalist/composer in his own right, and he is catching the attention of some major movers and shakers in the industry at this time. Cole placed 3rd on NBC’s popular show, The Voice. Robin was born on July 17th, 1961 and remains a lifelong resident of Louisiana.

Denise Bankston Owner, Doodley Dee's Farm

The word entrepreneur certainly describes (DEEDEE) Denise Bankston. Her instinct for sound business decisions has led her to a successful career in the Oil and Gas Industry, Real Estate, plus a philanthropist for our Bossier Parish Educators by giving them the Strategies and Skills for children that learn difference as well as every child in a classroom, A Kids Choice Foundation, and A Kids Choice Educational Services, which is partners with BPCC, Bossier Parish Schools, and Landmark Outreach Program out of Boston, MA. then, her recent; Doodley Dee’s Farm, where she and her son educate the community in Aquaponics; Tours of the Farm are already taken place; Deedee’s concern over how our food is processed, has lead her to focus on her family’s need for Pure Organic Food. Doodley Dee’s Farm is the largest private Aquaponic Farm in the world; This farm will also be an educational tour for our colleges and schools across the Ark-La-Tex! A Kids Choice Foundation, which is her passion, DEEDEE is the Trustee/founder of a 501c3 non profit org. She went on a journey 14 years ago to find a school for her youngest son, JT who has dyslexia, after being told by many educators, that he was too dyslexic for their program, and he would not graduate from Airline High School, although he had above average IQ. She realized very quickly

that in the South, our Teachers were not educated to help our children that learned differently!! She went on a mission to find a school around the US, she found Landmark School, on the North Shore of Boston; which is the best school in the world for children that learn differently and this was the beginning of a new education for her son to succeed, and that he did!! Not only graduated from Landmark, but with honors from New England College!! After returning home to Bossier City, she knew these “Skills,” “Tools” and “Strategies” needed to be shared with our Bossier Parish Schools. DEEDEE spent time and her own money to send Bossier Educators to Boston, for Landmark’s Outreach Summer Program, by adopting Bossier Elementary Schools for three years; then she brought Landmark’s instructor, Ann Larsen to Bossier Parish and educated every Bossier Parish Elementary School along with their Supervisors, Coordinators, Counselors, Principals and Assistant Principals! This was a huge success that was embraced by Bossier Parish Schools and community. A Kids Choice Foundation has opened its new facility in Downtown Shreveport and has branch off to become A Kids Choice Educational Services, another way to help our community by using the same Strategies and Skills that improved the way her son learned to be successful.

Congratulations

Tom Pace

Voted Lifetime Achievement Award

Now celebrating his 50th anniversary in broadcasting and marketing, Tom Pace still continues his love of radio today, soon starting four years on the “Talk of the Town with Tom Pace” broadcast live: 5p-6p, M-F on The Promise 90.7FM. It’s also audio streamed live at www.promisetalkradio.org. Starting back in 1965 on 1,000 watt KDXE in Little Rock, Arkansas, a young 18 year-old Tom diversified his career to also include television reporting and producing at KTHV-TV Channel 11 in Little Rock eventually becoming a Certified Radio Marketing Consultant (CRMC) as designated by the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB). Along the way, Tom became a Navy veteran, plus a graduate of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock with a B.A. in Speech Communications and Drama. He also taught courses in Speech Communications, as well as in Radio & Television Broadcasting for U.A.L.R. During his half-century in broadcasting, Tom made several stops along the way as an ‘on-air personality’: KRRP

in Coushatta, KCOZ-FM in Shreveport, along with KWKH-AM1130, KRMDAM1340, and finally as talk-show host and executive producer of the “Talk of the Town with Tom Pace” for the past 13 years. Most recently, for the past two years, he was chosen to Co-Host, “Talk Mavericks Basketball with Coach Steve Tucker” on The Promise90.7FM. “Quite honestly,” said Tom, “This had to be the most fun, and such a great opportunity to work alongside such a legendary basketball coach and Christian as Coach T.” Previously, in his sports broadcasting career, Tom hosted “Countdown to the Independence Bowl” for some 10 years, with then, I-Bowl Executive Director Glen Krupica, along with Jeff Dittmer, John Cordaro, and Patrick Meehan. “I will always cherish being a part of the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks organization. Plus, to be with them as the Mavs won two ABA Championships in 2014 & 2015, undefeated, will be a thrill I will never forget. Thanks and God Bless, Coach T.” I’ve been very fortunate and blessed to have the opportunities to meet and interview many greats in news, entertainment and sports over my 50 years in the media. Before I go any further, anyone who has ever achieved a goal has not done it on their own. My personal hero, mentor and friend, (like a Father to me), was the late Frank Page, a true radio icon and legend, known by most listeners as “Mr. KWKH.” When it comes to some of the most admired and respected greats I’ve known, the legendary James Burton is a guitar virtuoso, and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (I truly love

James, Louise, Jeff and the entire Burton family); so very proud to call Crimestoppers Director Jim Taliaferro my fiend as well as pastor Durell Tuberville. “Just a few of the entertainment legends I’ve met and interviewed include James Burton, the late B.B. King, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Liza Minelli, Ed McMahon, Tony Bennett, The Judds (Naomi & Wynonna) Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Vince Gill, Eddie Rabbit, Randy Travis, The Riders in the Sky, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Jr., Kenny Rogers, Clint Black, Martina McBride, Jim Ed Brown, Marvin Hamlisch, Tillman Franks, Merle Kilgore, and so many more, sometimes I lose count,” said Tom. Tom Pace has been actively involved in the Shreveport-Bossier communities thru various organizations: Board Member, Past President and current Membership Chair of the North Shreveport Lions Club; Board Member & Past President of Christian Service of Shreveport-Bossier; Past President of West Shreveport Rotary Club; Media Chairman for the Medal of Honor Convention 2002 hosted by ShreveportBossier; Media Coordinator for The Miss USA & Miss Teen USA Pageants held in Shreveport by the Trump Organization; volunteer for several other organizations including: the Independence Bowl, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana; The Strand Theatre; Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Visitors Bureau; Board Member of the James Burton Foundation for the Kids, and many others. Tom believes, like the late Zig Ziglar said, “You get what you want, when you help others get what they want.”

Ed Walsh

Ed was raised in Canton, Massachusetts, which is a small community just south of Boston. Ed’s mother and brother still reside there. After graduating high school, Ed attended Emerson College in Boston. Ed landed his first job in television in Northern Maine. Ed was an anchor and reporter for WAGMTV in Presque Isle. Ed would eventually join Gremillion & Pou Integrated Marketing to become their manager of public relations and community engagement for their many clients. Ed works closely with University Health Shreveport and Conway. He works to tell the incredible success stories at the hospitals. (see full bio page 46)

Beautiful Faces 2016

Cynthia Holman

What does Beauty mean to You? My mother taught me that you can be very beautiful, but an ugly attitude can overshadow your beauty. She further taught me to treat people the way I want to be treated; my word is my bond; share with those less fortunate that you; and always remember things can be worse. So when I think of beauty, I think of my mother. Love you Momma!

78 Southern Hospitality | LittleBigMag.com

Je뀆ica Latin

What does Beauty mean to You? My idea of beauty stems from my mother. She always complimented me on my outer beauty but stressed the importance of being kind and uplifting others. I'm a firm believer that if you have a bad attitude you can be the most beautiful woman in the world and still be unattractive.

Beautiful Faces 2016

What does Beauty mean to You? I think beauty comes from with-in. Its not just someone's appearance but its their attitude, loyalty, honesty that makes people beautiful.

What does Beauty mean to You? There is a saying that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder",but beauty for me is all about a positive attitude in life. It generates positive feelings and attracts positive life experiences.

E뀀u Waters

What does Beauty mean to You? If you asked me this question years ago I would have given you a different answer. After my car wreck I gained weight, lots of weight. As a person who has been skinny and athletic all of my life, I started thinking I was unattractive and felt unhealthy. As a result of the weight gain, I denied myself so many activities like going on vacation and spending time on the beach because I was insecure. And then one day I was reading one of my art books and I noticed the relatively large size of the women in those paintings. Then it occurred to me that the definition of beauty changes from one era to the next. Cultural beauty standards too; some cultures find long necks beautiful while others might find big feet attractive. I started thinking about all those successful women who made a positive impact and left their marks on the history of our world where neither beautiful or fit the standards of their era...but it didn't stop them from reaching their goals in life. Now I can tell you wholeheartedly that having a servant's heart and the best intention of others is what makes a person beautiful, not dress size or amour of makeup or hair color.

Beautiful Faces 2016

Tracey James

What does Beauty mean to You? I believe the old cliché “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I also believe beauty is how you love and care for others.

J'Lyn Henderson

What does Beauty mean to You? Beauty is something that shines from within. It is measured by the light and energy that you carry inside. Of course outer beauty is always a great thing to have, but your inner beauty should be so radiant that your outer beauty isn’t even a factor. Beauty is how you treat people, even when no one is looking. It’s the way you love God’s people as if he’s not watching.

Donna Phillips Owner, Absolutely Abigail’s

"At Absolutely Abigail's, there is something to bring out the beauty in everyone," says Donna Phillips, founder and proprietress. She started the boutique 16 years ago, and it has since become a chic, neighborhood shop with international attention. Absolutely Abigail's specializes in daywear and dressy/casual with a lot of layering, but also offers silks and velvets next to hand-painted denim. "It's unstructured, free-flowing, art-driven clothing for women," says Donna. The shop has an e-commerce website and accepts orders worldwide at www.absolutelyabigails.com. "As a child, I would rather have squeezed myself into a paper bag than a tailored suit," she laughs. "This boutique started out as a vision, and now it's my ministry. I thank God for blessing me with the passion and courage to pursue such an opportunity, and for the joy we bring our customers." "We have fun here, and it shows. My staff is incredible. Our customer service is fantastic. It's not just about the clothes - it's about the relationships. Clients leave here looking their very best." "I didn't have a business plan, marketing degree or a background in apparel, but I was blessed with a servant's heart to help women evolve their own unique style. Everything I've accomplished in my life comes together in my shop. It's a true extension of who I am."

Katrina Thomas State Farm Agent

As a strong, independent business woman, Katrina Thomas, works diligently to give back to the community that has supported her through the years. Her professional mission through her agency is to help people overcome the risks and struggles of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams...as she has realized her own. After graduating with a B.S. degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Katrina entered the workforce in October 1995, accepting a job with State Farm Insurance Companies. At the same time, she began decades of service to her country as a reservist in the United States Army. Six years later, she was appointed a fully licensed State Farm Agent and began running her own agency in South Shreveport, helping clients throughout Northern Louisiana with their insurance and financial needs. While running her own business has kept her busy, she also found opportunities to give back in other ways. In 2014, Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover appointed Katrina to serve on the City Workforce Commission. From 2009 to 2013, she worked on Louisiana's Workforce Commission, after being appointed to the position by Governor Bobby Jindal. Additionally, she's served as president of the Minority Business Council (2008), on the Central Vice President's Council in 2005, and as a member of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. She is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. In 2010, she acted further on her dedication to her church and women's ministry when she founded Make Me Mold Me Empowerment, Inc. and officially the or-

ganization was organized January 15, 2015. Through it, she provides guidance in self-development, goal planning, and leadership by sharing with fellow women her experience and life-lessons as a wife, a mother, and a businesswoman. She strives to motivate and help other women recognize their potential and live holistic lives. Her most recent accomplishments is being a recipient of the “2015 Lifetime Achievement Award with the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce on April 30, 2015 and presented as Queen of Krewe of Harambee on August 25, 2015 for 2015-2016 Mardi Gras season. Over the years, she's received many accolades in recognition of her contributions, including: Business Woman of the Year (2011), Business Person of the Year (2010), African American Achievement Award (2009), and two separate Small Business of the Year awards in 2007 and 2008. After 21 years of military service, she retired from the Army, but continues her civilian work as a successful State Farm Agent and a Notary Public. Her commitment to customer service and the community as a whole helped grow her business. In 2015, she was asked to service a second State Farm office in Minden. Katrina, along with her teams at both State Farm locations, take great pride in their goal to provide knowledge, respect, and good service to each and every customer, which they so richly deserve. Katrina feels she is truly blessed in her life and career, recognition that came when she fully realized "God is in Complete Control." She is a newlywed and proud wife to Demetrius Early and mother to Lenice Redmon Jr.

100 Southern Hospitality | ENTERPRISING WOMEN

that in the South, our Teachers were not educated to help our children that learned differently!!

Julie Vidler M뀐ris Editor of The Enterprise newspaper

As editor of The Enterprise newspaper in Mansfield, Julie Vidler Morris is a familiar face at meetings and events all around DeSoto and Caddo Parishes. She is a life-long resident of Logansport, only residing in the Shreveport-Bossier area for a few years. Prior to her employment as a reporter and later editor of The Enterprise, Julie worked at various area banks, serving in many capacities and wearing many hats from working in bookkeeping to administrative assistant for a couple of bank CEOs to a loan and compliance officer… throughout a 21 year span. Since she grew up in a family of bankers with her grandfather, uncle and father (Loys H. Vidler) all holding the title of President and above at various institutions, Julie jokes that she has green ink running through her veins, which has now turned to black ink for the paper. For several years she was a stay at home mom with her children, Tara, Jeremy and Kaycee, until she opened her own restaurant, “Cajun Cabin”. As the children entered their teenage years, Julie decided to close the successful business and be more accessible for their activities and events. Currently, Julie is married to Louisiana Hall of Fame vocalist and musician, Billy J. Morris, who was recognized in 2015 as one of our

In fact, Julie sings back-up vocals and harmony along with her talented husband, both on stage and on his recording projects. Julie is the mother of three children, as mentioned above, as well as two stepchildren, Cassie and Jake, and six grandchildren: Taylor, Zoey, Kayden, Cailyn, Brayden and Rylan. She and Billy J. also have four “fur babies” that include two pugs, Honey B. and Bella, Lucy Lou the dachshund and a rat terrier, named Chase. Three of the dogs were rescue animals. Julie is very active in her community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Logansport Finance Company, which is owned by she and her brothers, King and Jim Vidler. She also serves as a board member for the DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce, DeSoto Arts Council and Mansfield Female College Museum. She is a member of the Logansport Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Press Association, Logansport Riverstage Promotion Committee and Christmas Festival Committee. Jacqueline Scott

Attorney, Presiding Justice of Cajun Court TV Attorney Jacqueline Scott has made history again!! Scott is the first lawyer in the State of Louisiana to launch a reality mediation court show. Shreveport, La. – July 25, 2014 – There’s a new Mediator in town to settle real-life, small disputes. Justice Jacque is her name and she is the presiding Justice of Cajun Court TV, a reality courtroom television show filmed and based in Shreveport. Justice Jacque, a Shreveport native and Attorney at Law, brings over 26 years of legal experience to the show. As a Certified Mediator/Arbitrator, Justice Jacque understands the lengthy and expensive process of litigation. Her vision is to give parties a forum in which they can resolve disputes amicably, cheaper and without litigation, by stepping before her to tell their sides of the story. “As an Attorney I have firsthand knowledge that lawsuits can be drawn-out and sometimes stressful for all involved,” said Justice Jacque. “I want to decrease that stress by provid-

ing quick resolutions through conflict management.” Born and reared in Allendale, Shreveport, Louisiana, Justice Jacque understands the importance of hard work and integrity, as instilled by her mother and church family. “I want to resolve disputes that affect our community, such as bullying, family disputes, landlord/tenant issues, failure to repay small loans, vicious animal attacks, neighbor disputes, expediently and, in most cases, one day,” she said. Viewers can expect real life drama involving an array of issues, and Justice Jacque will mediate all cases with fairness and impartiality. Jacqueline admits the new endeavor is different from practicing law, because she had to represent only one side of the dispute. Judges have to listen to both claimants’ arguments and make a fair determination and implement applicable laws. As a mediator, Jacqueline “Justice Jacque” can deviate from the legal rule.

The City is a dynamic growing area with a proud past and a future filled with the promise of continued growth. It is an area that continues to be defined by the Red River and major cultural features including Barksdale Air Force Base and four riverboat casinos. Some of the key factors in the development of the area include its central location among major southern cities and its importance as a transportation hub. Barksdale Air Force Base is one of the largest military installations in the nation and by far the most significant employment generator in the area. The direct impact of Barksdale Air Force Base on the local economy is estimated to be in excess of $430 million. The City and Bossier Parish have continued to gain in population in recent decades with both growing at a faster pace than statewide rates for Louisiana. The City’s current population is 68,094, which is 6,779 over the 2010 census count representing an 11.1% increase. New construction from 1990 to 1994 was primarily retail and commercial in nature centered on the intersection of East Texas and Airline Drive. Pierre Bossier Mall, a regional

mall, is located at this intersection and has been the draw for national retailers such as Office Depot, Chuck E. Cheese, Red Lobster, Logan’s Roadhouse and many other local and regional retailers. More recent construction in the central portion of Bossier City includes numerous restaurants and hotels in close proximity to I-20. The majority of the new construction from 1995 to the present has been along Benton Road and Airline Drive, north of Shed Road and along the I-220 corridor. The construction of a Kroger Marketplace Store and the new Dement Corner’s Shopping Center, Home Depot, a Lowe’s, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Willis Knighton Medical Center, and the new Stirling Retail Center has resulted in a significant amount of commercial and retail growth along Benton Road and Airline Drive. The City has seen the northern area of the city continually grow in both area of residential development and new retail/commercial development. In August of 2014 the Sam’s Wholesale Club along the Airline Drive corridor opened and in 2015 the new Kroger

Marketplace store opened. The Bossier riverfront has undergone significant changes over the last two decades. The area has seen the addition of Red River locks and dams stabilizing navigation channels, the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway extension, and riverboat casinos. Bossier’ s Riverfront Development District is evolving into an entertainment area and is anchored by The Outlets at Louisiana Boardwalk lifestyle center adjacent to the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, the top-grossing casino in Louisiana. It consists of entertainment, retail, hospitality, and restaurant elements. The approximate 56 acres of riverfront property is situated in the heart of the Bossier/Shreveport metropolitan area. The project includes a variety of live music, performance theaters, restaurants, a blend of retail specialty shops, a multiplex movie theater, and a hotel. It is not only a major attraction for the 14 million plus gaming tourist visitors annually, but also to residents of the metropolitan area and surrounding region’s growing population and was recently indicated as the top tourist attraction by the Shreveport

BOSSIER CITY

Bossier Tourist Bureau, narrowly edging out the riverboat casinos. Louisiana Boardwalk is the first lifestyle center to open in the state of Louisiana offering outlet shopping, an entertainment district, and riverfront dining. Also along the Riverfront District is the Bossier City CenturyLink Center. The arena can house a variety of sporting and performance programs, as well as serve as a major assembly hall for the community. Since opening in late 2000, the Bossier City CenturyLink Center has grown in national prominence within the event and entertainment industry, consistently placing in the top 100 venues in the world for ticket sales, according to Pollstar Magazine, the leading industry tracking firm. The City and the Bossier Parish Police Jury, combined, issued bonds totaling $50 million for the development of the Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) and National Cyber Research Park. The State of Louisiana has appropriated $57 million to facilitate the development of these facilities and related infrastructure to support this development. Sixty-four acres of property was acquired in close proximity to Barksdale Air Force Base and close to the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI) line, which will provide access to high-speed computer capability and also provide a connection to all the major universities in the United States of America. Construction began in January of 2008 and opened in 2011. The Cyber Innovation Facility supports the activities at Barksdale Air Force Base, including the Air Force Network Operations Center (AFNOC). The AFNOC makes Barksdale Air Force Base the traffic hub for all Air Force communication and the enterprise level organization in the Air Force for communications. Barksdale has been selected as the location for a larger unit, Global Strike Command. Global Strike Command began operations at Barksdale in September 2010 and employs about 900 people. The CIC has

a distinguished list of academic research institutions serving as an academic advisory board. Currently, many of the major defense and technology companies have joined the CIC. The CIC became fully operational in May 2011. In early 2014, both the City of Bossier and the State of Louisiana were proud to announce 800 new technology based jobs coming to the area, with a new anchor tenant to the Cyber Innovation Park of Computer Science Corporation (CSC). Bossier City was selected from a site-selection process which the company considered 134 locations around the United States. Bossier City, as a result of the location of Barksdale Air Force Base being centrally located in Bossier City has caused initial development centered around Barksdale Air Force Base, however as the base grew, growth continued in a southerly direction and a northerly direction. East/west growth is limited due to the location of the Base and the Red River. The most significant amount of development is in the northern portion of the neighborhoods of Bossier Parish and along Airline Drive and Benton Road. The location of Barksdale Air Force Base in the area has historically benefited the residential market which in turn caused expansion in the commercial and retail markets. Prior to the arrival of riverboat gambling, “Old Bossier” was typical of many downtown areas in that it was populated with older masonry buildings which were occupied by low density commercial and/or industrial users. With the arrival of the casinos, the Boardwalk entertainment district and the City of Bossler’s revitalization effort for the downtown area, the City has planned significant project called the Downtown Re-Envisioning Project, which began in April 2016. This project will involve a $13 million public investment into the redevelopment of Barksdale Boulevard and the central area of the district.

The downtown area contains multiple buildings, dating from the early to the mid 1900’s. Most existing uses do not fully utilize the site, circulation, frontage, or access. While many of the buildings have an interesting character, mechanical, electrical and even some structural systems are deficient and require renovation to bring them into code and ADA compliance. The site’s historic character, frontage and interesting buildings lend itself to a mixed-use development with public open areas accessible to a town square for tenants and the community. The city is implementing the Bossier City Downtown Re-Envisioning Project which is designed to develop and stimulate market driven projects that ensure development in various districts. The introduction of mixed uses could create a vibrant downtown district and feed other businesses in the area. Improved circulation, landscaping, userfriendly building entrances and attractive signage could make this area a destination for locals and potential businesses looking to relocate in Bossier City. The project will focus on residential, public, and commercial uses which should represent a variety of uses that create an economic and community hub for the City of Bossier City. The area will include a mix of uses including offices, retail, office, medium to high density residential uses, houses of worship, meeting areas and parks/open spaces. This type of development reverts back to the more traditional central Main Street or square, fronted by pathways, civic buildings, specialty retailers, family eateries, downtown live work housing, neighborhood theater, central park within the town square and decorative landscaping. Overall, the economy in the Bossier City area is strong and continues to grow in both the availability and creation of good jobs for its citizens and availability to offer many quality of life and economic opportunities to the area. v

Have you seen the movie

Waitress?

It came out in 2007, but I never forget a movie in which pie takes a starring role. Keri Russell plays Jenna, a small-town diner waitress with a problem – she’s pregnant. And unhappy. She doesn’t love the baby’s father – her husband Earl – but does love her obstetrician, with whom she’s having an affair. She’s also a gifted pie baker, and since the town’s citizens swear by their daily slices, at least she’s got her job. We see Jenna make dozens of pies, from banana cream to blackberry chocolate, and she names each pie to match her mood, names like “I Can’t Have No Affair

CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY OASIS PIE

Because It’s Wrong And I Don’t Want Earl To Kill Me Pie (vanilla custard with banana, hold the banana)” and “Pregnant Miserable Self Pitying Loser Pie (lumpy oatmeal with fruitcake mashed in).” Waitress is funny, intelligent, delicious and, best of all, features an elderly Andy Griffith as Old Joe, a sly, pie-loving philosopher. Days ago I watched the movie-The Waitress with my two grand daughters, Alyssa and Kyndell Cordell. Alyssa said, DD, This is my favorite movie, and Kyndell says, "I want to make the Marshmallow Mermaid Pie”. So, I got this crazy idea to google the recipe of my favorite pies in the movie, and here you go - Enjoy!!!

A dark and velvety chocolate experience. In the movie, this pie used a chocolate cookie crumb crust which you can certainly also use but in this first testing, I went with a buttery, baked pastry pie crust. This is filled with luscious, dark and silky chocolate filling

and topped with a double strawberry filling. It is a sparkling romantic pie of decadence and the fluttery of spring – all in one bite. You can make the elements a day ahead and the assemble a few hours before serving.

INGREDIENTS

COOKING DIRECTIONS

• 1 baked 9 inch pastry pie crust (or chocolate cookie crumb pie shell) • Chocolate Silk Filling • 1/4 cup unsalted butter • 1 1/2 cup coarsely chopped, semi-sweet chocolate, (5 ounces) • 1 package miniature marshmallows • 1/3 cup whipping cream • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract • (Whipping cream as required) • Fresh Strawberry Filling • 2 cups strawberries, slightly crushed • 1/3 cup sugar • 1/3 cup water • 4 tablespoons cornstarch • 1/2 teaspoon strawberry or raspberry extract, optional • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar • 2 1/2 cups strawberries, diced if large, or halved if small GARNISH • 2 cups whipping cream; whipped with 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar • 1/3 cup chocolate cookie crumbs • Diced Strawberries

Bake and cool the prepared pie crust. Set aside. In a small saucepan over lowest heat, slowly melt the chocolate and butter together over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the marshmallows to melt and then the cream and vanilla. Refrigerate while making strawberry filling. For the Strawberry Filling, crush or mash the first amount of strawberries. Combine the sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl and whisk. In a medium saucepan, heat the crushed berries with sugar until well mixed and sugar dissolves into a liquid mixture. Add the cornstarch mixture until lightly bubbling and thickening. Remove from heat and stir in extract and vinegar. Cool 15 minutes and then fold in fresh strawberries. Refrigerate 2 hours. To assemble pie, spoon chocolate filling into pie shell. If the filling is too thick and cold, put it in a food processor and whiz with some whipping cream drizzled in, until it is soft enough to use as filling . Top with the strawberry filling and then offer with dollops of sweetened whipped cream. Dust top with chocolate crumbs and diced strawberries. Serve at once or chill up to two days. Serves 6-8
