MARIJUANA DISPENSARY FIT-OUT RARITAN, NJ
The project required sub-dividing an existing retail space to create this high-end dispensary in Somerset County NJ. The interior fit-out creates an efficient and welcoming domain for the display and dispensing of cannabis products in a secure environment dictated by this specialized use. Our designs and presentations were used to support the Department of Health Application.
MIDWESTERN UNIVERSITY, DOWNERS GROVE, IL
Midwestern University desperately needed on- campus housing shortly after opening a college of Pharmacy and attaining University status. The Living/Learning Center was conceptualized by the provost to innovatively unite dormitory rooms and academic facilities. The combination of these two distinct functions posed many challenges to the design team ranging from security issues to public space utilization. This seven story, sixty thousand square foot structure successfully integrates its many uses and delivers high quality classroom and oncampus housing. It has become a central meeting place on this 105 acre campus in suburban Chicago.
RUTGERS UNIVERSITY TRANSIT STOP, NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ
The design of the prototype to create this first stop, its fabrication, and erection were all completed within a 3-month period. The transit stop successfully complements the surrounding campus architecture. The arrangement of the super structure and use of polycarbonate roof panels provide pedestrians an unobstructed sidewalk, while bathing them, and concrete, in Rutgers scarlet red.
HISTORIC TRAIN STATION RESTORATION
FANWOOD, NJ
The Fanwood Historic Commission was looking for a solution to arrest deterioration of the eastern white pine wood trim of this stick-style station constructed in 1894 and added to the State and National Registries of Historic Places in 1980. The Commission also wanted to provide a safe and permanent barrier-free access to the building interior—which is currently used as the town’s community house. We formulated a plan that would remove the existing wood ramp and add a large entry plaza providing a low sloped (below 1:20) entry to the meeting room.
LAKE DUNDEE BOATHOUSE - ELMWOOD PARK, NJ
This new facility of approximately 3000 square feet is proposed to be constructed on land adjacent to the Passaic River for the NY Rowing Association. Up to twenty (20) ‘eight-man’ shells will be accommodated. The foundation system will be timber pilings, elevating the first floor above the flood plain. A wood boat loading ramp is proposed at one end of the facility. When complete, the space will include capability for rental events to offset costs associated with maintenance and program development. All materials and systems are appropriate and efficient for the intended use, including wood structure, natural lighting, durable interior and exterior low maintenance finishes. Locating a solar array to take advantage of the roof exposure and the exploit the power of the sun to assist in providing electrical power to the facility will further the sustainability of the structure.
ELBERON STATION NJTRANSIT
BAY STREET STATION NJTRANSIT MONTCLAIR, NJ
Through coordination with the Project Historical Preservationist, neighborhood site visits and public opinion input, we generated the architectural design aesthetic of a new station building as part of the Montclair Connection Project.
ORAL SURGERY SUITE BRICK, NJ
Located at the end of a strip center in Brick, NJ—this facility work was phased around relocating existing tenants to combine two suites. The work involved a gut renovation, removal of the remnants of a food service use and new gas , electrical, HVAC and plumbing infrastructure throughout. Five operatories, panoramic xray, support staff and waiting areas were designed to minimize interaction between patients entering and leaving, back of house includes staff breakroom and lockers as well as offices and storage areas. Exterior renovation included a sleek new esthetic. All areas are barrier free.

ADDITION TO THE FOREST ROAD RECREATION BUILDING
This existing park building received a substantial addition to house a 100 seat meeting room, full-service commercial kitchen and auxiliary storage for the adjacent ball fields and playground.
COMPLETE RENOVATION-ENGINE 15 JERSEY CITY , NJ
This turn-of-the-last century brick bearing wall firehouse was constructed when horses played a vital part of the Jersey City fire department. Although additions and remodeling occurred over its 100-year history, the building was in need of extensive updating to accommodate current fire-fighting technologies. The project included a complete demolition and renovation of the interior, new infrastructure, reroofing, insulation, new windows and doors, commercial-style kitchen, fire stairs, and ADA accessible entry to all first floor elements. Work also included replacement of all concrete sidewalks and vehicle entry apron. The facility, with its polished concrete apparatus bay floor, is designed to function equally as a mixed or single gender company.
FASCIA/COPING REPLACEMENT FIRE DEPARTMENT, FANWOOD, NJ
We designed a fascia and coping system that matched the existing aesthetic, but was constructed of durable materials that would provide a 25 year minimum service life. The original cast-aluminum letters where salvaged, repaired, cleaned and reinstalled maintaining the fire department stead fast image.
DEEPWATER WELCOME CENTER RENOVATIONS—Carneys Point, NJ
One of only two Tourist Welcome Centers in NJ, we designed the widening of the truck lanes to alleviate congestion by separating recreational and commercial traffic. We updated the interior lighting at the Tourism Desk, provided screen walls at restroom entries, replaced cracked interior floor tiles and marble thresholds, replaced failed exterior concrete sidewalks, installed a new roof, upgraded the rooftop mechanical equipment, and designed the replacement of the exterior pole lighting.

CREW QUARTERS NJTRANSIT GREAT NOTCH, NJ
This structure was sited between the tracks and the site of an adjacent trucking company in a new train yard constructed as part of the Montclair Connection. Approximately 4000 square feet, it houses yard-master offices, crew lockers and showers, train repair material storage, and lunch and conference facilities. The offices are situated to afford views of the train yard and maintenance bridges and tracks.
ACORN MONTESSORI SCHOOL CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ
This Children’s House multipurpose room addition was planned as an interior space to allow all 130 children on campus a space for drama productions, all-school assemblies, as well as parent meetings and specialty class instruction. Essential connections were made to other parts of the school while creating required egresses and fire separations.
MIDWESTERN UNIVERSITY, DOWNERS GROVE, IL
The Educational Resource Center was the first new building constructed on the University’s 105 acre campus in 25 years. This three story, thirty two thousand square foot structure houses the new College of Pharmacy and provides state-of-the-art research laboratories, faculty offices, and lecture rooms. The building was sited to provide a southern boundary to an existing central quad. Its semi-circular form was generated by the design of two identical quarter round lecture halls mirrored about a central corridor. The research labs take advantage of their top floor position by penetrating the roof plane with sloping vaulted ceilings complemented by large expanse of windows.
PUBLIC LIBRARY OLD BRIDGE , NJ
After just 15 years, the expanding community of Old Bridge had outgrown its library. The town decided to build a new library that was three times larger than the existing facility. A single story, forty four thousand square feet structure was designed in order to obtain a substantial grant sponsored by the State Library of New Jersey. The architectural challenge was to create intimately scaled interior spaces with plenty of natural light in a building with a footprint as large as a football field.
