Projects include: • Newark Penn Station Platform Rehabilitation Project The firm is currently the architect of record for the rehabilitation of the existing platforms, masonry walls, superstructure, windows, painted surfaces, lighting and amenities servicing all NJ Transit Operations within the east and west portals of the station. • Bay Street Station Completed in 2001, this new station was part of NJ Transit‟s Montclair Connection Project, which consolidated the Boonton and Montclair lines. The project received a Gold Medal Award from the Newark and Suburban Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. • Rutgers University Transit Shelter Stops The firm has designed the prototype shelter module that will be utilized throughout the New Brunswick campus transit system. The module can be arranged in a variety of configurations to provide large and small shelters and conform to a variety of site specific conditions. The first stop was procured in a “fast-track” manner and was designed, constructed and in operation within a 90 day period prior to the fall 2010 semester.

• Hamilton Station Parking Deck This project was part of a NJ Transit Task Order Contract. The firm was responsible for the architectural design for this 6-tier, 2000 space parking structure for Hamilton Township. • Elberon Train Station Earlier in her career as project manager to another firm, Virginia Seminara designed this historic-looking station located on NJ Transit‟s North Jersey Coast Line. The elegant design was a 1996 Downtown NJ Award recipient, and appears in many NJ Transit publications. • Great Notch Crew Building, NJTransit This structure was sited between the tracks and the site of an adjacent trucking company in a new train yard constructed as part of the Montclair Connection. Approximately 4000 square feet, it houses yard-master offices, crew lockers and showers, train repair material storage, and lunch and conference facilities. The offices are situated to afford views of the train yard and maintenance bridges and tracks

• Prototype Bus Shelter for Plainsboro Township The firm was hired by the township to develop a unique bus shelter that would unify the existing bus lines and increase bus ridership throughout the township. Several designs were formulated invoking the township‟s agrarian past. .

The first stage of this project will replace the entire Raritan Valley Line Platform (Track 5) . We provided field condition surveys and remediation details (30-100% Final Design and Engineering) for replacement, repair, or cleaning of the existing brick veneer, monumental pivot windows, historic lighting fixtures, new tactile edge and historic platform pattern and surface treatment, historic painting of all structural steel and steel and concrete ceiling components, and door and hardware replacement along doors from the platform to the station interiors. Subsequent phases will involve the replacement of the station roof membrane, and the remaining platforms as well as the restoration of all station head houses.

RU T G E R S U N I V E R S I T Y PROTOTYPE TRANSIT SHELTER

After years of planning, grandiose designs, and false starts, Rutgers University turned to us to design a transit shelter prototype that would be durable, cost-effective and an identifying icon throughout all campuses. Our solution successfully compliments the varying surrounding architecture and shows real school spirit by bathing the students in scarlet red. The design of the typical module, the arrangement of multiple modules to create the first stop, its fabrication, and erection were all completed within a 3-month period. The module is a tree-like cluster of columns supporting a steel pergola, covered by Rutgers scarlet red polycarbonate translucent roofing panels.

MATERIALS • Custom steel columns & roof framing • Rutgers-red polycarbonate roof panels

TRENTON-MORRISVILLE TOLL BRIDGE FACILITY

Field visits and forensic analysis of existing buildings and documents are being undertaken to determine causes of, and remedies for, façade cracking, horizontal displacement, and spall of existing brick and limestone facades at the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s Trenton-Morrisville property. Ultimately, we will develop a scope of work, construction bid documents, phasing plans, and construction costs for recommended repairs to the 4-story Administration office building, and two large maintenance garage facilities on this site.

As project architect, Virginia Seminara was responsible for design and construction documents for this branch rail station on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line. Her involvement on the project began in 1990, exploring design alternatives addressing the critical issue of context and history. The 19-th century station building that originally occupied the site was destroyed by a fire shortly before completion of its restoration work. The tiny hamlet of Elberon had lost a landmark. The replacement station respects the historic character of the area in its form and materials
