Our 18- and 22-year-old children haven’t holidayed with us for a few years, but we want to entice them away this summer.

My wife and I like hill walking and golf, but we need some excitement for them. Help!

Cannes has excellent bars and clubs, lovely beaches and all the activities your children could wish for.

Nice’s Old Town (pictured, right) is lively at night and there are plenty of drinking dens tucked away down side streets. If you drive just an hour out of the city to the Alps, there are some truly spectacular walks and views, interesting little villages and quiet alternatives to the hustle and bustle of the Côte d’Azur’s cities.

Diane Anthony It’s great to do things as a family, and Madeira (pictured, above) is the perfect place. For the best views and most memorable walks, go to the Volcanism Centre and Caves of São

Vicente. You could also try the fantastic route from Jardim da Serra to Curral, or the mountain walk from Pico do Areiro to Pico Ruivo, in Santana. Both offer outstanding views of the island. Madeira also has three golf courses: Porto Santo’s 18-hole course is for the more experienced golfer; Palheiro’s 18-hole course is popular for its views of the Atlantic and Funchal Harbour; while

Santo De Serra’s 27-hole course is the most beautiful.

For the children there are more than 15 amazing beaches to choose from – why not try diving, among other active sports? When night falls, head into Funchal to sip cocktails in the town and while you may like to retire for the evening, the kids can head to Vespas, the island’s largest nightclub. Matt Hill Head to Chania, in western Crete. There’s a lovely mountain range for long walks, fabulous golf courses, and superb family beach bars alongside tavernas and nightclubs open till the early hours. It’s also a good place to try exciting water sports.

I worry about travelling to new places because I am a vegetarian. What countries are good for vegetarian or vegan diets?

I do sympathise with your fear of not getting a good variety of food in new places as I’m a vegetarian myself.

However, far from finding no choice, I have found many wonderful new foods by holidaying abroad, particularly in Greece, Turkey and Italy. Stuffed vine leaves (parcels of cooked rice) in tomato sauce are yummy, while tzatziki (yoghurt dip) with pitta bread is a real treat and refreshing on a hot day.

Couscous with vegetables is delicious and so much better when freshly made and full of lovely spices. Italy is also famed for its wonderful pasta, pizzas and gnocchi. There

are few things better than sitting in a restaurant overlooking the Grand Canal in Venice, tucking into fresh pasta in a cheese or tomato sauce. Add a glass of Chianti and you are close to heaven!

Diane Anthony In Tel Aviv, Israel, most restaurants and supermarkets abide by kosher laws, meaning pork and shellfish aren’t served, and prepared food usually doesn’t combine milk and meat.

You’ll also come across falafels and hummus very easily, along with other tasty vegetarian dishes.

I’m a naturist and generally go to Majorca each year, but fancy trying somewhere new. What are the best nudist beaches that you fly to?

Instead of the Balearics, try the Canary Islands. You can head down to Gran Canaria where they have the best naturist beaches with all-year-round sun and 7km of golden sand and dunes.

One of the best beaches is Maspalomas, just be sure to remember these three important things: dark sunglasses so that no one knows where you are looking; a bottle of brandy to get rid of the shock; and most importantly, leave your clothes behind!

Javier Curbelo Caro El Cotillo is a tiny untouched fishing village with beautiful blue lagoons where naturists can get a real taste of the Fuerteventura lifestyle.

If you’re feeling a little adventurous, hire a stylish 4x4 and explore the north track, between Corralejo and El Cotillo to find lots of exciting naturist stop-offs.

Matt Hill The Plage de Tahiti is the “clothing optional” beach at the northern end of the Bay of Pampelonne in Saint Tropez near Nice and was listed in the Forbes Top 10 Topless Beaches. Go in the summer to see celebrity tanners! There are also several nudist beaches around Lisbon and Porto, although naturism is still catching on in these areas, so you can expect some peace and quiet during your visit.
