Architecture is a reflection of the designer’s beliefs and experiences. I plan to use my education that I have been blessed with to create environments that promote social interaction and discussion of creativity. My goal is to apply myself to form stronger designs that can reflect my evolution of ideas. INTEREST

CASA DEL PARC

Skin

Design Partner: Melina Cedillo The purpose of this project is to enhance and promote cultural diversity through education. We created an accessible space for all students in the area, stimulating opportunities to educate the community about different cultures and enhancing existing spaces for educational activities. An overhead path creates a roof over the three classrooms, ten markets and the exhibit space. The skin of the modules adjusts according to usage. It allows full control of the openness in order to interact with its surroundings.

Design Process The site is a four block square in the exiample located in Barcelona, Spain. The driving idea is to integrally connect the existing outdoor spaces with the created initeriors withoust castly disrupting the site. The volumetric concept of ‘Casa Del Parc’ is influenced by three different spaces where the existing vegetation fluctuates. After establishing three different regions with in the park, we layed out our program and developed connections between the built and open space.

G y m n a s t i c s F a c i l i t y Huntsville , Texas Design Partner: Melina Cedillo The assignment was to design the Womans Olympic Gymnastics training facility in Huntsville, Texas. The primary emphasis of the project is an axis emerging from the north side of the facility with an ending point at the lake. The program is separated into five separate regions that branch off the axis. The administrative and commons area is the first region located at the north of the facility. On the east side of the facility there is two residential regions. The first one is made up of six motel buildings, and the second region has nine cabins. The other two regions are made up of the artistic gym and the tumbling/ rhythmic gym which are located on the west side of the axis. The overall assemblage of the facility is designed to create a clear separation between the residential and gymnasium regions by the axis. Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator 200

PHOENIX CENTER

P h o e n i x C e n t e r Marble Falls , Texas Design Team: Studio 6 The Phoenix Center Project is a new campus that provides a mental health care service for children who have experienced trauma. The site has aspects of a summer camp with a focus on the Phenix clinic, an equine therapy center and cabins. The clinic is the flagship project on the site, providing spaces for counseling services, therapies and professional training. One of the main goals was to provide a therapeutic, restorative and supportive environment for traumatized children, family members and therapists. The design is focused on the needs of the children with special aspects uniquely designed for them. It features a kids-height window along the curved wall that allows the children to experience the space diffrently than the adults. Nature can aid in the healing process therfore we created small japanese style gardens to have nautre inside and give the clients and staff a calming zen-like vibe. The concept that drove the design of the clinic was split yet connected. This came from the initial idea of incorporating nature combined with the desire to be “homey. The clinic has three main programmatic functions: administration, counseling, and therapy. The three functions fit into a home like mass and were split to be able to intersect with nature. Similar to a front door, a central mass was taken out to create the circulation to connect the three masses. The form developed from the initial conccept. The three programatic masses are connected by a wrapping of the roof, floor, and walls to become a ribbon around them. The cut through is emphasized by an open structure that spans from each opening to the next. The fluidity of the shell and the openness of the circulation courtyards express the conecept of split yet connected. Programmatically, this allows seperation of public, private, and semi-private. C a L ’ a l i e r S T E A M H i g h Barcelona, Spain Ca L’alier STEAM High is an adaptive reuse of a 19th century textile factory in the 22@ district of Barcelona. The neighborhood used to be the industrial neighborhood of Sant Marti but is now a part of Poblenou. The neigborhood transitioned from factory industry to modern technology industry. The Ca L’alier high school is a new addition to the already thriving technology and creative hub of Barcelona. The school provides students with a private education focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics and a connection to existing companies in the area to prepare them for a career in that field. The textile factory dates back to the 19th century. It suffered 4 fires in one week in 2007. Majority of the interior structure was burned and could not be saved. Site

The site is located in between the old main street Pere IV and the new main street Diagonal. Becuase if its location I decided to make my site a public space that becomes a bridge between the two while also connecting the main building with the sport annex.
