Your classroom resources online, anywhere at any time. This guide will cover obtaining and installing the Microsoft Office freestanding application suite for students using OS X. Microsoft Office is provided to students with Office 365 for both PC and Mac computers at no extra charge.

Microsoft Office Microsoft Office includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook on the Mac, plus OneNote, Access, Publisher and Lync on the PC. Use it to work on a document or presentation while you’re away from the network, then save straight to Office 365 when you return.

Welcome to Office 365 About Office 365 Office 365 is a cloud-based system offering email (Outlook), instant messaging and virtual conferencing (Lync), intranet (SharePoint) and online storage (OneDrive for Business), along with access to the Microsoft Office desktop applications, offered under the DEECD-Microsoft agreement (2013–2018).

Open a web browser and go to the following address:

Students who have returned their http://cloud.<school name>.vic.edu.au parent/guardian consent form will use their eduPass (IDAM) username Substitute <school name> with your and password. school’s domain name. Example username: jcsml123

Downloading Microsoft Office The Office app suite is available to students directly from the eduSTAR cloud. Both Windows and OS X versions are available for download. There is no need to install again if you already have Microsoft Office 2011 for OS X or 2013 for PC.

1. C lick the cog in the top right corner of your school site and select Office 365 settings

2. Click software

The apps available are then displayed:

Installing Microsoft Office 2011 on OS X

1. Double click the downloaded file to open it

2. Click Continue

3. Click Continue again, then Agree

4. Click Install

5. E nter your password and click Install Software

6. Click Close when the installation completes

7. Click Sign in to an existing Office 365 subscription

8. Enter the username you used to sign into Office 365, then click Next

9. Enter your username and password, click Sign In

10. Click OK

11. Enter your name and school and click Continue

12. Enter your preference here, then Continue

13. Click Done to complete the install

Configuring Outlook for Student email

1. Launch Microsoft Outlook by clicking it’s icon

2. Click Add Account

3. Click Exchange Account

4. Enter the student email address for both “Email address” and “User name” fields and their password, then click Add Account


5. Click Allow when prompted with the above popup. You may be asked to do this twice

6. Enter a name for the account description – note that it won’t update the name until you exit
