Z. JIM
Happy Youth Month!!! Finally the month built and celebrated for the youth of our wonderful country. Being part of a magazine built, owned and managed by youth is a phenomenal experience. We the youth of this country owe it to ourselves to build the companies and industries that will build our nation. With that being said and in the spirit of youth. We are inspired and encourage by the class of ’76 to rise up and start the road to building a youth conscious of its challenges and able and confident enough to attempt to conquer them. We’ve built a very complacent and understanding youth that believe they are entitled to what the world gives, this is a broken mentality we need to tackle with every action we take. No action is too small, no act is too minimal for it not to matter. Do what ever it takes however it takes to become like the class of 76 that ‘refused to accept the situation they where ordered to accept. Rise up in you classroom, in your office, in your house , in that party you go to. Rise up and start asking yourself if you are of ’76 DNA. We built an issue around youth. Built for the youth. And by the youth. House music can become the very power that influences people to change their ways and build something bigger in themselves. We help you see that. With an exclusive interview with Euphonik , which is something of a phenomenal experience. His confidence in his music is backed by his talent and you can’t question his art. Enjoy this issue- it was built for you!

LEGEND KHABZELA
One of seven children, brought up by a deeply religious single mother, Khabzela, born Fana Khaba, grew up in the poverty and hardship of Soweto. He left school without a matric and became a taxi driver, but took only five years to realise his dream of becoming a radio DJ.

The energetic and vibrant young man received a break on Soweto Community Radio and started building up a following before he moved to Yfm. The most popular DJ on Gauteng's favorite youth radio station, Khabzela stayed loyal to his humble origins and championed the emergence of kwaito as a leading South African Genre. Khabzela, an ex-taxi driver, became an overnight sensation on Yfm when his weekend show The Jam Shack in 1999 became the most listened to show on Yfm – itself the biggest regional radio station in the country. Before DK@Y he was Yfm’s breakfast host, having replaced Phat Joe. In addition to his successful radio show, Khabzela was a sought after MC and one of the hottest club Dj’s in South Africa with a number of successful compilation albums under his belt. Khabzela released five compilation CDs, The Gospel Album PYG , Mekonko (Volumes 1, 2 and 3) and The Real Makoya with DJ Tira before his death. In 2000 The Future Magazine named Khabzela as one of the 15 most influential media personalities in the country. In April 2003, the inspirational role model announced on air that he was HIV positive. There was an instant and overwhelming response of love and support from his listeners. Described as cheeky, explosive and direct, Khabzela was firmly entrenched in the hearts of his fans, many of whom would attend his funeral at Soweto's Orlando Stadium less than a year later.

The BookKHABZELA: The Life and Times of a South African by Liz McGregor A book that was published in September 2005. McGregor traces a deeply personal journey, exploring the choices and circumstances behind Khabzela's decision not to take ARVs and his desperate search for alternative remedies to save his life. She charts the tension in a man torn between conflicting Christian and traditional African beliefs. The biography has been conscientiously researched, given the sensitive subject matter and the difficult logistics involved in meeting with many of the icon’s family, friends and colleagues. A fitting tribute for a man that not only showed youth the detrimental impact of AIDS denialism but had an effect on a generation of young people that needed to face some harsh truths. Khabzela was an HIV and Aids ambassador for the youth: using his popularity and the medium of radio, he convey the message of awareness. The month before he died, Khabzela was given the Nation Builder's Award in recognition of his contribution to the fight against HIV/Aids. His impact on the youth might be a lot more remembered, but his love and passion for South African music cannot be forgotten.
Former Yfm Station Manager, Greg Malokaand whom we should all strive to emulate. He taught most of us – colleagues and listeners - that life is important and now that he's gone, it is up to us to complete what he started." VOCALIST
The vibrant, phenomenal, dancer, performer, not only does she have a big voice, but she has soul. Soweto born singer Winnie Khumalo was born in Mofolo North in 1973 and was introduced to music at the tender age of 15years. She worked with the legendary producer Chicco Twala and released a couple of albums. She was famously known for being a vocalist backing up the sensational Brenda Fassie, BOP, Pure Magic, Zonke and many more. This lady is an epitome of an all rounder because She then also dabbled into acting. Winnie then did what most women struggle to do, she left the industry and took care of her daughter Rethabile and son Thando.
After 7 years of self isolation from the industry Winnie Khumalo returned to the industry with a bang! She was new to the young ones, and a classic that was greatly missed by the old ones. Releasing an album titled 'I just want to live my life' produced by the stable Kalawa Jazmee. The house single 'I just want to live my life' dominated the charts and definitely was a good way of saying 'I'm Back'. It got her several nominations for the SAMA's and Channel O Awards. She has performed in several stages and was a favorite for our President during the 2009 elections. Later she then dropped another house album called 'Women' which was also a success produced by Kalawa as well.
This women was there during the times of the struggle and had a huge impact in the industry then working with big names. Years later she still inspires young women, she's still relevant, she's gotten better with age, And we Love her!

RISINGIMP I remember back in the day when everyone mostly aspired to be a doctor, nurse, accountant, and police. As a teen I was strangely different, I was obsessed with house music and particularly the art of playing. At some point I tried convincing my dad to get me equipment. Not that I succeeded in getting them because he simply thought I was insane, so did the whole family; but it was worth a try, unfortunately even I was forced to succumb to the 'norm' of actually going to university and study something that is viewed as 'contributing to the society'
However, over the years I must say that The Art of House Music is becoming more recognized. Especially in homes because that's where decisions start! More kids leave school and study sound engineering or other forms of training that help in becoming a good dj. More young ladies are starting to get into house music and are becoming successful, maybe I still have a chance after all.

The field is getting more respect and the craft is no longer seen as the ridiculous thing boys who like partying or girls do. Its becoming a strong career path that the youth takes very seriously. We must acknowledge this because the people who create house music don't only make us dance our nights away and take us through these phenomenal journeys as house music lovers, they actually put food on the table for their families, they take kids to school, they build homes and build themselves!
Being in the month of celebrating the youth its just so amazing to see how we have evolved as the country. Our thinking and doings are no longer driven by being oppressed but by rather following our hearts and where our passions lie. This may be being a doctor, an accountant, a teacher, or even a House Dj!! BY: ZINZI JIM

STEP 1: BUDGET! BUDGET! BUDGET!
$$$$
This will always depend on how you plan on organising your party, if all payments are made from your own pocket or sponsors subsidise your costs, which in most cases they give U.B.R which generally means they give you stock in exchange for marketing at your event.
STEP 2: VENUE
STEP3: STAFF
Find a suitable venue for your event depending on the number of people you plan on hosting, price of the venue and depending on if it will be profitable for you(if your event will host more than 4000 people outdoors you will need to register for JOC which is basically enables you to have safety measures like Ambulances on the ground, cops, traffic cops etc.)
Find workers to help out with the event (bouncers, waiters, car guards etc.) and whatever you would feel is necessary for your event to be a success.
STEP5: MARKETING Invest in marketing which includes paying a graphic designer to design a poster for you for social media marketing on twitter, facebook, mixit , etc, print flyers(which you can find out about on www.FlyerZ.co.za). After all is done, go out into every place where you feel your target market spends their time and just give out flyers everywhere and anywhere to ensure your event is a success.
AD
STEP4: ENTERTAINMENT Book dj's and performers for your event, which of course will depend on the budget you have and the capacity of your venue to accommodate the followers and fans of your headline artist/s or dj/s
STEP6: TICKETS
Print tickets which you are going to sell to your customers, you should work with a reliable ticket sales company like computicket and web tickets to avoid ticket fraud and losing out on money because of mishandling of money. DEEPMAG.TUMBLR.COM

CAN’T SHINE ON MY SHINE: THE DONALD NOMINATED FOR BEST AFRICAN ACT FOR 2013 BET AWARDS. Ok so like right now, you can’t mess with “Mr I deserve”, Donald. Hot on the heels of his Metro and SAMA wins, following his insanely successful 2012/2013 solo debut album, “train of love”, The Donald just got a nod from BET in the form of The best African act for 2013 nomination. Another SA act nominated is Toya de Lazy. But man, Donald must have shades for every day of the week, future shining so bright, it’s blinding! SAMAS 2013 REPORT: SHOW OF THE SEASON
Undoubtly the best produced SAMAS ever! The biggest spectacle in the South African music scene took place on the 9th May at Suncity and everyone who was everyone was there, even those who weren’t (DJ Black Coffee) were well represented. Black Coffee wasn’t present to accept his win for best dance album win for his much acclaimed “Africa rising”, but no fear, his beautiful wife was at hand to do the accepting, but lets face it, the win seemed almost inevitable. By far the biggest event for dance lovers for the night. Mahoota and Vetkoek feat Dr Malinga got to perform the festival anthem “via orlando”of cause, but honestly,

the Metro FM performance earlier in the year, had already cooled the SAMA expectation for the performance. Donald got a chance to showcase why his a BET nominee this year, with his usual dramatic self performance and that was just about it for the dance lovers, the rest of the nigth belonged to hip hop and gospel, nuf said! But the biggest event of the night was simply the incredible overall production of the show, lazers everywhere, the stages and the unbelievable production, simply out of this world! I was a little hard in the previous issue about the shows previous productions, so I fully approved of the show this year, thumbs up.
WHEN GIANTS COLLIDE
vs So you might have heard about the disagreement between Black coffee and YFM that took place this year leading to all Soulistic Music being pulled from the YFM playlist, unfortunate really. Coffee has kept mum on the issue so far, but breaks his silence in a recent interview, making his feelings clear on the matter. Black Coffee makes it clear that his interpretation of the deal was that music performed by him during the YFM Monday night show which profiles musicians playing their music live on air or recordings would be copy write owned by YFM thereafter, when he than requested to have the contract amended, station manager Pillay, refused, prompting Coffee to turn the deal down! Of cause if you are in the loop, you would know that the disagreement took to twitter, with Coffee telling YFM that they can pull all Soulistic Music from the music playlist from here on because as per Coffee “he refuses to be bullied by YFM. Pillay has since addressed the matter on the station live, but whatever the case, it was a sad moment in the history of the station, with its proud history of supporting SA music. And more importantly, a very sad moment for all fans of Soulistic Music, which has under its banner the likes of Shota, Tumelo, Male and of cause not to mention Coffee himself. Aaaah SAD! The station gives an opportunity to djs, producers and labels that offer quality music that is consistent and new in thought. The whole idea of the station to grant a lot of local talent the chance to expose themselves as well as their music to the rest of the world. Great achievements to date has been starting off its own subdivision record label – DeePlay Music. This is another platform creation for producers whereas the label itself is seeking more talent to get promoted. This is just the tip of the ice-berg as House365 Radio will explore more into the whole entertainment industry and building an identifiable brand to the House Music market.
"
House365 Radio expects every member of the House Music Nation to take part in building it
Future plans for the station is to have a stream on a 24/7 basis as well as its own frequency. All of this is intended to reach out to a wider market where the aim is to reach out to people who cannot afford smartphones and internet access, rural areas for instance and townships for instance. This will be a great implementation not just for the station but for independent artists and labels. A platform here is given and House365 Radio does expect every member of the House Music Nation to take part in building it and taking it further as they believe that they are not an upcoming brand on its own. The station believes that they need every community’s contribution and every artist to exploit these kinds of opportunities granted.

FUTURE TALENT TO LOOK OUT FOR
Arguably the best producer to have signed under "do it now" records,Brian Blaq has proved that dedication, hard work and persistence will take you closer to your dreams if you keep working at it. Having witnessed Brian Blaq in action at "The Warm up" sessions I can truly say he is talented and has an impeccable ear and passion for house music, read the interview and find out about the man behind the music.
Q: Where does the name Brian Blaq come from? A: Funny story that. I had taken a 3 year break from dj’ing and when I came back into it, I joined Soulcandi. Before taking a break, I used to call myself DJ Brian. This one day I was playing at one of DJ Terances' parties and was with a friend of mine. While we were chilling, waiting for my turn to come, I noticed that my friend was looking real closely at me. After a while, I became uncomfortable and asked him what the matter was. He highlighted at the time that the he realized I had a black car, a black phone, a black dj bag and I was wearing a black t-shirt…so everything was black. He just came up with the name Brian Black, but just to be different, he advised that I spell it as BlaQ. Besides, DJ Brian was just too “simple”. I stuck with the name ever since.
Q: Who inspires your music? A: A lot of things inspire me. I have an overwhelming love for hip hop though, so I draw a lot of inspiration from the hip hop culture. Q: What made you decide to be a producer and house dj? A: I fell in love with dj’ing a very long time ago when I met and befriended DJ Christos when I was in high school. Producing was by default. I started producing when I met a hip hop producer known as Eko. We made a few tracks together and I guess a passion for producing kinda stayed with me. Q: What crowd would you say you cater for? A: I cater for anyone that appreciates good music…both young and old.

Q: Tell us a bit about your album, who you featured, the deeper meaning behind your tracks? A: The compilation is known as Mechanix Of House Vol.2. It’s a follow up to volume 1 that was released in 2010 (mixed by 2lani The Warrior, G-Funk & Thee Gobbs). It’s a two-disc compilation that has been mixed by RudeSoul and I. The beauty about this compilation is that the label I signed into (Do It Now Recordings) gave me the freedom to choose the songs I wanted on the compilation and gave me the creative freedom as well to compile and sequence them in my own way. It’s a true reflection of a typical Brian BlaQ set. I also had the opportunity of compiling my own song I did with TriGo and Mr.Lee. The song is called “Happiness” and has been on YFM’s playlist for some time now. The feeling of sharing your passion with the world is really overwhelming, and I believe this compilation is just a pave way of greater things to come from Brian BlaQ. Q: Tell us a little about your role in soulful collective? A: The Soulful Kollective is made up of 3 dj’s; DJ Jiyane, Sai (of Sai & Ribatone) and Brian BlaQ. We started the initiative in 2009. We have a podcast radio show that comes out every 2 weeks, where we take turns at doing mixes. The main aim was basically to play music that is not ordinarily played on your mainstream radio stations. We have since become one of the biggest and popular podcast radio shows in the southern hemisphere. We have followers from South Africa, to Chicago, Scotland and London. I am the “voice” behind most of the shows, however, the guys do add in their input. The important thing however is that we all contribute in to the success of the show. The two guys play an important

role behind the scenes and making sure that the show comes out on time and that the technical side of things is sorted out. It’s not easy sometimes, but because of the close relationship we have, we look past our differences. Q: Where can people find your tracks? A: Most of the music I have done has not been released as yet, however, the current single that is out (“Happiness”) will be coming out very soon with remixes from German producer, Andre Loddemaan, Oddxperience and Those Boys. It will be available on Traxsource, Beatport and Juno. Q: What does Youth Day mean to Brian Blaq? A: It is sad to see so many young people celebrate this day without acknowledging the deeper meaning behind the holiday. It is not just another public holiday. We need to acknowledge the sacrifices that were made by the youth of 1976, who sacrificed their lives in order for us to enjoy the fruits of the freedom that we now have. We need to pay our respects to the likes of Teboho “Tsietsi” Mashinini, Hector Peterson, Steven Bantu Biko and the many other young people that put their lives at risk so that we could live in a democratic South Africa. The day means that as a youth of South Africa today, we acknowledge these sacrifices and take advantage of the opportunities that are now available to us to make our lives and those of others better.

EUPHONIK It took two months and much debate about how this issue needed to be reflective of the explosive figure that Themba “Euphonik” Nkosi, in our eyes at least, is. So finally we got the response we so eagerly awaited, the joy was soon followed by discussion of where to start, after all, it has been a decade and in that decade, the name Euphonik has exceeded the status of just DJ and has become one of the biggest brands in the country, while elevating to international stature. To call Euphonik certain or perhaps confident, seems almost like an understatement, take from that what you will, but what separates Euphonik from all the other “confident” artists in the industry, is the poise of a man who really has nothing left to prove, who speaks with a mountain of knowledge and really who’s been there, done that and has all the rewards to prove it. For the majority of house lovers, Euphonik was introduced to us as on half of Kentphonik, since than however, he has gone on to become one of the biggest sound makers in the country and pulling some serious weight on the international market, being a regular on the European house circuit. What has truly made him a stand out act however, has been what you could call his stand alone insistence to define himself and his own sound, propelling him into being one of the most diverse and recognised DJ’s in the country by a wide range of listeners, by far a great achievement in a country so diverse, even in our preference of sounds. So what drives this still young man to work as hard as he does to achieve the heights he has? We ask him these questions and find out what makes Euphonik tick.

DM: You’ve been in the industry for over a decade, where did it all start? EU: It started in my garage at home in Benoni with some basic DJ equipment.
DM: How difficult was it turning your love for house into a respected profession? EU: It was very difficult because there were few people doing it at this level, so you couldn’t even say you wanted to be a professional DJ because it wasn’t considered a career path. Also having parents who didn’t quite understand that this is an industry, so over and above the hard work you have to put in to become a success at it, you still have to prove people wrong.
DM: Your sound is highly debated, how would you describe it? EU: My sound is music. I play what I like, when I want, however I want. I’m an artist and having creative freedom is important to me. I’ve always stuck to my beliefs where music is concerned and I haven’t been wrong so far. I have a global perspective over the sound I choose to play and sometimes you don’t choose the music, it picks you.

We hooked up because we were both trying to get somewhere in an industry that was difficult to crack and we decided to team up because there’s strength in numbers.
Music comes first before everything else.

DM: Yet again you are part of a powerful duo F.eu, talk about your relationship with DJ Fresh? EU: Fresh is a mentor of mine, before Fresh House Flava 1, I listened to minimal house music or international as it was called then. I started following that sound and have always wanted to meet and work with him. I met him at Whozoo where I was a resident DJ for a long time and we got along well. Now we are business partners and friends. That relationship works because we are honest and open about everything and mutual respect is important. DM: After the successful TV and album versions of club culture, can we expect more business collaborations between you and Fresh? EU: Definitely, we are constantly doing stuff. Our only problem is that we aren’t loud mouths about our work. We have Oh Ship 2 coming later this year, which is a cruise party we started last year and we have our monthly residency at Vacca Matta, Monte every first Saturday of the month. DM: You are driven and ambitious, what more do you feel the SA house industry is yet to achieve that you want to be part of? EU: It’s a critical one, but I wish they built careers as quickly as they are keen to destroy them. Lucky for me I wasn’t built by the media. I built what I do one person at a time and that way you get people to know you, not think they know. Personally I have a lot of respect for the media and publications, but non for certain journalists. DM: DJ101, what do you hope to accomplish with its establishment? EU: Building and sharing information is what I want to do with it. When I was starting out there was no central point to go get information especially from the established industry players who were in it. There is no need for trial and error in this day and age and that’s what I want to get rid of. DM: Lastly, Best DJ in SA and why? EU: The all-rounder in the country is Oskido and if you don’t know why, do your research. BY: IMKHITHA MKWEBULA

“
Ever heard people say “you’re a born leader” or “this is in your blood”? I’m sure you have and do you ever ask yourself what that means exactly? Are we saying leaders are born not made or that musicians are born not created? Well than if that is the case, why do we have hundreds of young aspiring musicians and actors enrolled at performance arts schools, surely if all that it requires to be a success at it (whatever your “it” is) is talent, then these young artists wouldn’t bother paying money to learn how to play an instrument or to hit a note, right? Wrong! Talent is not a career path or a job, it is a calling and if you’re the religious type you would know that is a gift from God, the highest calling, right! True talents don’t weigh their options than choose to go into being performers, it’s the only thing they can do, the only way they function, take what they do best and instinctively, not matter how tormenting it can be to them ( Amy Winehouse) and they cease to function. Often the greatest talents whether they choose to go to an arts school for lessons or not are already miles ahead of the class, they are the ones that create their art during their spare time, their
V
TALENT
idea of fun is teaching themselves how to play an instrument, writing a song, teaching themselves production, how to work the decks, school is optional and often can act as a hindrance to their learning process. Da Capo taught himself all he knows, Black Coffee revolutionised music based on his own exploits, hate or love him, Tira created the new sound of kwaito, Albert Einstein’s greatest discoveries were as a result of his own mind, Shakespeare’s literary work was outlived him by centuries and so the list goes on and all these people have two things in common, incredibly talented at what they do and very little training if any. See what we must understand is that, it all starts with the talent, the pre-requisite for success is the TALENT, without it no amount of training can make you good enough, you’ll just be another good performer, have success even, but no one will remember you, talents live for ever because what they do exceeds any amount of training. We train to refine what is already there, not to create it. So I would advise for you to ask yourself first before you make that life changing decision, what is your talent and how can I make it work for me. BY: IMKHITHA MKWEBULA

TRAINING "PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT" is the best way to describe how the likes of Black Coffee,Euphonik,dj fresh, vinny da vinci and many more have made it to the top. There's a lot of artists who fell along the way side in pursuing their careers because they had talent but lacked the training and hard work to pursue their dreams and make them turn into a reality. Again and again there's always a rise of talent that bursts into the music industry and then disappear because they haven't grasped the concept that TALENT WITHOUT TRAINING IS MERELY JUST A HOBBY. Many artists will tell you stories of sleepless nights, toil, struggle and failure in the beginning of their careers, but because of training hard

There's a lot of artists who fell along the way side in pursuing their careers because they had talent but lacked the training
at what they believed in,they eventually succeeded and now perceived as being talented. If you were to sit down and talk to legends in the house music industry, guys like nick holder, vinny da vinci, christos, glen lewis,Black coffee, they would certainly agree that training is essential to become the best producer, musician,dj etc. It is because of training that black coffee has won so many achievements in his life,it is because of training that Vinny da vinci and Christo's are named the pioneers of house music and it will always be the forerunner of great prosperity for future generations to come... Talent is how you know where you are and are going, hard work is what keeps you going and training is what gets you there.

RGROUND PROFILE
Niqco Young, gifted and black is how I would describe Niqco. The talented Kwathema born has touched many loyal house music fans with his djing' and producing skills, many who have witnessed Nicqo in action will without a doubt agree that Niqco has defined what it is to chase your dreams. He started house production in grade 10,which was seven years ago...first as fooling around at home on his PC ,on and off, then started getting interested +-3/4 years back. He fell in love with deep house, and deeptech production 2 years ago. Ever since its’ been the only thing I put his mind. Determined to be the best in the industry with no music background he sat down alone for days on end trying to figure certain things out till he found out a bit more about sounds and notes. The only music background he can say he has is listening to music and How its laid out, how it sounds and aiming to get better each time he is on those decks, that instrument and that computer producing a song
Nicqo has worked with a lot of people in the industry, he recently worked with a new member in Afrikah Defected that goes by the name of Delakes, which is a deep tech dj/aspiring producer, uMusic PMH (Most Wanted Music),Lucohauze LPMH, not forgetting the EP he is currently working on which includes the above mentioned together with Objectives, a couple of remixes for DJ Smooth & Feel G,Mzansiblackroof, and much more. There's definitely much more in store for deep house fans from this talented gentleman. Nicqo described Youth day to him as “what's also knowns as june 16 as, Soweto Uprising & Hector Pieterson being carried by Mbuyisa Makhubo after being shot by South African police, during the Apartheid which shows the struggles and pain our fellow south Africans went through so we as the youth can enjoy the freedom to make music and express ourselves because of that youth day will forever remain as a blessing to me and many artists out there". With that said look out for Niqco who is no doubt the future of house music.

Title: A million Sprockets Artist: C.9ine Record Label: Soul Candi
Title: La Dolce Vita, Vol.4 Mixed by: Hareal Salkow Record Label: Soul Candi The La Dolce Vita series returns with Vol.4 mixed by old school legend Hareal Salkow with a 3 disc package. The 3 disc compilation mix packs some serious punch with a long list of very recognisable names and a very commercial mix that has everything from up tempo deep house to dub-step. Disc one features some of 2012 favourites, with originals by Goodluck-“taking it easy”, Jullian Gomes feat Bobby-“lovesong 28” and Miguel Campell-“something special”. Label mates Mi Casa also make repeated appearances in the compilation, featuring in disc one with the track “give you love”. Disc one caters for the deep house traditionalists, with a mid tempo feel that soothes one into the more up tempo 2nd and 3rd disc which features hits “million voices”by OTTO KNOWS and Pascal and Pearce-“days go by”, this collection of dance floor hits lead the listener into the hard hitting dance floor 3rd disc. Disc 3 gets straight to the point with the infectious dance anthems of deadmouse –“strobe”, Paul Van Dyk feat ARTY-“the ocean” and with the Armin Van Buuren feat winter skills hit “take a moment”. This 3 disc mix is an infectious disc that will get any listener to the dance floor quickly and packs a punch from disc one.

If music had its own 7 wonders of music, they would go something like, sound, production, talent, lyricism, rhythm; all out artistry and the 7th wonder would be C.9ine. To listen to the production of this duo feels like the musical equivalent of watching Picasso at work. They captured the hearts and respect of the South African market from their debut release sound cloud and continue on the path of brilliance with their latest work of art, “a million sprockets”. The duo seem to do what they want and dance to no mans tune except their own, yet they effortlessly encapsulate each individual listener, with complex, intricate sounds, that leave the listener wondering how does a mere man produce such sounds. My favourite track by far in the disc is the smooth textured “butterfly” feat Kholi, a track that might prove to be a fan favourite will be “into the night” feat Cozmiq, we also hear Zyon making a vocal contribution on the superbly arranged “take it over”. Let it be known though, no one track stands out from this album as every track weaves itself so effortlessly, yet intricately to this incredible offering. I dare say, if I could listen to one album this entire year, A million sprockets would be it.
ALBUM REVIEW
Title: Hey- The Remixes Artist: Kojo Akusa Record Label: Peng Africa Percussions, jazzy, low tempo, Afro rhythms are just some of the words one could use to describe the Kojo Akusa offering. Kojo, if you might not be too sure of his work, has remixed tracks for just about everyone in the deep house scene under Peng Africa, he has made appearances on the Lulo Café hosted show on Metro, audiogasm and has an urban beat mix. On the Remixes Kojo hands the steering wheel to some very capable hands in the likes of SA rising star Da Capo who remixes the Beat Rebel Restyle, the drum induced track stays true to the Afro style that Da Capo has honed and become so well renowned for. Lele X also makes and appearance, explosive one at that, with an even more intense drum base and percussion mix of his hit “broken reprise mix, I couldn’t think of anyone better to complement Da Capo. Other big names on the mix are Monocles and Slezz, who add a more jazzy and smooth touch to the remixes. This compilation mix is for the die-hard deep/ tribal fans and makes for interesting listen if you deviate towards the tribal, drum beat infused in spectacular productions.

I don't for a second doubt that any one can leave that place without a smile,in the centre of the venue are tables and wooden brown chairs, smartly placed for a comfortable stay at Cofi, far end of the room there's a 2nd bar just to keep the vibe going. The dj booth is fashionably placed in the wall which is unique to all clubs I have ever been to. The interior design is amazing if I may say so myself

iPad mini When iPad was introduced, there was nothing quite like it. And there still isn’t. The Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese copy cats can try all they like but perfection is one thing not easily duplicated. This is, this is what happens when performance meets art, when science and technology meet human emotion. This is engineering brilliance, artistic elegance and most importantly its fun. Taken from work, home and school the IPad can do anything and everything you can think of. Wanna cook a meal for you girlfriend this winter but have no idea what to cook? There's an app for that. Wanna type and compile a presentation that impresses the boss and gets you the dream job? There's an app for that. Wanna take a cool pic, edit, post on Twitter and share on Facebook? There's an app for that too. With more than 300,000 apps made just for iPad, there’s almost no end to what you can do. Made from high-quality materials like aluminum and glass, iPad and iPad mini are exquisitely designed. The iPad with Retina display packs 3.1 million pixels into a mere 9.7 inches of screen. Even with its slim design and incredible performance, iPad has an astounding 10-hour battery life, great battery life has been one of the things that makes an iPad an iPad.

Want movies, books, new music, series and studying material? With iPad, all that content is available from one source: Apple. The iTunes Store is the world’s largest and most trusted entertainment store. Every iOS software update downloads straight to iPad, so the latest iOS version is just a tap away. None of that complicated mess visiting your local service provider or getting mixed up between millions of versions of updates you probably don't need. A child could update the software, use the ipad to watch the latest episode of Ben10 and draw cartoons all day, without adult supervision. The ipad mini is essentially all of this, just smaller, lighter, sexier and a whole lot more fun to use. The ipad is a bit too, satalite-dish-like. Holding it up to take pictures feels a bit, chauvinist and boastful. Its a lil too heavy when you have a decent protective cover on which limits its mobility too. The iPad-mini is the best thing since, well, the original iPad, other than that there's no competition. The best, or nothing. The iPad, or nothing. BY: MASHUDU MODAU DEEPMAG.TUMBLR.COM

APP BBM- GOES ANDROID AND IOS
For android and iOS(Apple) users this is the best news EVER!! BBM the BlackBerry produced application for instant messaging will shortly be going on to any and all android and iOS devices. And it will be completely and totally free. "For BlackBerry, messaging and collaboration are inseparable from the mobile experience, and the time is definitely right for BBM to become a multi-platform mobile service," says executive vice-president Andrew Bocking. BBM has lost ground in recent years to WhatsApp, which

It offers multi-person chats, as well as the ability to share photos and voice notes, and engage in BBM groups of up to 30 people.
BBM Features and Benefits
1- BBM allows for real time instant messaging within seconds. You can send up to 2000 characters, and know when your messages are delivered and read.
2- A new feature on the new generation
BBm is a video chat mode which allows you to catch up with you peeps face-to-face. This is however limited to the new BlackBerry z10.
3- A not so old feature is a BBM voice
which allows for people to chat via voice recordings/ voice notes.
4- for a more imediate voice-to-voice
conversation you can now call and speak to your BBM contacts from anywhere in the world for free over wi-fi. To enjoy BBM Voice, you need to have a BlackBerry smartphone with BlackBerry速 Device Software v5 or higher. Then simply update to BBM 7 to get the new feature. At the same time, BlackBerry has announced BBM Channels, a "social engagement platform" in the software that will allow customers to connect with businesses, brands, celebrities and groups. It plans to add support for BBM Channels as well as voice and video chatting for iOS and Android later this year. MODAU73 JUNE 2013 DEEPMAG.TUMBLR.COMBY: MASHUDU

WINTER HUE’S
The vibrant hues of traditional fabrics consist of many fantastic colorful shades and alluring motifs of traditional fabrics. From east to west, they keep on mining the rich culture and heritage of one region after another, experimenting with traditional textiles, combining them with “modern” fabrics then turning them into something more wearable for fashion lovers today. The combination of the lively colors of fabrics that create the gorgeous garments we wear everyday come from an infusion of a great eye and free mind. We have seen many great designers using the texture of colour in the most amazing ways to enhance outfits or their collections. From jackets, pants, skirts , hats and many accessories they are inspired by natural elements such as water to create exotic blue’s to luscious greens and scorching red colored clothing items. It is quite challenging for a designer or for fashionistas to incorporate different fabrics into a collection or their wardrobes because of the structure of the threads or the ability to manipulate the hue’s so they don’t look like a crazy attire. There are so many colours that I haven't even heard of. Which just goes to show there are many elements of colour that the human mind hasn’t even explored yet, or id like to believe so. Take a look at these amazing outfits which were well-crafted in an artistic manner, boasting enchanting and exquisite taste.

In this issue we welcome duo Liquideep as this months fashionistas, these guys are not to be messed with, they boast a number of great hits and hold super stardom locally and internationally . The duo is made up of singer/songwriter/producer Ziyon and DJ/producer Ryzor. With many great awards such as ‘Most Gifted Dance Video from the Channel O Awards and winning the Song of the year for the SAMA’s, these guys are guaranteed a lot of air play due to their fans who adore their music. Since 2010 with the release of their album “Fabrics of the Heart” there success has been amazing, still going strong with their second new album called “Welcome Aboard” it is surely to be a banger amongst other contenders in the house music industry. When it comes to their individual style sense they are totally different from the music they produce together, from what I gather Ziyon likes the more classy looks : ties ,shirts and well fitted blazers and Ryzor is more chilled out with whole jeans sneaks and t-shirt look but obviously as guys they both like different styles which suits them perfectly , which makes the duo more original and less fake because each member know their own style. Liquideep’s rise is certain, with a deep and liquid invasion of the hearts and minds of fans of genuinely soulful music.
