General Information for Swim Lessons

The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers and tight fitting rubber/vinyl pants under swim suits. This rule will be strictly enforced. We take the following COVID precautions to ensure a safe experience for your swimmers. • All instructors wear a face covering throughout the lessons. • Class sizes are smaller to ensure safe distancing between groups and to provide individual attention. • Increased ventilation with expelling vents and limited people allowed on deck.

Infant and Toddler Swim Lessons - Indoor

The StarBabies and StarTots course introduces infants and toddlers to the water in a fun and loving environment. Parents or caregivers are taught the proper techniques to teach their infants and toddlers how to float, submerge, move in the water, and rollover. Classes incorporate songs and activities to meet the swim skill benchmarks. Safety skill benchmarks are designed to educate the parents or caregivers. Face coverings are required for instructor and adults while in the water. Location: Sachs Recreation Ctr Age: 6 months - 3 yrs

Water Aerobics

Deep Water Aqua is a full body workout, a combination of cardio respiratory, muscle conditioning, and interval training. The class is held in the diving well. Participants can increase range of motion using non-impact movements. Flotation devices are provided. Location: Mitchell Pool Age: 18 + Instructor: Staff - TBA

Parent/Child Poolside Yoga

The first hour of this class is run by professional yoga instructors from Chicago Loves Dance. Kids and parents will learn together in this fun family-oriented class. Yoga is wonderful for improving listening skills, building self-esteem, and supporting social and emotional learnings as well as managing stress and relaxation in adolescence.

The last 30 minutes of class will be designated for free time in the sprayground. Please note there will be no access to the main pool during this time. All participants must exit the facility at 10:30am. Registration is per child, parent required to attend.
