From the Chaplain

As another year of Sacramental preparation draws to a close we can look back and give thanks for the many graces that have emanated from our young men. Year 4 students Ben Caruso, Zac Cobucci, Dalton Di Medio, Harry Goodman, Year 6, Michael Rogers, Jaime Andres Marino and Year 7 candidates, Harvey Hooper, Henry Brown, Nick Amon, James Batholomeusz, and Tom Harkin received the Sacrament of Penance for the first time on 27th May, 2010 in the College Chapel. Father Brendan Dillon (an Old Boy of the College), students, and their families gathered for a joyful celebration of the second Rite of Reconciliation. Term 2 saw us move on to preparing for Confirmation. Twenty students and one staff member were Confirmed by Bishop Peter Elliott at St Anthony’s Church, Glen Huntly on 25th July, 2010. Over several weeks the students explored many aspects of their spiritual journey towards a more adult faith. They delved more deeply into their obligation to become men who use the gifts of the Spirit in service for others. We congratulate Year 6 students, Jarrod Hambleton, Joshua Medoro, Benjamin Morgan, Jonathan La Grua, Jaime Andres Marino, Michael Panozzo, Mitchell Riley; Year 7 students, Lucas Brzeski, Daniel Byrden, Sam Boyle, Louis Collins, Conor Khan, Jacob Cobucci, Nicholas Monterosso, Braydon Andrew, Remo Checcucci, Michael Griechen and Year 8 students, Jack McGraw, Darcy White and Kane Mutton, as well as staff member, Emma D’Angelo. We look forward to seeing the fruits of the Spirit at work in our College community as these young people share their gifts with their peers. Classes for First Communion also commenced early in Term 3 with 22 students from Year 4, 6 and 7 involved in the program. Eighteen of the young men received the Sacrament for the first time at St Anthony’s Parish on Sunday, 24th October. Four boys involved in the program are returning to their own parish to receive the Sacrament. We congratulate Benjamin Caruso, Zachary Cobucci, Billy Cooke, Dalton Di Medio, Oliver Edmonds, Harry Goodman, Liam Halloran, Hayden Rideg, Daniel Tompa, from Year 4; Michael Rogers Year 6; and Year 7 students, Jacob Gardiner, Harvey Hooper, Francesco Macri, Henry Brown, Nicholas Amon, Jarryd Grooby, Thomas Harkin and James Bartholomeusz.

Fr Brendan Dillon with students making First Reconciliation A special congratulations and welcome into the Catholic community are extended to James Bartholomeusz (received into the church in June), Jarryd Grooby and Jacob Gardiner (Baptised in October) and to William Wright who was Baptised in November. These young men listened to God’s call within their hearts and made a commitment to after- school preparation over a period of 12 months. Their witness has been both humbling and impressive.
