Who are we? Flying Squirrel Sports is the premier destination for entertainment seekers of all ages! Established in 2015 by two twin brothers dedicated to pioneering both fun and safety, we are the world’s first largest indoor luxury trampoline park. We offer state-of-the-art equipment, world-class customer service, and an experience designed just for you, whether you’re a watchful guardian or rambunctious teenager. We can’t wait for you to come fly with us!
What sets us apart? With the rapid expansion of the trampoline park industry, so too have climbed the number of injuries sustained by patrons when they lose control and land on trampoline pads that overlay the steel frames. As a solution to this problem, we have developed and patented the world’s only shock attenuating trampoline park structure. The design includes trampoline shock absorbing suspension mounts, a connection system with a pivoting horizontal bed rail and a German gas shock system incorporated directly into the trampoline framework was established to fulfill the need in the industry to create a safer trampoline park. We are unwaiveringly dedicated to quality and strive to keep our facilities spotless. At the end of each day, we wipe down every inch of our trampolines with an anti-microbial solution. We also have Air Traffic Controllers on every trampoline court to supervise the soaring action.
What’s in it for me? We understand that parents and teachers are looking for an exciting place to take their children – a place that will inspire kids to break away from their video games, experience the real-life thrill of flying through the air, and get hours of exercise while doing it. Not only is Flying Squirrel a top choice for making lasting memories, but we’re also the top birthday places in the area. Regardless of the age, our indoor trampoline park and fun center are perfect for birthday parties, group events, and field trips.
What’s there to do? Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, there’s something for everyone here. Jump on our free WiFi and relax in our luxurious lounge and massage chairs or take advantage of the fast-paced fun that only a trampoline can provide. Among these activities are Dunk Hoops, where any player can dunk like a pro, Ninja Courses, Climbing walls, Battle Beams, Slack Lines, Parkour Parks, Rope Swings, Foam Pits, Tumble Tracks, Stunt Jump Air Bags, Dodgeball, and Freestyle Courts which takes the traditional fun and elevates it to a sport unlike any other. We also house a delicious cafe in each park to break for lunch or fuel up for another round! With a menu includes pizzas, wraps, and so much more, there is truly something for everyone.
Final thoughts: We promise we will soar to the occasion every time. We specialize in smiles, and our goal is to add you to the list of satisfied family members. Come experience the ultimate adrenaline rush for people of all ages! Reserve your group today! Groups@FlyingSquirrelSports.com

A Field Trip to the
Calgary Corn Maze & Fun Farm A perfect blend of educational components and down to earth farm fun is what makes a day at the Calgary Corn Maze & Fun Farm the “Best Field Trip Ever”. With a whole days worth of great attractions, here are just a few reasons that make this a must-do school outing: 1. Field Trip Programs Planned and Run by Teachers Every child will love the visit to the Calgary Corn Maze given the fun nature of the farm. There is also a lot to learn. In the Spring, students will get hands on planting and learning about corn, visit with baby animals in the barn, uncover hidden keepsake gemstones while using a real functioning sluice, and spend time discovering cool facts about life on the farm. In the Fall, each child will learn about harvest time and what happens to plants, discover the art of picking the perfect pumpkin, and will choose and keep an ornamental pumpkin. Classroom activities and resources are also provided to teachers to complete with their students before and after the field trip, enhancing the learning experience while at the corn maze.
2. Good Ol’ Fashion Award Winning Fun The Calgary Corn Maze is Calgary Child’s Parent Choice Award Winner for Best Family Fun Location, and after only a few minutes on the farm it’s easy to understand why. In addition to learning and discovery, there is an incredible amount of opportunities for kids to be kids, running and exploring the petting farm, zip lines, tractor pulled rides, giant slides, jumping pillows, mini golf, corn mazes, and so much more. It’s fun for all ages (adults too)!
3. A Rural Farm Experience You’ll immediately notice the country charm. Although it’s only 20 minutes from downtown Calgary, the sweeping views of the foothills, and mountains are a real treat. The excitement the kids share upon their first view of the barnyard animals and array of attractions set the tone for the great day ahead. Covered areas for each school group to eat lunch and leave backpacks at make it hassle free to explore the joys of the farm while appreciating the prairie surroundings.
4. A quiet bus ride home The Calgary Corn Maze’s motto is to send every child home “happy, tired, and dirty”, and this is something it accomplishes effortlessly. Although it seems the kids never want to leave, 5 minutes into the bus ride home it is evident how much they enjoyed creating memories that will last a life time.
The Calgary Corn Maze truly is a field trip destination that has school classes grinning from “ear” to “ear”. Alberta Field Trip Directory

Certified instructors offer more hours than most other snow schools, giving every student the attention they need. Easter Seals Camp Horizon Inclusion. It’s a buzzword we’re all familiar with. It has positively impacted policy and perspective from classrooms to little league to government. At its essence, the goal is so good, that everyone would feel included no matter their background, age, race/ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity. The movement toward inclusion is rooted in the value and practice that everyone feels valued. And yet time and again we hear of examples where inclusion is seen as a checkmark on a task list rather than embraced as a full paradigm shift. The former falls short of creating that meaningful impact that reduces the loneliness of feeling or being treated as marginalized. A simple example. School classrooms for some time now have embraced inclusion by ensuring that students of all abilities can share the same learning opportunities and space, the benefit being that the learning that comes from each other is just as valuable as, if not more so than, what’s taught in the curriculum. And yet, in moments when the act of inclusion is the most important, it is seen as too inconvenient and often abandoned. Take for instance a simple overnight field trip, a rite of passage so vital in an age when kids are finding fewer opportunities to connect with nature or each other in an authentic way, free of devices, screens and schedules. And yet the very essence of a field trip means that we leave the security of the classroom and the urban environment adapted with ramps, pavement, accessible washroom stalls, etc. Imagine a grade 6 student who, through inclusion, attends a mainstream school with his peers despite his diagnosis of cerebral palsy and complex needs. He participates in all school activities right alongside his able bodied peers and seamlessly wheels throughout the school environment. He has been included and everyone feels great about this big step in the right direction. Inclusion has ensured that this

boy doesn’t need to be driven across the city to a specialized school and so his peers and classmates are the same kids he sees in his neighborhood every day. It is a win on so many levels. But is he invited to hang out at the park after school? Is he invited to the birthday parties or the sleepovers? Probably not. Not everyone’s home is equipped with ramps and lifts. And understandably so, parents of typical children are likely quite intimidated by the complexities of his disability. He’s been included at school but has he found a place where he truly feels he belongs? Where he doesn’t see himself as the one child who is different and never fully included? The time comes nearer for his classroom to head off on their overnight field trip adventure. A time and place where memories are formed and stories created that will be retold for years and years to come. Friendships are solidified in a way they can’t in the confines of the classroom and a lifetime of bonding happens in a very short space of time. But the host facility isn’t equipped for full accessibility. The trails are rough and uneven. The buildings are old and not outfitted with push-to-open doors, ramp access or lifts. The staff are untrained to deal with transfers and special diets. And so the simple conclusion is that he will be left behind. The school’s tradition of attending the same facility for field trips supersedes the movement towards inclusion. How could they possibly change this tradition now? The class will go ahead without him. He’ll be “included” in another classroom to carry on his learning while his classmates are away. He won’t know what he’s missing. But upon their return there will be an obvious sense of what he has missed and just how deep the bonding that has occurred within his classmates. For a child who is already on the fringes, he’ll now be further isolated by enduring inside jokes, stories finished with “you should’ve been there!” and a vacuum where the richness of that experience with his “peers” would have filled. A brave smile will appear where loneliness and isolation take hold. What if the school had found an accessible setting for their field trip rather than opting for the “easy” route. They do exist you know…incredible facilities where every ounce of effort has been made to ensure that No One misses
out. What if they had even gone part way by reaching out to some experts for advice and adaptive equipment; there are entire industries designed around planning and creating accessibility. What if they had recognized that in moments like these, inclusion really matters? Would it have been easy? No, not really. But would it have been worth it? You better believe it. The outdoor school experience would have been transformative, not only to that one student but to everyone involved. It would have taught them that inclusion isn’t just for when it’s convenient but for always. When faced with the trail down to the waterfront with the bumps and roots, they’d work together as a team to get their classmate there. And when faced with the challenge of how to all get across the lake, they’d learn about the physics of the outriggers on the specialized canoe and witness the joy on their classmate’s face as he experienced canoeing for the first time in his life. This young man would for once in his life be the centre of attention in a positive way. He’d represent the goal and the puzzle – the ultimate objective of team work. Working together to ensure that no one was left out – could there be a truer lesson in empathy, compassion and caring? All the skills today’s young people are lacking as their focus becomes more and more narcissistic and drawn into their screens and devices. Forced to think not of themselves, but of someone else, someone less fortunate, would be a greater lesson than any curriculum directed outcome. And our young man? He’d be on top of the moon. Experiencing the simple joy of a sleepover with his peers, the feeling of hanging out after school, the feeling of being invited in the party. The feeling of simply being a kid who belongs. And maybe, just maybe a classmate would realize that including him wasn’t so tough and would think twice before passing him over. And isn’t that the ultimate goal? Not to check off a box to say that our programs are “inclusive” but to ensure that every child feels that they belong and to give them a platform to thrive.

Deploy Your Next Field Trip to the Museums Where else in Alberta can you learn about places, people, and events surrounded by real Canadian Forces tanks and fighter jets? Our interactive programs bring curriculum to life while teaching students about Canada’s history. We make history fun while giving students a glimpse into the life of a soldier and the events that shaped Canada as a nation. Our education packages contain two to three programs comprised of presentations, tours and art activities. Each package covers key curriculum points in relation to each grade level. Programs are adapted to new upcoming Alberta curriculum. New programs for 2018-2019 include the Centennial of the 1918 Armistice and Remembrance, Buoyancy and Flight, War of 1812, Indigenous Veterans, Peacekeeping and Afghanistan. All education programs are taught by education interpreters with the Military Museums Foundation, a non-profit educational organization which brings Canadian heritage to life.

Gymnastics for All! Unique and Exciting! Most students would say that the best field trips are about having fun, while most teachers feel that field trips should be about education.
So where is the happy medium? Here at Ortona, we combine fun games, activities and gymnastics circuits to create a field trip that is not only engaging and exciting but also physically challenging and educational for every grade level. We offer field trips year-round for all grades and for students of all abilities including special needs. Three different field trips teachers can book: • Discover • Explore • Learn • Curriculum and Exploring • Sports Specific Program Ortona Gymnastics Club is a not-for-profit, independent sports organization that was formally incorporated in 1976. As one of the oldest gymnastics clubs in Edmonton with roots stretching back to 1972, Ortona has a long history of community involvement, athlete development and child/youth sport activity and movement. Ortona is very proud of its legacy in the Edmonton community. We look forward to your participation in gymnastics at our club.
Why choose gymnastics? Gymnastics is one of the three foundation sports decreed by the International Olympic Committee; and is the ultimate human movement experience. Everyone can find something meaningful and beneficial in the sport, regardless of your age, your ability, or goals. It promotes self-esteem, self-discipline, and forms the healthy foundation for an active lifestyle. You are never too young — or too old — to gain something positive from the sport of gymnastics at Ortona.
Book your field trip today.
What you need to provide: • Schools and groups are responsible for the transportation of their students to and from our facility; • Each participant’s guardian is required to provide a completed waiver; • Teacher and parent volunteers welcome with completed waiver.
Ortona provides the instructors, physical activity, and fun!
Full-day sport field trips We also can book an entire day at our facility with a variety of sports in the Saville Community Sport Centre with our sport partners. The award-winning Kids-in-the-Garden environmental education programs engage students in Grades K-12 with hands-on, interactive outdoor activities. In half- or full-day curriculum-based field trips, students might hike natural forests and wetlands, catch an insect or a frog, hug a tree, or become a pollinating bee. All will deepen their connections to the natural world, led by the Garden’s trained interpreters. Kids-in-the-Garden field trips introduce and reinforce the message that outside is awesome, mud is delightful, and plants are really cool. We know our job is done when a child can hold a leech and think it’s lovely, or Build-a-Bud with their classmates and learn, through play, the parts of a flower. Our objective is to instill in children a joyful appreciation of the natural world, through positive interaction and age-appropriate, authentic programming. Field trips have been offered at the U of A Botanic Garden for more than 27 years. The 240-acre “garden in a forest”, complete with walking trails, wetlands, indoor showhouses, butterfly house, Japanese Garden and the stunning new Aga Khan Garden, provides the perfect setting for students to discover their world. FIELD TRIPS ARE AVAILABLE MAY THROUGH OCTOBER.
