Planning a School Ski & Snowboard Trip has never been easier! Here at Holiday, we strive to keep things as simple as possible for busy teachers. • Pick a date, any date. We’ll find a place for you. • Adults can Ski too! The Resort offers 1 complimentary supervisor lift & rental package for every 10 students. Additional adults are offered the student price. • Need a bus? Let us help! Ask our Office Team, we’ll make the Bus Booking for you. That’s it. Just show up and let us do the rest. Upon Arrival your group will be greeted by a member of the Snow School and given a short safety briefing on the bus. You will then be taken to a designated area where you can store your belongings, eat, and gather. Students are then led as a group into the rental shop. A short rental form is filled out with the student’s name, height & weight. Lift tickets are then applied to the student’s jackets, boots are fitted, skis & snowboards are set and helmets are sized. Members of our Snow School Team will be on hand to assist with all these steps. Once ready to go, these budding young athletes are sent right to the Bunny Hill! Never – Evers go immediately into a lesson. Self-proclaimed “Pros” head up the Carpet Lift to show off their skills to our Nationally-Certified Instructors. Their Helmets will be marking accordingly and them it’s off to the big hills! Beginner = Green Circle. Intermediate = Blue Square. Advanced = Black Diamond. Orange Pill = Expert, Terrain Park Features. These markings correspond with the run ratings. Students are required to stay on only the runs that they are rated for. This ensures that they do not attempt to navigate a run that is beyond their current ability level. Upgrade Lessons are available at 11:30, 1:00 & 2:00 daily. At the end of the day, we simply ask that the Students drop off their equipment in the rental shop. That’s it, we’ll do the rest. When the kids fall in love with our Favorite Sports – we’ve got them covered. Every student who visits on a school trip is eligible for a Season Pass for only $20! That’s unlimited Skiing & Snowboarding for the rest of the winter. Holiday Mountain is fully compliant with all the guidelines and recommendations set out by the Manitoba School boards in their Planning Ski and Snowboard Education Programs Guide.

Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park

A historical site that offers a different experience – an exciting and fun way to explore the parts of the curriculum relating to Upper Fort Garry in Winnipeg.

Hudson's Bay Company's Upper Fort Garry was the site of commerce, conflict, history, heroism, culture, military might and the Red River colony's social centre. Here our ancestors rallied, claimed our place as a province thus leading the west into Confederation and defining our nation, Canada. The Triumphs of UFG are our past and a window to our future. Today. UFG is equal parts imagination, illumination and entertainment. The site transcends discovering facts through technology based interpretative approaches to learning. Using the free CanNect app, (see www.upperfortgarry.com) you can access both text and verbal information on fort buildings as well as the icons on the ribbon of history on the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Heritage Wall with its sound and light shows. CanNect is available in 11 languages – English, French, Ojibwa, Cree, German,Ukrainian, Ukrainian, Japanese, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog and Arabic. FARM & FOOD DISCOVERY CENTRE

makes for an ideal field trip

Located 15 minutes south of Winnipeg on Highway 75, the Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre takes students on an exploration of modern farming and food production. Interactive exhibits lead from the farmer’s field and the livestock barn to the food processor and the kitchen. Students delve into Manitoba crops and soils, and learn about the factors that influence crop production – from insects to weather and climate. A highlight of the Centre is the viewing windows into breeding, gestation, birthing and nursery rooms of the hog barn. Contemporary animal care and production practices are highlighted through a variety of interactive exhibits including FarmFood360 Virtual Reality farm tours. While visiting our new dairy facility featuring robotic milkers, students learn about milking cows and follow the steps our milk takes to get to the store. Food processing, food safety and human nutrition are explored in the demonstration kitchen to complete the food production journey. Educators can select from 11 curriculum-focused programs, including the popular Great Grain Exchange, Science of Spuds, Discovering Dairy, and the ecology-themed This is Our Planet program. Our newest program is Pizza Farm, where students make their own lunch and follow the path of pizza from farm to plate. The hands-on activities bring learning to life, and connect curricular themes in social studies, science, geography, health and nutrition to the food we eat. Located at the Glenlea Research Station, the Centre also showcases the latest research by the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. Hours of operation: Tuesday – Saturday - 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (February to mid-December). Contact Centre staff at 204-883-2524 or visit www.ffdc.ca for admission costs and more information.

MATINÉES SCOLAIRES 2019-2020

7e-12e

Inspire Your Students at the WAG The Winnipeg Art Gallery is dedicated to offering school programs that support the Manitoba curriculum. This school year is an exciting time to bring students to the WAG! Opening in September, Kent Monkman’s Shame & Prejudice was created as a response to Canada 150 celebrations. Monkman’s work has strong connections to historical topics, be it European art history or Canada’s Colonial past. Because of mature content, this tour is recommended for grades 10-12. The artwork of Canadian photographer, John Paskievich is also on display, presenting 100 black-and-white photographs of Winnipeg’s North End from the 1970’s-2010’s.

Taking Care will be opening in the fall and will explore what it means to care about the environment, ourselves, and others. This tour examines the art in Taking Care with hands on interactives and explores ideas of care and community. The WAG also offers a variety of artmaking workshops to complement the artwork on view in the galleries. Plus, there are workshops for teachers too! Check out the great professional development opportunities this school year. Join us for the free teacher sneak peeks so you can see the new exhibits before you bring your class. WORKSHOPS

Our workshops are fun and hands-on STEM sessions designed to be brought right in to school classes or community centres. Each workshop links to the K-12 Manitoba science curriculum, and is delivered by a university student studying in a STEM or educationrelated field. LaserTopia

C

ome see LaserTopia’s newly expanded entertainment facility with over 13,000 square feet of FUN! Visit our arcade area which has over 40 fun and exciting games to choose from. Come and enjoy the only laser tag facility in Winnipeg that offers over 4,500 square feet – on two levels! It’s so much fun, and we run games every 15 minutes. We can accommodate groups from 10 to 250 people. LaserTopia has been host to hundreds of school groups, and once they’ve played here, they can’t wait to return. If you’re looking for an outing with your classmates, or having your graduation, look no further. We offer it all at LaserTopia! When you bring your class to LaserTopia, teachers play for free! Teachers, don’t forget: this place is not just for kids – many faculty come to play and really enjoy themselves. You don’t need to know how to play. We have a really cool briefing room where you watch a fun two-minute video explaining the rules of the game and the equipment you will play with. We also have game marshals to assure a fun, safe environment, so you can leave the kids behind and come play with your colleagues if you like. Call us to book an event. We will even open our doors early, providing you have at least 20 people playing laser tag.
