The McMaster Museum of Art combines experiential learning with art-based education Programs are subject to availability due to demand, but are all free! Available programs include:

Introduction to Decolonial Museums, Indigenous Art and Connection to Land, Pattern: Math and Art Combine, Digital Collage & Design, Printmaking, Map Making and Art, Identity & Art, Logo Design ...and many more!

We invite educators to collaborate with us to build a unique in-person or virtual program.

Imagine, play & create with us on a pirate ship while sailing the high seas. Adventure on our Pirate ships, fire the water cannons, and haul up the loot! Your sailors will be fitted with new pirate names and pirate tattoos, prepared to fit in with our crew. They will learn sea shanties, watch sword fights, and complete challenges to become true pirates. Best of all, each of them will earn their first piece of pirate gold aboard our ship!

Pirate Life offers a unique field trip experience where students can actively engage in our immersive programming. Our crew will lead the group through stories, games, and activities that will inspire creativity and imagination. We are a production of Art & Water Cultural Group, a registered charitable organization. Our mission is to create exciting and accessible theatre experiences for children across Ontario, nurturing lifelong patrons of the arts. Give your students the opportunity to experience an unforgettable show like no other!

Pirate Life also offers traveling shows! We’ll bring our 20-foot ship-on-wheels to your school or camp, for a hilarious and exhilarating theatre experience. For a full hour, your group will be immersed in a pirate adventure, right in your backyard. This is the perfect opportunity for groups who prefer not to travel.

It doesn’t end there, we can offer you all kinds of other programs to suit your students’ needs! Our ship hosts escape rooms, sunset cruises, and concerts that we would love to put on for you. Pirate Life Theatre has programs for children ranging from 18 months to 99 years+, and group pricing that fits any organization’s budget.

STUDY GUIDE

Many shows in our season o er study guides that help you and your students get the most out of your theatre experience.

WORKSHOPS

Enhance your experience of the production by participating in a workshop led by experienced Artist Educators.

Q&A WITH THE CAST

Bringing a Student Group to the Theatre?

THEATRE TOURS

Our guided tours let your students explore the rich history, unique character, and hidden stories of these landmark theatres that have been instrumental in shaping Toronto’s Entertainment District.

Nothing excites our students more than the chance to speak with members of the cast & crew following a performance.

*Backstage not included.

CHORAL

PERFORMANCE

Choral performance groups have an opportunity to showcase their talent in one of our spectacular theatre lobby or lounge spaces before the show.

I would be very happy to book again with Mirvish Production in the future, and I would highly recommend not only your shows, but also your workshops and tours to other teachers and school groups who are looking for a full and enriching arts experience. We are so lucky to live in this city and have access to such a high level of world-class theatrical culture.

Niagara Parks Power Station

A LANDMARK ATTRACTION

From the most towering turbine to the tiniest detail, uncover captivating stories hidden within one of the world’s first hydroelectric power stations. Step inside the 115-year-old engineering marvel and explore interactive exhibits and captivating stories from the archives. Then dig deep and explore The Tunnel, with a new panoramic view of Niagara Falls

AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

Take learning beyond the classroom and offer your students the opportunity to explore the wonders of Niagara’s cathedral of power!

For 100 years, the Niagara Parks Power Station used the powerful energy of the Horseshoe Falls and turned it into a great source of electricity. Today, visitors can dive into the fascinating world of power generation while exploring the revolutionary work of inventors like Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse.

This immersive experience includes a bilingual audio tour, multimedia storytelling and interactive exhibits, including a larger-than-life Tesla Coil, an enormous scale model of the plant and a restored control panel.

In the Tunnel, your students will descend 180 feet underground and learn how water was expelled back into the Niagara River, at the base of the Horseshoe Falls. Along the 2,200-foot-long path, they can explore more fascinating stories about this incredible feat of engineering as they make their way to an observation deck at the river’s edge for a breathtaking panoramic view of the spectacular Falls.

Treat your students to an eye-opening STEM lesson inside one of the world’s first hydropower generating stations!

Outdoor education offers endless benefits Step into Nature’s Classroom!

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) offers curriculum-linked and recreational outdoor adventure programming for elementary and secondary students at conservation areas across the Niagara Peninsula Watershed (Niagara region, parts of Hamilton and Haldimand).

Step into nature with your class or group at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area (Lincoln) or Binbrook Conservation Area (Hamilton) for hands-on environmental education designed by OCT-certified educators.

These programs explore themes such as biodiversity, history and heritage, water and air quality, and environmental science. Looking for adventure? There are also activities such as archery and orienteering.

Benefits of learning within nature:

Whether in a play-based, childled, or structured setting, outdoor learning is beneficial to childhood development. When kids spend time outdoors, they are encouraged to use their imagination and engage with the natural world. Immersive outdoor learning and play empowers them to explore places like forests, creeks, and meadows, and discover habitats and the animals that call them home.

Students learn resiliency and adaptability when they prepare to spend time in nature and consider the impacts and implications of changing weather and terrain conditions.

With an endless list of benefits, it is important for teachers and schools in traditional settings to incorporate, support, and fund outdoor learning, especially in urban areas with limited access to nature.

It is equally important that parents and caregivers explore new ways of incorporating outdoor learning, through daily activities within family or after-school groups, or by enrolling children in nature school, day camps or outdoor learning programs.

Learn more about NPCA’s educational programs at npca.ca/learning. Follow @NPCA_Ontario.

IMMERSE YOUR STUDENTS IN A NEW AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Using challenges found in the outdoors as natural teaching tools, Outward Bound Canada helps bring your curriculum to life, no matter the subject!

Operating in Canada since 1969, our adventures empower students (ages 12-29) to master life skills for success - and bring a sense of community to your classroom that will amaze you. We also provide financial assistance and lend gear to ensure that as many youth as possible are able to access and enjoy our programs.

We operate year-round at our Toronto Don Valley Brickworks Park location, and we can facilitate programming in local park or conservation areas like Rattlesnake Point and Christie Lake to meet YOU where you are.

We also offer year-round programming for Schools and Groups at our facility in Minden, ON.

Field trip coordination can be overwhelming - so let us take that on! We can create a custom curriculum-linked program depending on your needs, or show you our popularlybooked options. Single-day to 10-day excursions with overnights are available.

And, our risk management team is well-regarded within the industry so you can feel confident about your group’s experience. Lastly, our post-program report will clearly demonstrate the impact our nature-based experiential programs.
