Stone Hall Castle

Educational School Tours! It is our goal at Stone Hall Castle to open our doors and allow students and teachers a chance to delve into the deep-routed history that has been meticulously hand picked and created in the heart of Regina. We wish to offer informative educational tours, that are guaranteed to provide stimulating opportunities for learning outside the classroom. Not only is Stone Hall a one-of-a-kind exhibit in craftsmanship, architecture, antiquities, and art from the rich past of renaissance Europe, it also allows a look into the past history of Regina and how the castle came to be.

By booking a private tour for your class, you have the ability to have a consultation with Mr. Hall prior to your visit to discus and plan the specific learning objectives you wish your class to take away from the experience, whether it be an over all in-depth tour, to specialized tours in antiquities and renaissance furniture and purposes, to concentrating on the private art collection within the castle walls. Tours can be arranged Monday through Friday, allowing students a chance to watch history come to life as they are guided by Mr. Hall in an interactive, firstclass tour into the beauty and depths of history. We would like to offer all students and teachers $10.00 admittance, 50% off rate from regular tours pricing.

Choose the Saskatchewan Science Centre for your field trip this year!

F

ield trips can enhance and expand upon the materials that you are teaching in class, but there are only so many opportunities to get outside of the classroom during the school year. When you do choose a location for a field trip, you want to make the most of it.

use the scavenger hunts or activity sheets available on our website to help their fun time be productive. This time could also include watching one of our hourly stage show demonstrations on topics including cryogenics, gravity, air pressure, animals, and even fire!

Choosing the Saskatchewan Science Centre for your field trip is one of the best ways to do that. With more than 180 hands-on exhibits to explore, a large variety of workshops to take part in, and educational IMAX films, it’s easy to tie your lesson plan into a fun and productive field trip.

Enjoy lunch on site at noon, which can be eaten out in beautiful Wascana Park if the weather permits. Then, at 1:00, watch an IMAX documentary on our five story screen with intense 3D images and more than 10,000 watts of surround sound to keep your students glued to their seats. By 1:45, you’re back on the way to your bus and back to school with plenty of time to spare.

Each of our workshops is designed for a specific grade level to work with the curriculum that you are teaching in your class. Information about inquiry learning activities is provided so that you can plan lessons around the things your students experience at the Science Centre, and the visiting exhibitions and IMAX films are presented with Educator Guides to help take the load off of planning pre and post field trip activities. Start the day right at 9:45! A quick check-in, and by 10:00 one of our science educators is taking your class to their workshop location. Maybe it’s Star Trip – where our inflatable digital planetarium takes students on a visual journey out into the universe – followed by some exploration time on the exhibit floor! Promote inquiry learning and

Of course, that’s just one way to experience the Science Centre with your class! Whether you would like a full-day or half-day experience, we can help you plan it. Our full list of workshops, IMAX films, and teacher resources are available on our website, and as part of our Beyond the Classroom Teacher Planning Guide. If you’re too far away from Regina to visit us, let us come to you with our Go! Science Outreach team. A full day of programming can be brought right to your school, with hands-on, grade-appropriate workshops and stage shows that can bring your whole school together for some exciting science demonstrations!

Get beyond the classroom this year and ignite the scientific curiosity of your class at the Saskatchewan Science Centre! Real science. Real fun. Visit sasksciencecentre.com for more information.

Tunnels of Moose Jaw At the Tunnels of Moose Jaw, we aim to engage our guests with both facts and fun all rolled into one dynamic presentation. We offer two separate theatrically guided experiences:

• The Passage to Fortune tells the story of the Chinese immigrants’ journey into Canada in the late 1800s. The students learn about the Head Tax, the Chinese Immigration Act and how these brave men helped build the CPR. It deals with their ultimate survival despite racism and hatred they suffered on a daily basis. • The Chicago Connection offers a glimpse into the days of prohibition, bootlegging and gangsters in the 1920s right here in Moose Jaw. Moose Jaw at the time was rife with political corruption and bad behavior by many in power. The students learn about their country’s history and the way things were in the Roaring Twenties. We offer packages to all teachers so their students can learn about Canadian history in a unique and memorable way. It’s a great way to supplement what is being taught in your classrooms.

Educational & memorable learning experiences for your students!

I

t’s time to get your students curious about the world around them. It’s time to get your students engaged in learning. It’s time to get involved with Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC-SK). At AITC-SK we collaborate with the province’s agriculture and education communities to provide teachers with free programs and resources that meet curriculum outcomes. Exploring agriculture provides a unique opportunity for your students to learn concepts in science, social studies and health in a fun and engaging way. Everyone is connected to agriculture, because everyone eats food. We use this personal connection to get students excited to learn about how farmers produce safe and healthy food right in our province. With out-of-school programs for students of all ages, here is how we are creating memorable experiences.

Elementary Students

Students can get their hands dirty while learning about agriculture at one of our many out-of-school programs! There are opportunities all across Saskatchewan for you to take your students to a food farm or we will bring agriculture to the city where students will learn about what plants need to grow, see farm animals up close, and participate in interactive stations.

Middle Years Students

Engage students in interactive sessions hosted by today’s leaders in the fields of science and technology, or professionals of a specific agricultural career field. Students will be inspired by the conversations they have with these experts.

High School Students

Give students the ability to get creative, innovative, and competitive as they build on a variety of different skills, from presentation to marketing to cooking skills. There are opportunities for students to explore many of the career opportunities related to agriculture and food.

In-School Programs

Can’t get out of the classroom but love the idea of a guest speaker and engaging activities? We offer a number of in-school programs! From growing your very own garden in your classroom, to one of our staff delivering a presentation where students grind wheat to make pizza, explore world food sustainability, or learn about various agricultural career paths, there is an in-school program for everyone.

Educational Resources

We want to make learning fun. That is why we have free educational resources for teachers to access that will help supplement your classroom teachings while reaching curriculum outcomes. Our resources range from full lesson plans, learning kits and smart board activities to books, videos, and more promoting inquiry-based learning. French resources also available!

Registration & Ordering

Program spots are limited and fill up fast! Don’t miss registration information, sign up for our monthly Educator e-Newsletter on our website, or follow us on social media! To order free resources for your classroom, visit Educational Resources on our website and search by grade or subject.

It begins with the ancient fishes, progresses through the early amphibians to the great reptiles and ends in the modern world where fishes rule the sea, birds the air and mammals the land. The evolution of animals depended on the evolution of plants from ancient ferny forests, through stands of conifers and cycads, to the diverse flowering plants of today. The evolution of both plants and animals in turn depended on Earth’s geology, how the continents shifted and how the climate changed. WASKESIU MARINA ADVENTURE CENTRE LARGE GROUP ACTIVITY

VOYAGEUR CANOE

We can accommodate any size group, large or small. Our school program is ideal for groups up to 30. Each group of 10 students rotate through three one-hour, water-based activities with emphasis on enjoying the lakes and having fun. These activities are based at the Hanging Heart Lakes Marina.

With our guide in the stern of the canoe, paddle along the lake, listen to the sound of your paddle as it cuts through the water, and hear about the history of the voyageur canoe, as it was used in the days of the fur trade.

GUIDED KAYAKING Join our guide on a paddle around the 1st Hanging Heart Lake. Enjoy the beauty of the lake above and below the water. CAUTION...YOU WILL GET WET!

PONTOON BOAT TOUR Travel aboard one of our four pontoon boats as we take you through the 1st and 2nd Hanging Heart Lakes. Opportunities are there to catch a glimpse of nature in action.

For information on how we can customize your unique group experience, phone or visit our website.

School groups receive discounted rates for all activities. Saskatchewan School Destinations
