Home delivery of mail to cease

Like it or not, all Delta residents now receiving mail delivery at their homes will have to start going to community mailboxes.

That new reality was delivered by a pair of Canada Post officials to council on Monday during a presentation on the agency’s plan to eliminate all home delivery service, although a date hasn’t been set for the withdrawal of service
for Delta. “We know changing from doorto-door to community mailboxes represents a significant change for residents who have not had it before. “We also understand what
neighbourhoods are to residents. We’re confident we can implement this transition in a thoughtful and effective way,” said Jeremy Cotton, manager of municipal engagement and government affairs for Canada Post.
Delta has about 39,000 addresses with approximately 28,000 getting mail delivery at the door. Canada Post announced in December it would be phasing out door-to-door delivery of regular See MAIL page 3
