Child porn charges for counsellor
American authorities arrest Delta school district employee after images and videos found at Point Roberts home BY

A Delta school counsellor has been arrested and charged with possession of child porn. According to reports, U.S. officers searched the Point Roberts home of William Brook last week, allegedly finding 334 images and videos, which included young children being sexually assaulted. It’s believed none of the images
discovered so far involved Delta students. According to the Seattle P.I., federal prosecutors contend Brook downloaded hundreds of images and videos at his home. U.S. Homeland Security agents received a tip last month that he had been buying child porn online. Agents stopped his car last Wednesday as he attempted to cross the border and return home
to Point Roberts. They seized his school district-issued computer he had in his possession, but illegal images were not found on that computer. Brook was arrested after the search and taken into custody where he remains. He appeared before a judge at U.S. District Court in Seattle on Monday and is scheduled to appear again later this week. Learning of the allegations last
week, the Delta school district would not say the schools Brook worked or age of the students he counselled. An investigation is taking place to see if he was involved in any criminal activity here, but he doesn’t appear to have a criminal history in Canada. Noting Brook worked as a psychologist, a school board spokesperson said, “We want to ensure our parents and school

communities that student safety is our top priority and we take these incidents very seriously.” As of Monday, the district hadn’t said whether parents of students who met with Brook would be notified. In a separate case five years ago, a senior municipal official was charged and later pleaded guilty to possessing many pornographic images and videos of young children.

An attractive addition that will become a new meeting space for students as well as the community is planned for South Delta Secondary. During the high school’s 40th anniversary celebration last Saturday, representatives from the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen were at the campus to introduce their newest community project, a functional outdoor amphitheatre to be created at the southwest entrance of the school. Called the Heart of Tsawwassen Amphitheatre, the endeavour is a partnership with the Delta school district. According to Rotary, a perfect opportunity to create an outdoor meeting space presents itself as the school is already undergoing a $10-million seismic upgrade. See SDSS page 3
