Both the Tsawwassen First Nation and the Corporation of Delta have submitted expressions of interest to host a gaming facility, the B.C. Lottery Corporation announced
Monday. BCLC had asked three local governments south of the Fraser River to declare by last Friday if they were interested. The City of Surrey was the only one to decline. BCLC’s evaluation team will now review and assess these
submissions based on a number of factors, said spokesperson Angela Law in an email to the Optimist. Factors include population trends, existing community policies, plans or zoning that permit or restrict gaming, and estimated revenue potential. She said BCLC would take the

“necessary time” to complete its assessment and announce a decision. “Next, together with our gaming facility operator (service provider), BCLC will submit a development proposal to the preferred local government, subject to review by the planning
