FROM THE “DD”
Reflections of 2019 A
s 2019 comes to an end, I’d like to reflect on all that’s been accomplished this year.
1. Growth - We shared our brotherhood with more than 5,100 undergraduates this fall at 116 chapters and colonies throughout North America. 2. We made the transition from 314 Church Street to 3845 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis. The space is wonderful and will house our first ever Delta Chi Museum. Our Grand Opening will be Friday March 20, 2020. Please join us. 3. We welcomed Jerod Breit as Executive Director & CEO, Aaron Wilson as Associate Executive Director & COO, Heather Lockwood as Senior Director of Field Operations, and saw several other important roles filled by outstanding individuals. 4. Your fraternity was recognized for having THE BEST Associate Member education program at the Association of Fraternity Advisors Annual Meeting. The program provides wonderful training and education for our AM’s while still allowing chapters to include their local history and content. We started volunteer training at our RLCs and look forward to more alumni members going through this to better prepare them for advising roles. In addition, I am very excited to see the first combined RLC for regions V and VI coming up this winter. 5. New Colonies - Growth is important and I am delighted to share with you that Delta Chi established a new colony at the University of Nebraska Omaha, University of Denver, and Towson University. Delta Chi re-established new colonies at West Virginia University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and will return to the University of Florida in 2020. In the spring, Delta Chi will return to Creighton University, Washington University in St. Louis, and San Diego State University. 6. Alumni Chapters – We welcomed the Chicago Area, Memphis, Monongahela Valley and Philadelphia Area alumni chapters this year. 7. Strategic Plan - After several years of working on our Strategic Initiatives, we have completed several and have the opportunity to
begin creating new ones shortly. This is a major accomplishment for the IHQ staff and Board of Regents. 8. Barrister Capital Corporation - BCC expanded to 10 properties on nine campuses in four states and now own four of those properties, master leases for three and manage the other properties on behalf of their local housing corporations. These include Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Missouri, Missouri State, Central Missouri, Marquette, Oshkosh and Miami. BCC continues to expand its management support for local housing corporations like Miami and Marquette. The Central Missouri property was acquired summer 2019 and after extensive remodeling, it is a crowning example of how a chapter, local alumni, and Barrister can collaborate to achieve a major housing objective. Talk to Jeff Broderick to see if BCC can help you. 9. New and Expanded House - Construction began to double the size of the chapter house at Miami University in Ohio, with a dedication planned in 2020. 10. Anniversaries - The following chapters celebrated milestone anniversaries: Denison (50), Duquesne (25), George Mason (10), Massachusetts (50), Oshkosh (50), and Tri-State (50). 11. We are pleased to announce a partnership with Firsthand to provide members access to the Fraternity’s new engagement platform, the Delta Chi Mentorship Network. Any member who is interested can visit deltachi.firsthand.co. This program is available for all members and will offer new opportunities for mentoring in a variety of topics spanning four main categories: career development, academics, admissions, and organizational leadership. The Delta Chi Mentorship Network will also provide users access to webinars on a wide variety of topics and an online job board as well as help with lining up mock interviews. Clearly much has been done and there is still much to do. We, however, cannot do it without you. We need your help. For alumni, join an ABT, run for “BB”, or mentor an undergraduate member. For undergraduates, make sure your chapter has a budget and understands the importance of paying its bills. Make sure your chapter understands the dangers of alcohol abuse, which can lead to increased insurance rates. Emphasize Delta Chi’s zero-tolerance policy with hazing. And remember, every chapter is precious. I want to thank you for allowing me to serve as the “DD”. It has been a sincere pleasure. When I started, I mistakenly thought I would only be focused on finances. I’ve since been dedicated to new growth, returning to schools we were at previously, and retention of our current chapters. Look for more on these things from me in the coming year. Lastly, I am proud of our chapters and colonies. You do amazing things. In the Bond,
Ronald Martin, 47th “DD” New Haven ’87 Life Loyal

GET TO KNOW THE IHQ STAFF
James Ratliff
John Charles McGeary
“Under promise and overdeliver.” ~ Unknown
“ Success isn’t owned. It’s leased and rent is due every day.” ~ J.J. Watt
BACKGROUND
BACKGROUND
James Ratliff was born west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Indiana University and earned his degree in Public Financial Management with a Business Foundation Certificate. While at IU, he joined the Lambda Chi Alpha Chapter as a first-year student, eventually serving as a recruitment leader.
John Charles McGeary, Colorado State ’18, grew up in Blaine, Minnesota. John Charles loved sports and was a wrestler throughout high school. Upon moving to Colorado, where he attended Colorado State University and studied Economics, he sought that same brotherhood and camaraderie that sports provided him growing up. This led him to become a Founding Father of the Colorado State Colony.
Director of Finance
Upon graduation, Ratliff served as the Accounts Receivable Manager and eventual Associate Director of Business Affairs for the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity Headquarters. He’d go on to work as a Staff Accountant for Badger Daylighting, a hydrovac, hydro-excavation, potholing, and vacuum truck services company. While there, he managed AR analysis, inventory and account reconciliations, employee expenses, and assisted with month-end review and financials. Ratliff joined the Delta Chi Fraternity IHQ staff in July 2019. “The Director of Finance position with Delta Chi is a position I desired within an organization I think very highly of, Ratliff said. “I believe my talents and knowledge serve the organization well and I look forward to helping the Fraternity preserve and advance its strong financial position.” His role in Delta Chi to lead the billing and collections from chapters and colonies, facilitate transactions for our investment and housing committees, produce financials, and provide insight and leadership on financial matters related to the Fraternity. “I encourage chapters to reach out to me for help on how much to bill members and Associate Members, budgeting, and how to navigate difficult situations on collecting from members.” When he is not working, Ratliff is an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers and Indiana University Hoosiers. He also has an interest in video gaming.

Delta Chi Quarterly
Membership Coordinator
While an active member of the Colony, he served as AMC, “E”, and Greek Week Chair. He also had the opportunity to be a delegate at the 2016 Convention and attend a Regional Leadership Conference. These experiences led him to start thinking about a career with Delta Chi. Ultimately, his passion and some influence from alumni convinced him to apply to be a Leadership Consultant. As a Leadership Consultant, he served on the recruitment team at Virginia Tech and assisted in the revitalization project at Colorado State. He also coached over 40 additional chapters. John Charles’ favorite aspect of the job was coaching groups and seeing their growth and progress through the semester and full academic year. Brother McGeary now serves as the Fraternity’s Membership Coordinator, where he assists chapters in enrolling their members and with chapter billing. He also analyzes membership trends to assist chapter coaches in providing the most efficient resources to chapters.
UPDATE
New International Headquarters
The Changing Face of IHQ In July 2019, Executive Director and CEO Jerod Breit announced that the Fraternity had purchased a property located at 3845 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. The property was to become the next International Headquarters (IHQ) for the Delta Chi Fraternity, ending a 50-year tenure at 314 Church Street in Iowa City. The new space provides staff with over 10,000 square feet of office space, roughly triple the amount of the previous building. “Our new home is spacious, conveniently located, and will house our first museum showcasing our memorabilia and artifacts highlighting our history and pride in Delta Chi,” Breit said of the new location. “A destination for our undergraduate members and alumni to travel to or stop by is important to us, and this location allows for that. I am proud that our new home will be available to all who wish to see it.” After closing on the property and beginning the relocation process in August 2019, the IHQ staff has gone through months of unpacking more than six hundred boxes, organizing, and curating our museum and history. Simultaneously, operations continued with substantial progress made in growth and retention of our members. The grand opening and ribbon cutting is slated for March 2020 and the staff at Delta Chi are proud of the strides made in transforming 3845 North Meridian Street into not just a functioning headquarters, but an aesthetically impressive and pleasing environment for harboring processes that will drive the future of Delta Chi and become a destination for our membership.

DELTA CHI
Campus Scene Alaska Colony | Keon O’Brien
Central Missouri | Zachary Hogan
During our first formal recruitment and the first IFC-organized formal recruitment between fraternities, thanks to the efforts of IFC President Isaac Villeda, we welcomed six new members as part of our Beta Class. The men were initiated in October. The Alaska Colony had a strong presence during homecoming, with our President Cory Johannsen winning royalty. The fraternities and sororities on campus participated in a homecoming canned food drive organized by our own Keon O’Brien, collecting 165 cans to fight hunger. We’re excited to see what great things are in store for us in the spring.
The Central Missouri Chapter has been successful this year on and off campus. Around the community, we have participated in various community service projects, including repainting the old school house for the Johnson County Historical Society, setting up tents for the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk at Arrowhead Stadium, and setting up the event for Project Community Connect. We have won first place in both intramural softball and intramural volleyball. We continued our success by assisting our brother, Tyler Jolly, to a secondplace finish in the race for Homecoming King. We have been enjoying the lifestyle of owning our own house, which was acquired by Barrister Capital Corporation this past spring. It has been a great asset for having a central location for our brotherhood.
Augusta | Trey Birdsong We began the fall by pinning 11 Associate Members which is monumental, considering we had just 23 active members a year ago. We hosted our most successful fundraiser this October, receiving $850 and raising $4,300 towards the V Foundation for Cancer Research at our annual Jimmy Jog. We’re hosting a two-man scramble golf event, called Holes for Hope, in which all profits will go towards the V Foundation. We’ll also be hosting our 36th annual White Carnation event. The future is looking bright for the Augusta Chapter and I wish the best of luck to all my brothers and their chapters.
Behrend | John Jarecki This semester, the Behrend Chapter has been hard at work. We have a class of six Associate Members, two brothers who serve on the IFC, and a brother who serves as the President of the Student Government Association. The Chapter recently held our annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Thanksgiving Dinner and is preparing for our 30th Annual White Carnation Formal, which will occur in spring 2020.
Central Oklahoma Colony | Ryan Reece Homecoming 2019 at Central Oklahoma was a huge success. Our organization participated in almost every campus event, the highlight of which is the parade. We had all members and a group of alumni walk and ride with us while handing out bottled water and candy to the citizens of Edmond. We are about to wrap up our fall recruitment class with seven new brothers.
Case Western Reserve | Vishal Shah The Case Western Reserve Chapter started the semester with two weeks of recruitment that included a barbecue, dodgeball, and volunteer work. Additionally, we hosted an alumni event and went paintballing. Our chapter participated in several Greek life activities, including a tricycle relay race, trivia night for philanthropy, and a campus-wide singing competition. For Founders’ Day, we hosted an alumni dinner and had a memorable evening. Other activities have included a fall-themed pumpkin carving night and park cleanup mixers with other chapters. During finals week, we delivered tea, coffee, and snacks across campus to raise money for the V Foundation. Two brothers graduated this semester and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
Chapel Hill Colony | Ethan Jennette The Chapel Hill Colony had a successful fall, expanding its presence in the Greek community and working to consistently contribute to the Chapel Hill community. The Colony is set to elect a new executive board and looks to transition roles and develop new ideas. The Colony initiated three new brothers into the bond and is looking to secure a large Associate Member class this spring. We held a fundraiser, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and are planning to expand fundraising operations for the V Foundation.
Friendship | Character | Justice | Education
11
Delaware | Rob Flynn The fall semester provided ample opportunity for the Delaware Chapter to participate in philanthropy events on campus, including Pi Phi’s “Dodge the Arrow” event and AXID’s flag football tournament. Delta Chi defeated PIKE, Beta Theta Pi, and Alpha Sigma in the final round of the tournament, earning the Chapter more than $500. Our members have been training for the Rave Run, a major fundraiser for U-Dance, with the winners receiving donations towards their chapter’s U-Dance page.
Denver Colony | Erik Frederiksen
Chico Colony | David Gleason We’re grateful for the experience and knowledge we have learned and are able to reflect back on. We had our first annual “Carving for Cancer” event in which participants were able to purchase and carve a pumpkin at our booth, raising around $400 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We’re excited to welcome our Gamma class of nine brothers. We are planning to submit for chartering before this semester is over and have been tirelessly working to earn all needed points. One of the ways we’re earning our points for chartering was by hosting our first parents’ event, in which we went on a hike and enjoyed a barbecue. We look forward to our upcoming elections, bringing new inspiration and ideas.
The Denver Colony had a productive fall, as we welcomed eight Associate Members, pushing our roster to almost 50 men. They’ve completed the Associate Member Program and will go through initiation soon. We hosted a successful Founders’ Day, joining our brothers at Colorado State with a picnic in Washington Park. This semester, we volunteered at a local retirement community, painting rooms and performing facility upkeep. It was truly an enriching experience. We’ve made significant progress with our chartering, with just a few items remaining on our list. We hope to submit our charter by March.
East Stroudsburg | Thomas Heim
Clemson | Patrick Thompson It’s been a busy fall for the Clemson Chapter, with several brothers pursuing internships for next summer. Tim Nayak, John Jennings, and Aubrey Gauthier are among the many members who secured co-ops for the spring. As a chapter, we participated in multiple philanthropic events, including Alpha Chi Omega’s “Walk-a-Mile” and Zeta Tau Alpha’s “Big Man on Campus.” Our flag football team is currently undefeated and looks to make a run at the championship. We recently elected a new Executive Committee and will look to continue chapter improvements.
It has been quite a semester for the East Stroudsburg Chapter. We participated in Delta Chi’s Week of Service in which 20 brothers volunteer at the Special Olympics and we had weekly street cleanups. During the week, we volunteered for a total of 87 hours. We held our fifth annual Pig Roast, which is a day for our brothers and their families to come together and enjoy. It’s been a great semester and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the year holds.
Colorado State Colony | Connor McHugh The Colorado State Colony had a fantastic semester so far and is continuing to look upward. At the beginning of the semester, we were able to pin six Associate Members and had three initiated members return to active status. We were also fortunate to have our first major brotherhood events of the semester with the Denver Colony and Northern Colorado Chapter. We’ve also been active in the Fort Collins community, with our members averaging about 10 hours of community service each. We are currently in the process of finalizing the plans for a philanthropy event to benefit the V Foundation. It is thanks to the dedication of all the members that we were able to receive five awards for excellence from the Delta Chi International Headquarters.
Cornell | Philip Dunne “A truly exciting time to be a member of the Cornell Chapter,” is the mantra instilled in the minds and hearts of our newest Associate Member class. Totaling five new members, their accomplishments and offerings to the Fraternity are bountiful. With this new class, the Chapter is now more geographically diverse and well-versed across academic and extracurricular focuses. We’ve been active in sorority-related philanthropy efforts and have taken on leadership positions in our IFC, pre-professional organizations, and performing arts groups. With these new members, we hope to continue embodying the culture and leadership that make us all proud to be members of Delta Chi.

Eastern Illinois | Corey Clark After moving into a new home on campus, we hosted our fall philanthropic event “Twisted Up” and raised $125 for the V Foundation. We initiated four new members and have recruited more to join in the spring. The new members that joined our chapter are Richard Marrero, Evan Bullock, Isaac Navarro, and Greg Williams. We also had some of our alumni join us for a great homecoming event. We made food and had a great time catching up with newer alumni and learning from our older alumni who were kind enough to bring us chapter history to decorate our new home. We are very excited to keep pushing forward and see where the future takes us.
Eastern Washington | Cameron Zamora Our chapter has undergone many improvements since the start of the quarter and we’ve seen significant academic improvement as well as greater event participation by our members. We hosted a successful homecoming, thanks in part to our alumni. We continue to drive ourselves forward and are excited to see what the future holds.
Edwardsville | Paul Giganti Entering the 2019 fall semester, our brothers were determined to do big things. After receiving the Award of Excellence from Delta Chi Headquarters last semester and attaining the highest GPA among IFC fraternities on campus, we are continuing with forward momentum. We’ve strived to challenge the status quo by raising over $3,200 for cancer research this November during our Jimmy V Week. The Chapter also contributed to a philanthropic community service day with Partners for Pets Animal Shelter in October. In addition, we welcomed 10 new members and one new alumni initiate from the fall recruitment class prior to the election of our new Executive Board. As we come to the close of this semester, we can be thankful for a successful and rewarding year.
Embry-Riddle | Brett Krzynski Over the past semester, the brothers of the Embry-Riddle Chapter have been working diligently to recruit and maintain a strong Associate Member class. We are pleased to announce we have 23 Associate Members this semester and look forward to having them join our brotherhood later this fall. During the last weekend in October, we were pleased to have several attendees at our alumni social dinner. At the dinner, the Greg Nelli/Pat Phelan Scholarship was presented to sophomore Austin Benson for his involvement in extracurricular activities and strong academics. The award was presented by John Mazur, Embry-Riddle ’76, and Ed Fusco, Embry-Riddle ’73. As a chapter, we are involved in many events on campus, including Alpha Xi Delta’s Football Frenzy and Sigma Sigma Sigma’s Mr. Halloween contest to help raise money for their respective philanthropic focuses.
Fredonia | Derek Hall The Fredonia Chapter has been focused on our goal of rejoining our university’s Student Association. The executive board and our president have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal, as rejoining it would provide our chapter with numerous benefits that will help our chapter grow. Currently, we’re on track to complete our other goal of having the most community service hours out of any group on campus.
George Mason | Jaron Moore The George Mason Chapter celebrated its 10th anniversary at Dave and Buster’s on October 12, with founding fathers, alumni, Associate Members, and active members in attendance. We celebrated our accomplishments as a chapter and were thankful to have our “CC” Ron Martin and Regent Gene Dorris in attendance. Our chapter has a strong presence on campus and we’re ready to add another 10 years to our history.
Georgia Southern | Auston Netcher Ferrum | Carl Schwabenton We volunteered at the Ferrum Squad House, preparing Panther Packs for the children of Franklin County. We volunteered at the James Madison University game to help with security and the brothers went out on November 1 for the Ferrum College trunk-or-treat for children in the county. We held the semiannual Pie-a-Chi event, which is held once a semester. Our first-ever bowling tournament took place at the Rocky Mount Bowling Alley and raised over $300 for the V Foundation.
Florida State | Ethan Hoffer This semester has been full of great achievements for our chapter at Florida State. We had a very exciting start to the new semester with the acquisition of the largest fraternity house on campus. It has afforded us excellent opportunities such as increased living and entertainment spaces, improved security, access to a 24-hour fitness room, study rooms, cleaner and safer living spaces, and much more. Additionally, we have also recruited one of our largest Associate Member classes to date. Our chapter was truly honored to have won the 201819 President’s Cup in the Red Division for overall superior performance and programming. For philanthropy, we will be hosting our annual event, Pups and Pies, with 100% brotherhood involvement and hopes of breaking our chapter record once again. Furthermore, we are once again participating in the Gift of Life Marrow Registry, an international public bone marrow and blood stem cell registry to help facilitate transplants for those suffering from life threatening diseases. Our chapter is rapidly growing and setting big goals for the future as we work together to better ourselves and others at Florida State.
This fall semester, we saw our chapter grow, not only in members, but in overall achievement. We initiated nine young gentlemen into the Chapter this semester and look forward to how they grow within the Fraternity. We were also thankful to receive four separate awards for the past year, with two in achievement and two in excellence. We also looked to make improvements with our philanthropy events by hosting “Carving Against Cancer” to raise money for the V Foundation. We had several sororities come and carve pumpkins for the event, which saw us raise the most money from a single event in our recent history. We also hosted an alumni brunch and shared many stories with the older alumni and their time during college. For the first time this decade, we participated in homecoming and had a representative running for homecoming king. We look forward to what the future holds.
Georgia Tech | Trevor Beachboard This semester, the Georgia Tech Chapter had another successful fall recruitment with 20 new Associate Members joining our brotherhood. The Associate Members have gotten involved in the Chapter by becoming major contributors

in preparation for homecoming and members of various intramural teams. The Chapter worked very hard on hosting our 10th annual Pig Roast over Parent’s Weekend in early October, raising over $2,600 for the V Foundation and looks forward to continuing our partnership with a local winter shelter to give back to the Atlanta community in the coming months. The Chapter would like to congratulate our three brothers graduating this semester and wish them success in their professional endeavors.
Our members have put in many hours of community service in cleaning up our adopted highway and doing work around our campus. We also teamed up with Pan Caribbean Student Organization to donate items to the people who were left homeless from Hurricane Dorian. On the social side, our brothers got to attend a formal dinner with a sorority that was filled with entertainment. The Iowa State brothers have also had many brotherhood events including intramural sports, cheering on the Cyclones, watching sports at the house, going out to eat, and even putting in some study hours together. To finish off this semester strong, our members will be putting in a lot of work to meet their goals with their grades, recruiting more members, and continuing a strong brotherhood.
Johnstown | David Harris Hamilton | Peter Schavee The summer has passed and members returned to campus with stories and tales of internships and summer job experiences. Ben Katz and Daniel Gleidman both went to Wall Street. Peter Case returned to Nepal to scale the very difficult Lhotse. Antton de Arbeloa performed ground breaking research in Spain on Medieval Europe and the discovery of the new world. Everyone returned to campus to initiate the new class, who show great promise for doing amazing things for the Chapter. Members have been engaged with community service at the local refugee center and have been helping to recycle food from the dining halls around campus. There is also a service trip planned by two seniors, Robert Berk and Keith Ruggles, to Columbia to teach underprivileged children to read.
This fall, the members of the Johnstown Chapter celebrated our 47th anniversary with a homecoming pig roast. Several community service events were planned and completed in hope of once again winning the Organization of the Year Award, including a food drive, a highway cleanup, the walk to end Alzheimer’s, and a slap-shot hockey tournament. We completed several philanthropy events to meet our goal for donations to the V Foundation.
Kansas State | Mark Buckwalter Members of the Kansas State Chapter ran in the Kansas State Alumni Association 5k as part of the homecoming festivities this October. All proceeds from the race benefitted the local Boy’s and Girl’s Club chapter. Brother Shane Friedrichsen placed second overall and first among all fraternity men in the race.
Hobart | Chris Fronsaglia It has been a memorable fall semester for the Hobart Chapter in Geneva, New York. We returned to school to find a newly renovated front porch and pillars, which in addition to other projects have the house looking phenomenal. After completing a community service project with the Garvas Center in Auburn, New York last spring, we have since signed a partnership with them and are looking forward to working together in the future. The Hobart Chapter also had a successful intramural season this fall, with solid performances on both the soccer and flag football fields. We welcomed a great group of Associate Members into the Chapter this fall and were pleasantly surprised to receive multiple visits from alumni over the course of the semester.
Illinois | Jake Guth The Illinois Chapter had an eventful summer and start to the fall. Our summer golf outing at Harborside International raised over $10,000 for needed chapter house improvements. Our fall class of 35 Associate Members joined 1,000+ students for iHelp, a day of service benefitting the Champaign-Urbana area. We hosted some alumni for lunch after the Illinois football team’s homecoming win against Wisconsin. Six of our members won the intramural volleyball championship and our soccer teams narrowly missed the playoffs, with both team aiming for a successful indoor season. The whole chapter is looking forward to finishing the semester strong.
Kennesaw | Kyle Baker This semester, the Kennesaw State Chapter will initiate 11 new members into the brotherhood. We’ve hosted several successful social events this semester, including our sixth annual Halloween social. We’ve donated over $500 to local Greek-organization philanthropic events and have raised nearly $300 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Our alumni presence is on the rise and we look forward to continuing that momentum. We recently had our biannual brotherhood camping retreat and it was amazing. Our chapter is currently at 35 members and we look forward to expanding in the near future.
Kent State | Jacob Howell In November 2017, the Kent State Colony initiated its first class in almost a decade. Since day one, we’ve had the goal of fulfilling all requirements needed to receive our charter. After two years of dedication and hard work, we’re excited to announce our chartering as of November 2, 2019. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all who were involved in our success and we are excited to continue to represent the organization we all love.
Kettering-A | Austin Widger Iowa State | Alexander Morehead This fall semester, the Iowa State Chapter has worked very hard in promoting the expectations of being Delta Chi. Our philanthropic event known as “D-Chi Cheese Guys” has raised over $1,000 which was donated to the V Foundation.

During our last term, our chapter decided to reintroduce the Member-atLarge (MAL) position. Our two new MALs are looking to redefine the position responsibilities to help improve awareness of mental health, individual growth, and goal-setting. Over the summer, our chapter had 245 service hours and raised more than $750 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We’re working on bringing back our winter semi-formal through the creation of an ad-hoc committee and we hope this event will attract alumni and re-establish the fun of
this former tradition. In the past, the event was a great setting for undergraduate members and alumni to interact.
a time it has been. This semester, we started some new traditions such as our alumni weekend and our father-son chili cook off. Both were successful and are things we’re looking forward to doing for years to come.
Kettering-B | Jason Miller We started our recruitment term with multiple social events, such as hosting a Luau and laser tag. The turnouts were more than we could have hoped for, as we’re aiming to continue this momentum throughout the year. We’re currently planning to host two philanthropic events before the winter break, with “Dressa-Chi” and “Wholesome Christmas Party” on the docket. With the help of our newly created mental health positions, we believe that the support culture in our house has never been higher. We’re also very excited and honored to have Richard Budop III, Kettering-B ’17, as our new “BB”.
Long Beach | Amim Hakem The Long Beach Chapter has made amazing strides in recruitment, bringing in 38 Associate Members and retaining them in the fall. We continue to strive for excellence in all facets and encourage each other to invest in themselves while maintaining a top-tier presence on campus. The Chapter continues to be a force amongst other fraternities in athletic competition, setting ourselves apart as finalists in almost every event we participate in. The continued support of our alumni has proven to be a great asset in guiding the Chapter, as we continue to progress towards our collective goals.
Louisiana Tech | Mason Bamburg
Lehigh | PJ Walsh
The Louisiana Tech Chapter recently welcomed 24 Associate Members, putting us in a great spot. We recently teamed with Rolling Hills Ministry for a community service project, cleaning out two food trucks. A project normally taking 30 hours to complete, our teamwork led to completing the task in just four hours. Through multiple philanthropic events, we’ve raised about $1,000 as a chapter. We were recently awarded the President’s Cup which greatly excited the Chapter, as we saw our hard work pay off. To all of the Louisiana Tech alumni, be on the look-out for emails and updates related to winter quarter events, crawfish boils, and more.
We recently welcomed two Associate Members, capping off a 2019 class totaling 15. Some of the highlights this semester were the Southside Cleanup, Lehigh’s Spooktacular, and Hawkathon. Hawkathon is a large fundraiser put on to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We had our annual recruitment event at “Behind the Walls” at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, a historical site.
LSU | Eric Napier
Little Rock | Turner Hudson Coming off a year in which we won Greek Week and intramurals, we’ve had a substantial precedent to live up to. Our aim is to surpass our previous success. This year marks our fifth at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and what
This semester, our numbers have greatly increased with the initiation of 28 Associate Members. We held a successful kickball tournament and raised money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. By wining the soccer intramural championship, this has been one of the best semesters for us from an athletics standpoint. The biggest event this semester for the Chapter was booking Shaquille O’Neal to DJ at a local venue. This was massive news not only for the Chapter but also for Baton Rouge. He is one of LSU’s most notable alumni and it was his first time back in years. He had never previously performed in his college town. Overall, it was a successful semester and we hope to keep this positive momentum going into the spring.

Marquette | Michael Lindsay As we are coming off a solid year, receiving the Most Improved Chapter Award from the Interfraternity Council, we continue to strive for greatness. The month of November will be a month of service and giving for us, with each brother aspiring to complete 10 hours of service and double our donation amount to the V Foundation from last year. Brothers are looking forward to semi-formal as it will be a time to take a break from studying and service to strengthen our brotherhood. Brothers are also excited to support and celebrate each other’s accomplishments in all our successes and future endeavors.
Minnesota | Johnny Puntillo The Minnesota Chapter prides itself on its commitment to giving back to the community that we are fortunate to be part of. This fall, active and Associate Members accompanied Zev Radziwill, Minnesota ’90, recipient of the 2018-19 Meritorious Service Award, in assisting the Green Minneapolis organization during their tree census, which aims to improve public health outcomes and combat the urban heat island effect. Our members working together to achieve a goal predicated on bettering our community demonstrated the values of Delta Chi. Our chapter would also like to welcome Connor Johnson, Minnesota ’16, who previously served as the “A” from 2015-16, as the new “BB”. We’re excited to work with Connor and other alumni to continue to grow.
Massachusetts | Ian Choo Our chapter is proud to announce that we pinned 14 Associate Members who we hope will be the leaders in the next generation Delta Chi. We’ve raised about $1,600 for the V Foundation through our annual philanthropy event with Six Flags with the anticipation of future events. Our chapter has received multiple core competency awards from IHQ as well as the President’s Most Improved Trophy in recognition of our efforts in the previous year. The Chapter is ecstatic to have accomplished so much in recent times and we hope to keep it up for the foreseeable future.
Missouri | Alexander Lakin This fall, our chapter has continued to grow and show great strides in our goals. One example was our participation in Mizzou’s Homecoming. The University of Missouri has been credited with inventing the Homecoming tradition and has continued to celebrate the occasion yearly since its inception in 1911. Every year the Greek community holds competitions between all the houses, pairing fraternities and sororities together to help broaden the connections made throughout the Homecoming process. This year, our chapter was paired with the women of Chi Omega, a familiar pairing as our chapters won first-place together three years ago. The members of our chapters worked many tiring and sleepless hours completing our float, house decorations, and practicing our skit and dances. We are very proud of how hard our members and Associate Members worked to meet our goals, as well as the women of Chi Omega. This accomplishment is one that will be remembered for years to come.
Missouri State | Justin Glock Michigan | Andrew Greenberg The Michigan Chapter has used the Michigan football season for fundraising efforts in collaboration with “Go Blue, Wear Pink,” a student-run organization that raises money for breast cancer research. The money is donated directly to the Rogel Cancer Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan to further accelerate the groundbreaking research being conducted there. It’s exciting to see our Associate Members contribute to this cause as well. We held our annual tailgate in collaboration with “Go Blue, Wear Pink” and a flag football tournament dedicated to raising money for the campaign. The effort brought our annual total to over $35,000 and our total since 2007 to more than $350,000. We hope to reach $60,000 by the end of 2019.

Thanks to the efforts of Sam Pannett, Elijah Bowen, and our entire recruitment team, the Missouri State Chapter pinned 64 Associate Members this fall, marking a successful Alpha Mu class. Our goal was to form a bond with every potential new member, as nearly every Associate Member says they chose Delta Chi because it was the most welcoming and genuine brotherhood. The events held during recruitment had an unbelievable amount of potential new members and we’re happy with the results. All the Associate Members who signed bid cards have helped with recruitment, wanting to bring more quality people to the Fraternity.
Northwestern | Ryan Farley We have continued to see the Northwestern Chapter grow and flourish. In the spring quarter, we welcomed six new members, bringing our 2019 recruitment
class total to 28. As is the case with any incoming class, we had to bid farewell to our amazing seniors that have led our chapter to new heights and will be greatly missed. In the spring, we held our annual Delta Chi movers event, helping students move out of the dorms and into summer housing. This event helped us raise money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. On the year, we’ve raised over $7,500 and have enjoyed being a positive force on campus. So far, we’re enjoying a great fall quarter with the highest recruitment numbers on campus.
Rutgers | Philip Abundo In my last stretch as the “E” for the Chapter, I’m proud to say that we’re in a golden era of our chapter’s history. I’m proud to call the men my brothers, best friends, and family. From placing in the top-three Greek organizations for Relay for Life at Rutgers, to strides with “Eat Clean Bro,” sponsoring our intramural sports league and philanthropy event, to many successful brotherhood events and memories, I am proud of each and every single one of my brothers for going above and beyond their duties to ensure that the legacies of our predecessors, as well as our own, will echo for years to come. Our chapter just had its 20th anniversary of brotherhood on campus and we are looking forward to many more years of academic success and improvement across all spectrums of the Chapter.
Omaha Colony | Jaydon Casillas The Omaha Colony joined the Greek community in January 2019, as we hope to continue to grow as a fraternity and help other organizations in the area. We recently hosted the Inaugural Delta Chi Alumni Golf Scramble, which raised money for both the Colony and our local philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House. Our Executive Board officially reviewed and ratified our colony’s by-laws, a historic moment in our history. We’ve also taken part in multiple exchanges, social events, and fundraisers with other Greek and nonGreek organizations alike. Our focus continues to be bettering ourselves as leaders and earning our charter.
Ohio State | Yonatan Wechsler This semester, we are thrilled to share that once again, our annual car smash was a huge success. Thanks to donations from local businesses, fellow students, and alumni, we were able to raise $2,000 for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. We plan on raising even more money in a few weeks when we host a new event called “Drench a D-Chi,” where brothers will volunteer to get water balloons thrown at them in exchange for a donation. Special thank you to our philanthropy chair, Stephen Fisher, for all of his hard work in putting together these events.
San Antonio Colony | Clayton Jaskinia The San Antonio Colony was visited by “AA” Aaron Otto, who delivered the set of awards the Colony received from the 2018-19 academic year. We welcomed six new Associate Members and one alumni initiate. Our Week of Service activities included a book drive, “deep talks” with Delta Chi, and building game booths for a local non-profit. Our “A” Zachary Franckowiak was crowned Mr. A&M-San Antonio for the 2019-20 academic year. Adding to our awards, the brothers took part in the first ever “Trunk-O-Treat” held on campus and walked away with the best student organization trunk. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us, from alumni to IHQ staff, and many others.
Oshkosh | Zach Herriges The Oshkosh Chapter increased its size by 21% this semester through a dedicated recruitment push. Our Co-Recruitment Chairs have spearheaded this effort, creating numerous social events that encourage incoming freshmen participation. We introduced a new accountability plan and a house system for accountability, utilizing a family system of “Bigs” and “Littles”. Each of our three houses has a member appointed to track activity and hold members accountable. We prioritize quality over quantity in recruitment, as we aim to add members who share our aspirations, join to make a difference, and want to build better men.
Spring Hill | Gavin Day Comradery in the Spring Hill Chapter is at an all-time high thanks to a semester filled with float trips, bonfires, baseball, and hockey games. In lieu of supporting the football program, as is typical at most universities, the Chapter has gathered to support the rugby team. Ten members of Delta Chi are players on the team and they’ve gone undefeated in the USA Rugby League and are 17th in the nation. We’re currently active in our preparations for spring recruitment.
Penn State | Nick Rosaschi The Penn State Chapter annually hosts Delta Dogs, a philanthropic event that supports the Tutu Project, a breast cancer-focused foundation. We partnered with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society for the event and raised nearly $1,500 for the Tutu Project. We’re thrilled to have hosted another successful Delta Dogs and have begun planning our next philanthropic event.

Syracuse | Jackson Duffy The Syracuse Chapter had a strong community presence this semester. Every Wednesday, we collected leftover food from a Syracuse dining hall and delivered it to the homeless. We participated in an event called Greek-or-Treat where we spent a couple hours with young kids talking to them about Halloween and working on some fun arts and crafts while building relationships with them. This is an event that every Greek organization has a role in and we’re proud to report that nearly every member of the Chapter was able to make it for this fun-filled day.
Texas Tech | Mitchell Ryan The fall 2019 semester has been a great one for the Texas Tech Chapter. We secured an Associate Member class of 27 guys from recruitment week thanks to our awesome recruitment chairman. One of the biggest events at Texas Tech is homecoming, where several organizations pair up with one another to compete in a dance competition as well as build a float. We are happy to announce that our float placed second during the homecoming parade and are very proud of the hard work our members put in to make this happen. For philanthropy, we raised $1,700 from our semi-annual barbecue with Delta Chi. Our members have also been successful in intramurals by advancing to playoffs for football and winning their first playoff game last week.
USP | Ryan Martin The USP Chapter organized a community-wide cleanup of a local garden in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We picked up trash, cleared walking paths, raked leaves, and cleared weeds in an attempt to make it a beautiful spot for city dwellers.
Virginia Tech Colony | Abu Tahir The Virginia Tech Colony continued its momentum from the spring semester and had a great fall semester. We hosted our first annual “Race for the Cure”, an amazing race around the Virginia Tech Campus, raising $5,000 for the V Foundation. We held various brotherhood events, our most successful of which was attending a Roanoke Railyard Dawgs game, earning the title of “infamous section 31”. We also held a homecoming tailgate to welcome and mingle with the alumni from the previous chapter at Virginia Tech. Looking forward, we are hoping to charter soon and we wanted to give thanks to the Delta Chi Headquarters, our “BB” Greg Caufman, and all of the others who have helped us throughout the process.
Windsor | Szilard Smidt
Tri-State | Adam McHenry This semester, our brothers have been steadfast in accomplishing our philanthropic and campus goals. Our main philanthropy events this semester consisted of working at Cedar Point, helping Camp Arcadia close for winter, and “Puppies, Pies and D-Chi’s.” We will also be having our winter formal this semester called “Chuck’s Belly Rub.” This formal is meant to help bring alumni back to campus and allow for increased alumni relations between the actives and alumni. We have put more effort into our recruitment to get more guys to the house. We hosted several events like NERF wars, casino night, and bocce ball tournaments to keep the actives involved with recruitment. We will be graduating four seniors this semester and currently have five driven Associate Members. This is a monumental semester and year for us, and we are ecstatic to see where it takes our chapter.
The brothers of the Windsor Chapter had a very successful recruitment season. We managed to pin 17 men who have great potential. Plans are in motion to ensure that the values and traditions of Delta Chi are passed down to the new generation. We had a feast with alumni to celebrate Founders’ Day and Canadian Thanksgiving. We had multiple brotherhood events, including taco night, sports night, movie night, and more. The Chapter is working to better its relationship with other Greek organizations on campus and we had two social events.
Wisconsin | Michael Hatch
Truman State | Nolan Bright The Truman State Chapter welcomed 13 Associate Members, with nearly 20% of the bids signed on campus belonging to Delta Chi. We improved our chapter house by adding a deck on the side of the house, which was graciously paid for by our dedicated alumni. Recently, we welcomed back 20 of those alumni for homecoming and we’re appreciative for what they’ve given back to the Chapter that has provided them with the brotherhood of a lifetime. We’re saddened to say that one of our chapter’s founding fathers, J. Craig Davidson, passed away in September. This was a low point in a semester of many highs and we’ll carry his memory forward as we continue to achieve great things.

The Wisconsin Chapter has demonstrated its continuing rise since returning to campus in 2014, winning Humorology and raising the most money for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Dane County. Our roster count is up to 53 members, with several members earning leadership positions and developing skills that will help them in their post-collegiate careers. This past year, we initiated 28 new members and are on track to add another 16. We have the second-highest grade point average on campus out of all fraternities and are focused on earning the top-spot. Feel free to visit us at 121 Langdon Street!
