Anthony J. Kiekow is an Associated Press and Public Relations Society of America award-winning communicator. He currently works for Boeing as a senior communications specialist. Prior to joining Boeing, he served as communications director for Hazelwood School District. Kiekow also worked as a news reporter for FOX 2 and News 4. He is a University of Minnesota graduate and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His guiding principle – a person’s past does not have to define their future – stems from his personal story of perseverance. Kiekow dropped out of school at 15. Prior to entering coaching, Patterson worked in corporate accounting. Patterson volunteered to coach a youth football team at a local Boys & Girls Club. Educated in medicine at the University of Connecticut and trained in surgery at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, this desire to heal has brought to life a career with a three-fold focus: education, trauma, and healing. Moving to Ferguson post-Ferguson, he collaborated with numerous stakeholders to create “The T”, a community of health promoting holistic healing from trauma related to bullet injuries and overdose in St. Louis. The T transforms healthcare delivery through education and antiracist, relationship-based education, engagement, and direct care. This includes the creation of The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) and The KEY, a harm reduction program with a focus on overdose risk, both centering the experience of Black men because #BlackPainMatters.
