Cora dedicated her life’s work to public service, social justice, women’s reproductive rights, and health equity access. She was an ardent advocate for women, children, and the underserved throughout Ferguson, the state of Missouri, and the world. Always strident and steadfast in her devotion to meet the most pressing needs of her community, she achieved so much because she put service to others before self. Walker ardently advocated and stood in solidarity with victims of sexual assault and sexual violence. She devoted countless hours to supporting victims as they sought healing and justice. Despite these accolades bestowed on her, she valued her relationship with her husband, parents, siblings, college friends, and professional colleagues.

Walker served in the Missouri House of Representatives, elected to her first term in November 2016. Most recently, Ms. Walker served as the Chief Policy Officer for the St. Louis County Executive.

WILLIAM STANFORD DAVIS Award Winning Actor

William Stanford Davis is an award-winning, classically trained actor and veteran of both stage and screen with close to 100 credits. The St. Louis, Missouri native is currently receiving rave reviews for his performance as the cantankerous yet lovable janitor Mr. Johnson on the hit ABC series “Abbott Elementary,” and also recurs as Coach Max on the sports series “Swagger,” Davis has appeared in some of the most popular and award-winning TV shows, from his role on Showtime’s long running, Golden Globe-winning series “Ray Donovan,” and on OWN’s flagship successful series, “If Loving You Is Wrong,” from Tyler Perry.

Davis has also been cast in critical recurring roles on TNT’s “Snowpiercer,” “Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip,” and “Lincoln Heights,” and has guest starred on such long running programs such as “Perry Mason,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Chicago Med,” “Criminal Minds,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Ally Mc Beal,” “Touched By An Angel,” and many more. In a career filled with numerous outstanding highlights, Davis also earned an Emmy Award in 2002 as part of the cast of Rasheen Crawley’s “The Movement.”

In film, Davis recently starred in, “A Holiday Chance,” which premiered in November 2021 on AppleTV+ and Hulu, as well as “Please Stand By,” and “So B It.” On stage, Davis was honored with an Ovation Nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the 2006 Actors Studio Production of August Wilson’s “Fences,” and he performed in the musical production “North on South Central,” which won five NAACP Theatre Awards in 2004. In addition to acting, Davis has directed a number of productions including Lawrence Fishburne’s play “Riff Raff,” a production of “Shame,” and “The Old Settler.” Davis has spent more than 15 years mentoring the next generation of talent at both his own company, the William Stanford Davis Acting Class masterclass, and at the Actors Studio, where he is a lifetime member. He has coached several emerging stars. Davis resides in Los Angeles.

ELINOR F. HANCOCK, M.D Pediatrician

A life dedicated to serving children is a part of Dr. Elinor Hancock’s genetic makeup. Stricken withType 1 diabetes at the age of 13, Dr. Hancock found motivation behind the illness and used it to propel her 42-year career in medicine. She was determined to build a business based on the principle of providing quality healthcare to low-income and Medicaid patients and accomplished this by establishing Florissant Pediatrics (1998-2019). Dr. Elinor Hancock is a pediatrics expert currently serving within the community of Bridgeton, MO.

Dr. Hancock graduated from MEHARRY MED COLL SCH OF MED in 1980 and completed her residency at Baltimore City Hospital. After completing her residency, Dr. Hancock completed a fellowship at John Hopkins University and has held various pediatrician positions over her decades long career. She represents the 3rd of 4 generations of doctors in her family to serve the St. Louis Metropolitan and surrounding areas. Hancock Ave., in Berkeley, MO is named after Dr. Hancock’s grandfather, Dr. Clifford Hancock (Meharry Alumni). Dr. Hancock is the proud mother of three (Farrell, b.Marcell (Brandon Williams), Brelon) and grandmother of five (Jadyn, Peter, Brielle, Blake, Brandon).

LAROYCE HAWKINS

Award Winning Actor

LaRoyce Hawkins is a television, film, and theater actor. He was born and raised in Harvey, Illinois–a south Chicago suburb–and attended Thornton High School, where he first became interested in acting and stand-up comedy. He attended Illinois State University on a full tuition scholarship, where he majored in acting. Hawkins began his career in the major motion picture The Express (2008) followed by television appearances on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Detroit 187, and UnderEmployed. He landed his first big television role as Officer Kevin Atwater, a series regular on the hit NBC drama Chicago P.D., and recurs on Chicago Fire and Mark Wahlberg’s HBO show Ballers. Hawkins can also be seen on HBO’s South Side and the new BET+ film North of the 10.

He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity nc. A native Chicagoan, Hawkins spends his off-screen time in his community with his Be Powerful initiative, which serves underprivileged youth and families in need.

KSDK On Your Side

Art Holliday’s broadcasting career spans four decades in news and sports, including 43 years at KSDK. In December 2020 he was named interim news director, and in March 2021 he became the permanent news director. Art came to 5 On Your Side in 1979 and worked as a sportscaster until 1989 when he began a 22-year stint co-anchoring Today in St. Louis with Jennifer Blome. Besides anchoring, Art served as managing editor and twice was executive producer of the morning newscast. He most recently co-anchored the 4 p.m. newscast alongside Kay Quinn and Scott Connell and co-hosted a radio show on KTRS with Blome. Before joining 5 On Your Side, Art worked in the sports department of KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City for a little over two Years.

Art’s broadcasting work has been recognized with numerous awards, including three sportscasting Emmys in 1985, 1988, and 1989. The Missouri Broadcasters Association inducted Art into its Hall of Fame in 2022. In 2001, Art was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists. In 2002, the National Alliance on Mental Health presented Art its annual Media Award, and the following year the University of Missouri-Columbia selected him for its prestigious Faculty-Alumni Award. In 2009, Art was inducted into the St. Louis Media Foundation Television Hall of Fame. Art is a native of St. Charles, Missouri and earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

SHAMEEM CLARK HUBBARD

26th Ward

City of St. Louis

Shameem Clark Hubbard humbly serves as 26th Ward Alderwoman in the City of St. Louis. Shameem was inspired by her grandfather to become a community activist. Joseph Clark, Sr. was a renowned alderman in the 4th ward from 1963 to 1973; he later went on to become the first African American Director of Public Safety and Director of Welfare in the city of St. Louis. Shameem was first elected to office in 2012 as the committeewoman for the 26th ward.

Alderwoman Clark Hubbard understands that care and concerns are different from one corner to the next in its diverse neighborhoods and stands on a platform of addressing them and SERVING through transparency, inclusion, and open-door communication. She believes leadership is about ACTION, not position. In 2019 she ran a victorious grassroot campaign to fill the vacated 26th ward Alderperson seat, was sworn in on April 16, 2019, and hit the ground running, learning and serving ever since! As the City of St. Louis continues to go through changes, Shameem prays and believes her sincere heart, and unifying spirit shines a different light, not just on the STL City Board of Alderman and the former 26th Ward, but on the new 10th Ward and the entire City Of St. Louis! l as well!

Shameem has been a licensed cosmetologist for 26 years; she owned and operated two successful salons for more than half those years. While she closed her salon in 2020, she didn’t slow down and continued her monthly meetings with her ward via zoom and live streaming on social media. Shameem hasn’t slowed down, she has been consistent. Alderwoman Clark Hubbard is dedicated to her community, her husband and their five children.

CASSANDRA RAY Vice President, Finance, and CFO Saint Louis Zoo

Cassandra Brown Ray, CPA, MBA, joined the Saint Louis Zoo in 1992 as a staff accountant and has served as the Controller/ Director of Finance since 1999. In 2019, Ray was named Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for the finance and procurement operations of the Saint Louis Zoo. She works closely with the governance of the Saint Louis Zoo, including the Audit, Investment, and Finance Committees. In 2021, Mrs. Ray was named one of the Saint Louis Business Journal’s Most Influential Business Women. Ray serves on the Duo Dogs Board of Directors and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Finance and Audit Committee.

She is a graduate of FOCUS Leadership St. Louis (2014) and a member of the inaugural class of the FOCUS Impact Fellows, a team charged with developing and implementing an action plan using the 2015 Ferguson Commission Report as a guideline. Ray also serves as the Team Leader of the Saint Louis Zoo’s Diversity Equity Accessibility and Inclusion (DEAI) Committee. She earned her MBA from Lindenwood University and her undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Before joining the Zoo, she worked for General Dynamics and McDonnell Douglas.

My focus is corporate compliance and ethics. In this role, I ensure the Agency is compliant with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. I also collaborate with various departments including Labor Relations, EEO, and Human Resources on employment issues. I also manage outside counsel in defending the Agency in civil litigation and administrative proceedings. Prior to joining Bi-State, the majority of my practice consisted of litigation, beginning with Husch Blackwell Sanders (formerly Husch & Eppenberger) and Banks & Associates. From there, I moved to Florida to work side by side with famed trial attorneys, Johnnie Cochran and Willie Gary. I eventually returned home to St. Louis and continued my litigation practice at Fox Smith where I became the first African American partner. In addition to the private sector and in-house, I worked in public service for the Missouri Attorney General as Chief Counsel of the Eastern Region of Missouri. I defended the State of Missouri and its employees in State and Federal Court and before the Eastern District of Missouri Court of Appeals. During the course of my career, I’ve spoken on legal topics relating to litigation, employment law, client development, trial strategies, time management, and women in the legal profession. I’ve been a member of numerous boards,including The National Bar Association, The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, The St. Louis County Bar Association, the Mound City Bar Association, the Center of Creative Arts Board and St. Louis Children’s Choir Board. I was recently a recipient of the 2022 Women’s Justice Award from Missouri Lawyers Media. I currently serve as a Disciplinary Hearing Officer for the Missouri Bar in the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, as Vice President of the CARATS, Inc., as Scholarship Committee Chair of the Archway (Mo) Chapter of the Links Incorporated and Board Member of The St. Louis Zoo. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I am married to Ron Redwing and we have one son, Jackson Tucker.

REUBEN SHELTON III, ESQ. Grand Polemarch/CEO

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated

Reuben Shelton was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was a standout high school basketball player recruited to play for the national powerhouse Kansas University Jayhawks. A career-ending injury focused him on his career objective of becoming a lawyer, and following a clerkship with St. Louis’ first African American federal circuit court judge, he embarked on a corporate law career at a prominent law firm in St. Louis. He would transition from serving as outside counsel to going in-house and working for a couple of large corporations, including Monsanto where he rose to become the company’s lead counsel for litigation. Over the course of his career, Reuben achieved many firsts including becoming the first African American president of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and of the Missouri Bar Association. He retired in early 2017, and turned his focus to furthering his civic service.

On August 3, 2019, at its 84th Grand Chapter Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, Reuben A. Shelton, Esq. was elected Grand Polemarch (president/CE0) of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. Attorney Shelton, a resident of Chesterfield, MO and member of the St. Louis Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Shelton has served as Senior Grand Vice Polemarch (Vice President) since 2015 and member of the Board of Directors since 2007.

Shelton was initiated into the fraternity, November 23, 1974 at the University of Kansas, the Mu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas, a Juris Doctorate degree from St. Louis University, and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. Attorney Shelton resides in St. Louis County with his wife D’anne, together they have three daughters Christian, Brandi and Heather and is a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

In 2021, Angelia created the Destined II SOAR show, highlighting local business and community leaders which airs on AH TV network and SPN Network. Angelia serves as an assistant pastor at True Gospel Temple and a member of Aloha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. she has two daughters Brittany and Kristyn Bills.

Brandon M. Henry is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and serves as the President/CEO of Henry Funeral and Cremation Services. He has over 20 years of experience in the funeral service profession, beginning his career at Wade Funeral Home. ADAM L. LAYNE City Treasurer, St. Louis Treasurer’s Office

Adam Layne serves as the Treasurer of St. Louis, appointed in April of 2021 to succeed the former Treasurer and current Mayor, Tishaura Jones. Treasurer Layne originally joined the Treasurer’s Office as the Deputy Chief of Staff, after being an independent consultant in curriculum development and nonprofit financial management. Born in Boston, Adam Layne came to St. Louis in 2011 through the Teach For America program, teaching high school math teacher before becoming the director of a local education nonprofit and then being elected to the Board of Education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the George Washington University and a master’s from UMSL. Treasurer Layne leads with his passion of education and a finance-minded approach in serving St. Louis and its residents.

Aja La’Starr is a former Jennings councilwoman, author, poet, trauma educator and peer specialist from St. Louis, Missouri. She received her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Xavier University of Louisiana and her MBA from University of Phoenix. Aja is a change agent that has dedicated her life to utilizing creative arts to promote healing in the community for the betterment of humanity. Dr. Punch loves to heal. Educated in medicine at the University of Connecticut and trained in surgery at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, this desire to heal has brought to life a career with a three-fold focus: education, trauma, and healing. Moving to Ferguson post-Ferguson, he collaborated with numerous stakeholders to create “The T”, a community of health promoting holistic healing from trauma related to bullet injuries and overdose in St. Louis. The T transforms healthcare delivery through education and antiracist, relationship-based education, engagement, and direct care. This includes the creation of The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) and The KEY, a harm reduction program with a focus on overdose risk, both centering the experience of Black men because #BlackPainMatters.

Okunsola’s leadership grew the STL Doula community from 5 Black certified doulas to 200+ in 5-years through her Community Doula Training as St. Louis’ 1st Black written, created & taught community-based doula training. She has inspired a new generation of women in St.Louis to follow in her footsteps and become Black Doulas and Midwives. Okunsola is the author of 2-books, A Black Woman’s Guide to Home Birth and the Moon Goddess Guide Book. Okunsola leads the STL360 Doula Initiative, which will identify St. Louis as a designated Safer Childbirth City thanks to the work of Jamaa Birth Village.
