On the run... The hustle and bustle of New York City intervenes with my conjunction. I remain calm pull out the lighter that has slowly moulded into a shape of it’s own in the bottom of my pocket and light up my cigar. The movement of the fire slowly smouldering the end is stimulating to the mind. I watch the cigar slowly disappearing before me like bones to ashes. I am so transfixed by this image that I loose track of time. Stop, damn!! I become so easily distracted.... I intake the nicotine that rushes to my head like a bullet to the brain, keeping me sane and alive. My movements become repetitive as I slowly pace up and down creating a path I can easily walk into again and again. This becomes a ritual. Something I have to adhere to. My footsteps are echoing throughout and I stand still. My stance becomes awkward, I fold my arms, this becomes even more awkward. I tilt my head back and move my neck in a circular motion getting rid of the trepidation. I suddenly feel something brush past me, almost teasing me like every God damn woman in New York City.
