HI-7061L is a general-purpose cleaning solution that can be used for a variety of applications. Electrodes become dirty from use and will produce inaccurate results even if they read correctly in a pH buffer. HANNA’s cleaning solutions eliminate impurities and residues which are left on electrode surfaces when immersed in samples during measurement or when stored incorrectly. HANNA suggests cleaning the bulb and junction of your electrode regularly in the ready-to-use cleaning solutions to ensure that the probe is always clean and to prevent any clogging of the junction. All cleaning solutions are packaged in an airtight bottle with a tamper-proof seal to ensure quality and freshness. All solutions show a batch number and expiry date.

Useful tips: After cleaning, rinse the electrode in tap water and then place it in a HANNA Storage Solution before calibrating or taking measurements. Always follow up with a HANNA Buffer/calibrating solution for the best results.

Buffer Solution Capsules These buffer solution capsules for use with pH electrodes are convenient and easy to use. Simply split the capsule in two and add to 100 ml of deionised/ distilled water and mix. No minimum shelf life, so will keep for years!

BO80400

Storage bottle for 12 mm diameter probes

HANNA buffer solutions are prepared, ready-to-use, according to precise formulas and standardised in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to ensure quality and accuracy. All solutions show a batch number, an expiry date, and the correlation table between pH and temperature. A certificate of analysis is available on request. All bottled solutions are sealed with an airtight, tamper-proof seal to prevent any Carbon Dioxide from entering and causing a change in the pH buffer value.

Top Tips: • pH electrodes must NEVER be allowed to dry out • pH probes should be stored in a bottle (BO80400) with the following in order of preference Long term: 1. pH storage solution (PH25010) Short term: 2. Saturated KCl solution

CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF pH ELECTRODES

3. pH 7 or pH 4 buffer 4. Deionised water (last resort to prevent drying out) • Electrodes should never be stored in deionised water, unless as a last resort to prevent drying out, testing samples or solvents • Electrode tips should always be rinsed after use • If electrodes need cleaning physically, use a soft tissue and mild detergent or propan-1-ol • Regularly inspect electrode glass for cracks or chips; if any are present, replace the electrode • It is not unusual for electrodes to have salt deposits present – these will disappear when rinsed • If the bulb becomes dry during storage, soak in storage solution, pH 7, or pH 4 buffer for at least an hour prior to use
