Before we tackle howwe can achieve this in technical environments, we need to understand what we want to achieve. Firstly, the fact that students have different ways of learning; some learners work more effectively through different resource media and with different teaching styles.

Secondly, to develop a core set of modern skills our learners must be exposed to ways of working which allow them to use those skills, understand their purpose, and apply them to wider, disparate situations. What skills might be required in future workplaces? Modern; work-readiness; 21stcentury; these are all prefixes to describe a set of skills that are being called for by industry for their next generation of workers. The themes and types of skills, regardless of the title given, are often similar. The World Economic Forum presents them in their “The Future of Jobs Report 2020” and UNESCO refer to them as “competence-base skills” in their report, “Future Competences and the Future of Curriculum”.
Critically, these skills are largely subject-agnostic; translating across disciplines to be used in different contexts –and it is within these contexts that educators can present real-world scenarios which not only bring learning to life, but also direct a multi-route learning journey which encourages teamwork, risk taking, and the experience of challenges that exist outside of the classroom. Our extensive range of acrylic ensures you can purchase the right material for your project and with our budget-conscious bulk-buy packs - at the right price. We’ve grouped our acrylic by type, followed by sheet size, thickness and colour - ordering is quick and simple. Manufactured in different ways, resulting in different properties, TSL’s range includes both cast and extruded acrylic. Cast is made from a mould while extruded is fed through an extruder barrel. Extruded has a better thickness tolerance although the cast is of higher quality and offers better optical properties. Most of TSL’s range consists of cast acrylic which is more commonly used as it is lightweight but rigid, provides a great finish when used on a laser cutter, and offers strong UV protection. Extruded acrylic is often used as an alternative to glass as it is very impact resistant and less expensive. It also has the advantage of being thermoformable (can be used in vacuum forming) but it isn’t available in as wide a range of finish and colours as cast acrylic.
