Ginger Craig was a standout at the plate at Northwestern State, playing from 1985-88. She set 10 career hitting records, one of which still remains (triples-18). She also holds individual season records for batting average (.428) and slugging percentage (.783). She was the first Louisiana Athletic Director’s Association Player of the Year and was the Gulf Star Conference Most Valuable Player in 1987. She also played two seasons (1984-86) for the Lady Demon basketball team.
Rhonda Rube remains the most highly decorated player in Northwestern State softball history. She is the only player to ever earn All-American honors, third team (1991). She set four career hitting records including hits, doubles, batting average, and walks. She was a three-time Louisiana Athletic Director’s Association Player of the Year and a four-time All-Southland Conference pick, three first-team selections and one second team. In 2018, Rube became the first softball player inducted into the Southland Conference Hall of Honor.
