...learning right from the beginning
Dear children, Thank you for a great school year! You have accomplished so much since you arrived at Nessie in September. During this school year, you have managed to get used to the school routine, you have made new friends, and you have learnt English and so much more. I realize you have been working really hard and I’m impressed by the amazing progress you have made since September! You‘re great! I would like to wish all of you who will be leaving Nessie to attend primary school all the best and good luck in your “big life step“. Please keep in touch! We would love to hear how you like it at your new big school, how many friends you have made, what subjects you like, etc. We will be always very happy to hear from you. I am sure the teachers will miss you! I know I will. Dear parents, I would like to thank you for being such an important part of our preschool, for all the positive feedback we have received and for all the suggestions about social events and improvements you have mentioned. This always helps us to accommodate your needs and to enrich the school activities here at Nessie. We appreciate that most of you are going to continue with us in the next school year. I am sure it will be happening in the same positive, nurturing and educational atmosphere, as it has been this school year! Dear teachers, Thanks for your patience, enthusiasm and for the professionalism you put into your work each and every day. We are proud of our teaching team. Keep up the good work! As you all know, starting in September Nessie will have two branches — Prague 5 — Bertramka and Prague 6 — Střešovice. We are going to get to know new faces and experience lots of new things. I believe the coming school year 2008/2009 will be full of fun, smiles, new friendships and short of tears! Enjoy the summer and thank you for the great year we have had together! Jana Řídelová Preschool Director
Dear Pinkies, Congratulations on completing your first year at Nessie! You all have grown so much and have become quite mature little people. Already, you have learned to share, clean-up, make friends, care for others, follow a routine and act independently. We hope you will remember all the fun times we had together: the songs we learned and sang, our messy art projects, circle time games, playing with Cookie, and all the wiggly moves we made while dancing. We will never forget your elaborate playtimes, creative projects, inquisitive nature, and your smiling faces (even your grumpy ones too). We wish you all the very best! Marcela, Kyla and Jana

Dear children, We spent one school year together that was, from our point of view, full of songs, fairy tales, your funny stories, numbers and counting. Sometimes we could see cross faces on you but they quickly disappeared by playing games with your friends, going on adventurous trips that were full of smiles, organising shows for your mums and dads and participating in classroom activities. Our school trips were always full of laughter and fun. Also, we held concerts for parents in which you were excellent! What was the most important thing for us? You, dear children, and especially your progress in English! We are very happy that you were our little students. We hope you enjoyed the school year and that you are taking away lots of nice memories! Have a wonderful summer holiday with lots of sun! AlŞběta and Danielle

Dear children and parents, We would like to say a sincere “thank you” to the students and parents of the Yellow Group. It has been our pleasure to teach such a bright and talented group of children, as well as to work with parents who clearly care about their children’s education. We are amazed to see how much our students have learned, developed, and grown in such a short time. We will miss each and every one of them, though we wish them the best of luck in their next school year. With love, Miss Vlasta and Miss Victoria

Dear children, We hope that you all enjoyed your year at Nessie. It was a pleasure to teach you all and see your progression, both personally and academically. We are delighted that you all enjoyed learning your numbers and letters as well as learning about the world we live in through the English language. We enjoyed you sharing your ideas and experiences with us and your classmates using your new found language skills. We sincerely hope you have the opportunity in the future to use and better these skills. We would like to wish all the Year One students the best in their future studies. Miss Lyn and Miss Lucie

We are pleased to introduce Park Lane International School and a new branch of Nessie English Preschool!
On 1 September 2008, Park Lane International School will open its doors to pupils! Park Lane is a new school for both Czech and foreign children aged 2 to 18, located in a handsome, newly reconstructed building in the beautiful and quiet area of Střešovice in Prague 6. We will also open a new branch of Nessie at this location in September of 2008. Classrooms are modern, bright, spacious and filled with learning resources and multi-media devices. Pupils will have ready access to these resources in order to complete projects and partake in both guided and independent learning activities.
Why choose Park Lane International School? • Experienced staff. The school follows the British Curriculum and is staffed by qualified and experienced teachers from the United Kingdom. • Location. Park Lane is located in a quiet neighbourhood but still readily accessible by public transportation. It’s only a few hundred metres from the Ořechovka tram stop. • Size. The school capacity is 200 children, a small student to teacher ratio means more individual attention for students. • International recognition. Students at Park Lane will be prepared for the British IGCSE exams, followed by the internationally recognised exit exam – the International Baccalaureate. A quality Czech programme is in place for Czech pupils that meet requirements for the Czech exit exam. • Modern technology. Classrooms and the school facilities are fully equipped with up-to-date resources and technology.
• Facilities. The school will have a gym, sports pitch, library and all the facilities necessary for instruction at both the primary and secondary school level. In close proximity to the school, a Sokol organisation’s covered hall, tennis and volleyball courts, and playgrounds can be found. We will have access to these facilities, as needed, for our physical education program. • Excellence. Students receive a quality education from experienced teachers in a modern building where students are taught and encouraged in a positive, student-centred learning environment. For more information, please visit us online at www.parklane-is.cz
2008 —2009 School Year Information • In September 2008, we will open the new Nessie English Preschool branch as well as the Year One (Red Group) at Park Lane International School. In subsequent years, we will start the remaining grades. • It will be possible for pupils of both the Nessie and Park Lane to commute to school by bus to the Střešovice location, but space is limited, so be sure to request transportation early. • The academic year will begin 1 September 2008. • The school day will run Monday to Friday from 8.30 until 15.30. • A calendar of state and school holidays will be available to families at the beginning of the school year.
