STUDENT SUPPORT
Many ofces on campus collaborate to support students, including the Ofce of Advising, the Academic Resource Center (ARC), Residential Communities & Housing, the Wellness Center, and the Ofce of FirstYear Experience.
Accessibility And Disability Services
Denison’s Academic Resource Center (ARC) coordinates a wide range of reasonable accommodations and auxiliary services for students with disabilities. Information about a disability shared with the Wellness Center must be shared separately with ARC out of respect for confdentiality of your information. When submitting documentation, please note that:
1. Documentation must be current (ideally within the past three years) and must be signed by the appropriate licensed professional (e.g., physician, psychologist, psychiatrist, learning specialist, etc.).
2. Documentation must include the date the test(s) was administered and the specifc battery of tests, including the results used in making the diagnosis(es). Specifc accommodations will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The ARC staf will make the determination by utilizing required documentation, information from the online accessibility intake form, individual student consultation, and if needed, consultation with a licensed professional.

Class Deans
Each class at Denison has a Class Dean. The First-Year Dean maintains a collaborative relationship with several ofces of the college, including the Ofce of Student Life, the Academic Resource Center (ARC), Residential Communities & Housing, First-Year Experience, the Wellness Center, and the Ofce of Advising. Class Deans are available throughout the year to meet with students on a wide range of issues, such as personal adjustment concerns and other issues related to navigating college life.
Course Registration
Entering students will register for fall semester classes as part of June Orientation with the assistance of a Faculty Advisor and a student Orientation Leader.
Advising Circles
All entering students are strongly encouraged to sign up for an Advising Circle when they register for classes during June-O. Advising Circles are one-credit seminars, each limited to no more than 12 students and taught by a faculty member who will also serve as your Academic Advisor. This format creates the opportunity for academic advising to be even more structured and intentional. The reading and writing in these classes is minimal, allowing the focus to be on learning about Denison through engaged discussion with one another. Students are able to make connections while also better understanding their new community and their roles and responsibilities within it.
Academic Forms In Your Enrollment Checklist
ADVISING & ACADEMIC INTERESTS FORM
This form allows the Director of PHASE Advising to pair students with a faculty member for their June-O session. The 1 faculty member then uses the form to help you determine which courses you’d like to take during your frst semester.
Math Placement Assessment
All students entering Denison complete the Math Placement Assessment prior to June-O even if they do not intend to take a math course while at Denison. This allows your Academic Advisor to know which course you should take if you ever register for a math course. This placement score follows the student throughout their time at Denison.
Quantitative Reasoning Assessment
All students entering Denison will complete the Quantitative Reasoning Placement prior to June-O to see if they will be encouraged to take a foundational quantitative reasoning course.
Language Placement Assessment
Denison has a series of core General PHASE Education Requirements (GEs) that all students need to complete in order to 2 graduate. Depending on how you plan to complete the Modern Languages GE requirement, the Enrollment Checklist will indicate whether you need to complete a Language Placement Assessment. If a student needs to complete the Language Placement Assessment, they will do so prior to June-O. This allows Academic Advisors to know what course students should take if they were to take a language course at Denison. This placement score follows the student throughout their time at Denison.
