The Rialto Market is one of the best kept secrets in Venice. Getting to the market from any of the 2 berths is an absolute nightmare at any time of the day. Try to catch a water taxi from your yacht and for around 60 Euro each way they drop you right at the market. Italian Fish mongers are very proud of their fish filleting skills, so your best bet is to,just let them clean and scale it for you. Pay the man and pick the fish up when you about the leave. Don’t be shy to ask for coffee as most markets have runner boys who work for a cafe nearby.

Be aware that if you planning on receiving deliveries from your suppliers, the refrigerated barge (make sure it is a real one) will have to dock in one of the side channels. And yes from there you will need all hands on deck, in order to get in on board quickly.

If for some reason you decide to go by foot, don’t forget your thermo insulated bags and a working GPS. There are many alley ways, which can get you anywhere much faster and that will help you also to avoid the crowd. Just don’t forget to leave a trail of bread crumbs even with a GPS, otherwise the way back will be a water taxi.

Being moored onto the pillars means that you have to take a water taxi anytime you want to leave the vessel. All types of water crafts are forbidden unless you have a license. Yes that’s right there is no quick nipping out to the Supermarket.

If you are looking for general Italian dry goods, dairy and cold cuts go and see Lorenzo Gastronomia in one of the side streets. He will be able to offer you some of the best cold cuts and cheeses in the region, and he also possesses a handy vacuum-pack machine. For a small tip he will be able to also deliver to mainland Venice.
