The journey began with the daunting task of site selection, a critical phase where the couple utilised Medifit’s expertise. Medifit’s Marton Jakab provided an in-depth analysis of three different locations, laying out the pros and cons of each.

The eventual winner was a space previously occupied by a local supermarket. With its ability to be customised to the specific needs of the dental practice, this 99 square metre space stood out as the ideal choice.

But the role of Medifit did not end with site selection.

Recognising the multifaceted challenges faced by new dental practice owners, Medifit also stepped in to assist with lease negotiations and established connections with financiers and equipment suppliers.

They ensured the transition from an empty tenancy to a fully functional dental practice was as smooth as possible, alleviating much of the stress typically associated with such an endeavour.

Upon stepping into D+G Dental, the warm, reassuring atmosphere is immediately evident. Clean, modern lines intermingle with neutral tones to create an ambiance of calming professionalism. A grey and white marble reception counter is the focal point of the entrance, serving as testament to the thoughtfulness infused in every design choice.

Tucked behind this elegant reception, a dedicated nook for the practice manager ensures seamless administration and coordination, vital for efficient day-to-day operations.

The practice offers a spacious waiting area, thoughtfully designed to cater to patients of all ages. The inclusion of a children’s play zone is a nod to the family-oriented nature of the Wyee community, providing a delightful distraction for the youngest visitors while they wait for their appointments.

Venturing further into the practice, one can’t help but notice the innovative use of space. D+G Dental houses three surgeries, two of which are currently operational and the third is reserved for anticipated growth, reflecting the practice’s commitment to serve a growing patient base. Each surgery is encapsulated in fullheight glazing, framed in black. The frosted film offers the perfect blend of privacy and openness, creating an environment that is both comforting for patients and conducive for the dental team.

In addition to the surgeries, the practice boasts a sterilisation and lab area, underscoring their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Moreover, the presence of a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) machine demonstrates their commitment to comprehensive dental care, allowing them to provide advanced diagnostic services on-site.

Dr Gunaratne and Dr De Silva’s journey from site selection to grand opening spanned two years. They navigated the challenging process of establishing a dental practice with the unwavering support of the Medifit team.
