Denver Urban Spectrum, Colorado’s premiere publication for communities of color since 1987 will broadcast Urban Spectrum NOW!, a 60-minute webcast highlighting leaders, culture, and issues in Colorado and around the U.S. This news platform will take the Urban Spectrum message of “spreading the news about people of color” to a new and larger demographic.

To coincide with the current Denver Urban Spectrum May print publication, the first inaugural webcast will focus on the Coronavirus and its impact on African Americans, locally and nationally and will broadcast on

Wednesday, May 13 at Noon on Facebook The Urban Stance segment presents a diverse panel of experts who share insight on how COVID-19 has affected the communities of color within their field of expertise.

Panelists include State Representative Leslie Herod; Financial Planner Myra Donovan; Angelle Fouther (Montbello Organizing Committee); Lauren Casteel (Women's Foundation of Colorado); Attorney Dawn P. Bookhardt; Dr. Anthony P. Young (Denver-Rocky Mountain Assn of Black Psychologists); Dr. Johnny E. Johnson; Lee Gash-Maxey (Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce); Rev. Quincy Shannon; and Bishop Jerry Demmer.

In addition to the roundtable talk, the webcast will highlight people who are making a difference in the community. The nonprofit organization Struggle of Love is featured in Urban Spirit and Denver icon musician 89-year-old Freddy Rodriguez, Sr. who lost his live to Coronavirus is memorialized in the Urban Splendor segment along with 85-year-old Mrs. Edream Moore.

The webcast will broadcast during the month of May on the Denver Urban Spectrum’s YouTube Channel and Website.
