Q&As with Tessa
Q1: What do you love the most about photography?
What I love most about photography is that you can really turn a few things into a wonderland. Looking through the eye of a lens, you can capture some of the most beautiful moments and sceneries in life. Q2: Do you find it difficult being a young photographer?
I do not find it difficult being a young photographer because I enjoy it. When you love doing something, you can be found doing that for hours. Tessa’s 13th Paint Party! Photography is fun for me because I can get as artsy, crazy, beautiful, or fashionable as I want. The creativity that can be put into a photo is enormous. Another thing is that when I am actually doing photo shoots, it is fun being able to interact with other people and share your love for photography and art. Q3: What inspires you before you take a picture of something or someone you love?
Before taking a picture of something or someone I love, something that inspires me is the memory of one of my first photo shoots with my sister Hannah, it was so much fun and it is what really got me into photography. She is also just such a big inspiration to me.
Q4: What advice would you give other young girls or boys out there that love photography but don't know how or where to start?
My advice to young photographers is to start with something you love. I started by taking pictures of my sister, then the mountains and wildlife. Whenever you have the chance on a road trip or while playing at the park with friends, take a moment if you find something interesting, and capture it. For me, it all started on my phone. You don't have to have a huge fancy camera when you start, later on maybe, but the quality of the photo should be based on your love for it. Something easy to start taking pictures of would be flowers, friends, or pets, and if you love photography, stick with it.

Fashion Meets fitness A fashion Model Who Loves Fitness
Model: Natalia Mirela Spencer Hair, Makeup, Styling, & Photography: Lorenzo Martinez Article & Production: Abram Palmer of Parallel Artistic
Born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1984, Natalia Mirela Spencer is a role model for perseverance and good ‘ole fashion stick-to-it-ness. Her story of surviving and thriving in adversity cultivates with her explosive arrival to Denver’s modeling and muscle scene. Spencer lives in Denver with her two kids, develops her career, and takes part in photo shoots, fashion shows, fitness competitions, and races.
Q&As: Tell Me About Yourself: My name is Natalia Mirela Spencer, but I go by Mirela. If you couldn’t already tell, I love to work out. It all started back in 2012 because of a back injury. I had two rotator cups blow up and my spine shifted to the left. I had nerve damage from my neck to my tailbone out of 25 bones in my spine, 16 lack cartilage. The doctors suggested three surgeries, but I didn’t want to take pain medication and muscle relaxers. I did some research and found that working out would be a better way to build my muscles. I got some weights and started working out at home. I was in tears every time I worked out for months, but by month six, I had an eight pack on my back. I continued with fitness for a couple of years and now I’m in the fashion industry.
What do you want to do with fitness and how does it involve fashion?
I want to be a spokesperson for fitness clubs and social media outlets. The Body Building Show led me to pursue work in the modeling industry. I was a runway model in the 2017 fashion show for Lorenzo Martinez’s line of accessories. This is my year, and I just have to make it happen. I plan to continue in fashion and fitness. My recent photo shoots and fashion shows were a bit nerve-wracking. I’d never done anything like that before. They had to do so many pictures. It’s a good thing I had great coaching.
How can someone who is interested in fashion and fitness make their dreams come true?
Everyone can achieve their goals. In my case, working out was a great solution for my injuries. Life is not about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself. Whatever you want to mold yourself into, you can do it. There’ll always be something that can get you off track, but you can do it. My advice, specifically for women, is you have to get into the gym. You may say,“I have too many things going on.” There’s always something going on. Get some motivation and do your research or ask someone.
Lorenzo Martinez is a Chilean-born interdisciplinary artist. His background began with the study of differential education, from there he continued to study dance and earn an advance degree in art direction from Universidad Mayor in Santiago de Chile. Having arrived in Denver two years ago, Lorenzo offers his creative eye to dance companies, fashion shows, promotional events, as well as corporate and personal production. He is the creative director of Parallel Artistic – a creative house that unites artists from different backgrounds to produce real-life performance art. Its mission is to share modern contemporary art to the masses. (Photo credit: Lorenzo Damian Hope).

Fashion Overseas
As Colorado grows, so does the fashion industry. Obviously, Colorado is not the most fashionable state in the U.S. In fact, for those who do not follow fashion, the United States isn’t even the most fashionable country in the world. Europe and Asia have a fashion time zone ahead of the United States. What I mean is, what becomes popular here all the sudden was already popular there.
G
I was given an opportunity to go study abroad in Europe to expand my knowledge in my degree in Event Management through school and I'm thrilled. Not only will I be studying, but I will see all the latest trends, fashions, cultures, and lifestyles that Europe has to offer compared to the United States. This will be my first time in Europe and I hope they are ready for me! Editor-in-Chief: Georgez Dabit Photography: Trisha Ventker
