Hello, we give up. We’ve tried to write this hello in a number of ways, emphasising the wide variety of comedy nights (and days), the development of the Festival to have many more Midlands-based comedians at the heart of what we do and the genuine desire of all involved to work with businesses and venues for the first time. However, it is very difficult. Therefore, read on, the inside says it much better than we can in 200 words, so there’s really only two other things left to say. One is that with the Festival this year why not do something different, try and get to more than one gig, perhaps taking a risk on a show without the bloke from the TV in it; get involved yourself with the improv evenings; come along to the Super hero Blast Off launch (16 Apr) and wear your pants over your trousers. Whatever you fancy, do get along to a show, as well as household names, this Festival supports emerging talent, particularly for Derbyshire, and it’d be good if you could too. And two, thank you to everyone involved this year, for all the behind the scenes work and the general encouragement. Thanks, laughs and kind regards, Bob, Paul, Helen, Dan & Matt

Get involved This year’s Derby Comedy Festival is set to be the biggest and best yet, with over 60 events planned, involvement from more venues than ever and programming by Derby LIVE, Furthest From The Sea, Funhouse Comedy, NCF Comedy and Lost Boys. Now in its third year, Derby Comedy Festival continues to grow, bringing some of the finest comedic talents to Derby and working with local businesses and non-traditional performance spaces to showcase homegrown humour. Moving forward, we are looking for more involvement in next year’s festival, aiming to bring even more Derby based venues, individuals and organisations together to help Derby ‘stand up’ and be counted. Access
Theatre-going should be accessible to all and all venues throughout the Derby Comedy Festival have a strong commitment to making this happen. Most venues have wheelchair spaces and welcome assistance dogs. Most venues have digital, infra-red or a loop system. For full details of the provision made by each of the venues, please visit the venue websites, or check with the venue by calling them on the numbers above.
The Small Print
Visit derbycomedyfestival.co.uk for full terms and conditions. Please note that tickets for Derby LIVE events that are bought over the counter or the telephone are inclusive of a booking fee, which goes towards covering administration costs. Prices listed here include these fees. The majority of tickets bought online for Derby LIVE events are cheaper as they do not include fees.
