Markeaton Park welcomes all the family to come along for the first three weekends in December to enjoy Family Festivities in the Craft Village.

Enjoy festive food from The Orangery café, ride the Giant Ferris Wheel and fairground rides, visit Santa Land, enjoy carols, brass bands, wreath making, and much more.... Each weekend is themed, giving you a reason to come back! Some activities and rides will have charges, but there are also FREE activities to enjoy.

Are you looking for that extra special Christmas gift, that’s unique and locally made? Come along and browse at the Friends of Markeaton Park Craft Fair.

From brass bands to choirs, you’ll be filled with festive enjoyment, tapping your feet and singing around the Christmas tree.

Throughout the weekend there will be workshops and demonstrations for everyone to get involved, from mosaics, Christmas stockings, wreaths and much more.

FREE ACTIVITIES ELF TRAIL Markeaton welcomes festive visitors to the park. Elves have taken up residency in hidden locations around the park for you to find them. Get your free Elf trail, available from the Christmas tree in the Craft Village. Share your family pictures on your Elf adventure on Derby Parks Facebook page. Post your Elf trail entries into the North Pole Post Box, located in the Craft Village. SEARCH FOR DECORATED STONES IN MARKEATON PAK Take a walk around Markeaton Park looking for the colourfully decorated stones and rocks and upload your images to the Derby Parks and Derbyshire Rocks Facebook pages. Remember, keep safe, place and find your rocks in accessible locations and go hunting with an adult. Enjoy!

MUNDY PLAY CENTRE PLAY AREA Let off some Christmas excitement on the climbing frames, swings, slides and the pirate ship. Other attractions are available at a small charge including crazy golf and electric cars.

REINDEER TRAIL Try to spot Santa’s nine reindeer playing hide and seek within the walls of the Craft Village.

FAMILY WALK Markeaton Park has many footpaths around the park that allow access for everyone to enjoy a winter walk. Visit inderby.org.uk/markeaton for a route map.

FAIRGROUND RIDES Including a 35m high observation ferris wheel, festive carousel, family rides, hook a duck and for the thrill seekers Tango and Speed Ride. All rides require tokens available from the token booth. 1 tokens £1.20 or 10 tokens £10 SANTA LAND £7.99 for 2 hours entry in Santa Land, complete with children’s rides and a voucher for a ride on the carousel in the craft village, and an opportunity to wave at Santa. Adults £2. Advance booking is advised, call 01332 799997 (between 3-6pm)

Every weekend our Craft Village units have something for you to enjoy, whether you want to browse or take part in an activity. Come along and browse the many stalls. DERBY MODEL BOAT CLUB Sat 2 Dec Enjoy the festive illuminated model boat displays outside the Craft Village on the duck pond. DERBY HOSPITAL JINGLE JOG Sun 3 Dec A 5km run around Markeaton Park, dressed as Santa! The fun run is for adults, children and dogs alike. You can walk, jog or run, it’s up to you! There is also a children’s 1.5km fun run. Registration fee is £10. To join visit derbyhospitalscharity.org.uk/events/jingle-jog

WILLOW WEAVING DEMONSTRATIONS Sat 16 & Sun 17 Emma Parkins is a professional willow sculptor, specialising in animals and creatures which have character. Come along and view her demonstrations. COMMUNITY MOSAIC WORKSHOP Sat 16 & Sun 17 Adult Learning Services will be running craft workshops to make a mosaic. The mosaics will be left at Markeaton Park, to take pride of place in a permanent display in the Craft Village. Free. THE INVISIBLE FRIENDS CHOIR Sat 16 & Sun 17 Dec, 2pm The choir is made up of young people aged 9 to 30 and each member has an invisible illness or disability or cares for someone who has one. They will share their love of music and raise awareness of invisible illnesses. COMMUNITY TEXTILE BANNER Sun 17 Adult Learning Services will be inviting families to take part in their workshop to create a community banner to be displayed permanently in Markeaton Park Craft Village. Free SENSE OF PLACE Sun 17, 2pm to 3.30pm Join Adult Learning Services in a Sense of Place walk around Markeaton Park where we sense the past and sense the present.
