Hello
As the weather gets colder, there’s still plenty happening as we edge closer to those Winter months, beginning with the 9th Derby Folk Festival, which will return to build on the success of last year’s event, which completely sold out! The festival will once again take place across the city centre at a variety of venues with a ‘whos who’ of folk performing throughout the weekend. Even though the air might be getting crisper, there’s still plenty to enjoy outdoors as we host the annual Darley Park Concert, followed by a show-stopping two days of unique entertainment during Derby Festé. We’re also looking forward to bringing you Derby’s biggest Bonfire and Fireworks display on Markeaton Park.
The biggest news we’ve got this Christmas is the return of the pantomime which will be taking place at the new Derby Arena. During the festive months you can expect to see Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton, The Only Way Is Essex star Dan Osborne and 5ive’s Ritchie Neville starring in Aladdin. We’re also looking forward to the return of The Babbling Vagabonds as they will be bringing us another of their fantastic Guildhall Theatre Christmas shows; The Potty Professor’s Christmas Miracle. Looking ahead, we’re looking forward to Derby panto favourite Mike McClean performing his stand up show at the Guildhall Theatre, after he’s appeared in panto that is!
Moving towards Christmas, we’d love you to join us as we light up the city at the Christmas Lights Switch-On or grab your skates and go for a spin on the Derby Christmas Ice Rink.

The Lindisfarne Story
European Arts Company
A Picture of Dorian Gray
Featuring Billy Mitchell & Ray Laidlaw
by Oscar Wilde. Adapted by Merlin Holland and John O’Connor. Directed by Peter Craze.
When Tyneside group Lindisfarne exploded onto the UK music scene in 1970 they became the standard bearers for acoustic based rock music. Their sparkling song-writing cut through the prevailing pop and glam sounds of the seventies, the group achieved international success and Lindisfarne’s music is still ever-present on UK radio.
Set in the decadent world of Victorian London, a beautiful young man called Dorian Gray becomes infatuated by the exquisite portrait that Basil Hallward has painted of him. He makes a Faustian pact that he will remain forever young while the picture grows old. Combining drawing-room comedy and gothic horror, this is a gripping and hugely entertaining theatrical event.
